We were fortunate to find metered street parking just steps away from the beach, making access very convenient. This boardwalk is long and you can find yourself on any part of the beach. The boardwalk had a lively atmosphere with people rollerblading, riding electric bikes, and even pedaling those fun four wheel family bikes. It created a really enjoyable and energetic vibe. When we made our way onto the beach, it wasn't crowded at all, so finding a comfortable spot to sit was easy. We even took a swim in the ocean. The water felt cool when we first stepped in, but after a few minutes our bodies adjusted, and it became a very refreshing and enjoyable swim. There was a lifeguard on duty until around 6:30 PM, which added an extra sense of comfort and safety. Across the street, there was a restaurant and bar where visitors could grab drinks, food, or snacks and bring them back to enjoy by the beach. Overall, we had a wonderful time at Hollywood Beach. The relaxed atmosphere, beautiful shoreline, and lively boardwalk made for a memorable visit, and I would definitely return.

If you can make it to watch the sunrise, please do. It really is beautiful. Love the little cafes lining the board walk. Lots of garbage cans around for trash collection. It's a great spot to meet new people and interact with like minded folks.

Keating Beach Park is off the beaten path at the far north end of the Hollywood Boardwalk. This park was named in honor of former Hollywood Mayor David Keating. He served as a City Commissioner and Mayor from 1961 to 1986. In 1963 he took a walk on this stretch of beach and it cemented in his mind that it should remain public. For the next two decades he led the fight to save this strip of beach from Sheridan Street to the Hollywood-Dania Beach line from Hollywood Inc., a development company that claimed they owned it, not the city. On September 4, 1981, the Fourth District Court of Appeal sided with the city and decided that the 1.5 mile of beach belonged to the city. Anyone who uses the beach here today has David Keating to thank. Today Keating Beach Park is under construction. It looks like there is structural damage to the pavilion and it is fenced off. There is no parking in this area either. The restrooms are closed and the slide is gone. Still the beach remains a glorious wide strip on sundrenched sand. This area is frequented more by locals than tourists. Here is to hopping that Hollywood gets the repairs done and opens this area back up soon.

The sand is so soft and clean, with not a single bit of seaweed. This was so surprising, as just a few miles away there was a substantial amount of seaweed. There were palm trees that offered a perfect amount of shade if you prefer to lie and read your book or take a nap on the beach. Be sure to layer on the sunscreen, I used an SPF 60, and still walked away a bit flushed. The water was very comfortable and clean. I took a swim a few times, and this is in April. Why can't every beach be like Keating Beach? But wait... there was a lady who came and was yelling profanities, I thought she was on her phone, but she was actually just venting loudly to herself. She had all eyes on her, there was no stopping her. I suppose that's one way to exercise your freedom of speech! Keating Beach is as perfect as they come. Hopefully you won't encounter the minor interruption like I did.

There was plenty of parking at 12pm on the Saturday when I went, but it was a little bit of a chilly day. The beach area was beautiful and they had some picnic tables and BBQ's by the mangroves. There are lifeguard stands and plenty of sand to find a comfortable spot. There is also the broadwalk, in which people were walking, roller-blading, and riding their bikes. I had to pay $10 to park, which would be for the whole day or even just an hour. The only thing I think that could have been improved is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Beach bathrooms are never that sparkling clean, but these were smelly and looked like they haven't been looked over all day. So all in all, a great place to enjoy the beach if you can stand the smelly bathroom.

If you cross the street you can reach the public beach access. Green Park is across the street from the Marine Environmental Education Center where you can learn about sea turtles and how to protect them. This park is named for the green sea turtle, the largest of the hard shelled turtles. They are unique because they are herbivores with a diet consisting of sea grass and algae. Green turtles are found around the world but their numbers have declined as they have been used for their meat and eggs. They have also lost nesting habitat due to coastal development. They are listed as an endangered species. This park is mainly used for picnics and cooking out and fishing. Numerous trees provide shade in the park and you can enjoy a nice breeze from the intracoastal. There are concrete tables and benches with grills throughout the park. There are no restrooms but you can walk to the one next door in Leatherback Park. Feel free to bring fido because this park is dog friendly.

There are some parts of the beach that are accessible by public access, while others are part of the beachfront condos in the area.
