Just a short story I would like to share. I had surgery on my nose previously when I was in the military and the results were subpar to say the least. I have had many surgeries; so choosing to have another one wasn't on my bucket list. After years on continuous suffering and lack of sleep I decided to follow Dr Leemans recommendations and allow him to perform my second nasal and sinus surgery. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made concerning my health. Now I breathe and sleep much better; it has definitely improved my quality of life. DR.Leeman doesn't explain things to you after doing 2 test. then I had to go back couple days late and he did the repeated the same test again didn't even give me a reason why. Then they canceled my appointment for the allergy test so I am having to seek other medical help because I didn't get the medical help I needed. YIKES! DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR! or TALK ABOUT LEARNING THE HARD WAY! ZERO STARS. Dr. Leeman performed surgery on me to relieve chronic sinusitis. The first two, septoplasty and turbinate reduction, were done in February at St. David's Medical Center in Austin. The third surgery, balloon sinuplasty, said by him and his PA, Matthew Poole, to be "the easiest of the three surgeries," was to be done about a month later at his surgery center on Manor Road . When I awoke from the balloon sinuplasty procedure, Dr. Leeman notified me that he had nicked the wall between the brain and the sinus passage, but that he repaired it. He said that it's fairly common, which Matthew later repeated to me. Dr. Leeman's professional demeanor with his staff, specifically yelling down the hall in an agitated voice at them from the examination room, plus the fact that he was dismissive of my concerns, and gave me questionable advice about flying within one day of the "nick" caused me to seek a second opinion. The patch he placed on the 3 mm hole he put in the wall that protects my brain, failed, and I ended up at Seton ER to have surgery to repair it, and a three-night stay. Further review of the scans of my sinuses after he performed what he told me was "balloon sinuplasty," show that he DIDN'T PERFORM A BALLOON SINUPLASTY BUT ACTUALLY PERFORMED AN ETHMOIDECTOMY, something we NEVER DISCUSSED. HE ALSO REMOVED BONE TISSUE AND THE CILIA WHICH LINE THE SINUS PASSAGES THAT HELP CLEAR THEM OF MUCUS AND DEBRIS, NEITHER OF WHICH CAN BE REPLACED. HE DID THAT FOR NO APPARENT REASON, AND CERTAINLY DID NOT DISCUSS IT WITH ME BEFOREHAND. Two different ENTs have verified to me that a "nick" like the one he created in my sinus cavity is NOT COMMON, in fact happens in less than 1% of the surgeries. CSF leaks (Cerebrospinal Fluid Leaks) can lead to serious, potentially life-threatening complications (meningitis is one) if left untreated. I should have been suspicious right at the start when I arrived at what they called their "satellite office" on 1626 to find the office dark and the door locked. I knocked on the door, and PA Matthew Poole opened it. The office had no furniture and they obviously were not expecting me. Matt looked like he had just come in from a hunting trip, camo jacket, crocs, messy, scraggly hair and beard. He was able to recover quickly and convinced me that he knew what he was talking about. I was desperate to resolve a 6-month bout of chronic sinusitis, and had chosen this doctor specifically because of the location being closer to home. As it turned out, while I was a patient, they were never prepared to see me there, and I ended up having to drive from Buda into Austin for every appointment. Thank god there are plenty of professional ENTs practicing in Austin. The difference in how they practice is night and day. I called multiple times with concerns and questions about my health care and billing and was told that I would get a call back from Joseph or even the doctor himself. No one calls. I asked them to waive a bill for $138 because I was so dissatisfied with the service and they refused. They don't care about their patients, they only care about money. DON'T GO HERE!! read more

I was uncomfortable in his office. It was very impersonal. I felt like a cattle going through stalls. I went in to discuss a deviated septum. After my "free" CT scan he said we should go forward with the deviated septum surgery and also reducing the turbinates. However when I got my surgery plan it included basically gutting my entire sinuses! Removing tonsils, adenoids, turbinates and whatever else he could remove. This plan was not approved or discussed with me before surgery. I'm so glad I read the "plan." Should have listened to my gut at the first appointment. I demand to be an informed patient and that was not the case in his office. read more

UPDATE: So it's been a few years now and my nose is definitely healed. Here is an honest review of my experience with Dr. Leeman. 1) Bedside Manner - he is very stoic and serious. This didn't match my expectations but I ignored it and went with it since it was the cheapest option. 2) I tried to cancel the night before and I called the office to do so. Dr. Leeman called me back and really felt I should proceed but I really did not want to. He talked me into it by working through all my objections but I really wasn't 100% on board as I didn't think he did a thorough enough job on what the expected outcome would be. I agreed against my own values as I was afraid my septum surgery would be messed up or something.lol. I just felt like I didn't have a choice at that point as the surgery was the next morning. Felt pressured. But ultimately, I agreed and that's on me. 3)The actual time at the office was great. The staff were nice and funny. 4) Post-Op: Once I had the surgery there was a lump at the very top of nose. Dr. Leeman said that was where he broke my nose to do the surgery. I still have it. 5). On a positive note, my septoplasty worked great and that has been a welcome change; to be able to breathe again. 6) I am going to post the before and after photos that we went over prior to surgery. The photo on the left is the before and the right is "supposed" to be the after. lol I would not recommend this place for any rhinoplasty. You get what you pay for I guess. I can't even do anything about it because I signed something that he would fix it and it was arbitration. So now I have to get it fixed and I have been saving up for it these past couple of years because it's going to cost me 30k to get it fixed so that at least both sides are the same size. doh! I wasn't seeing dr. Leeman for long until he recommended nose surgery. It seemed that was my only option to feel better and so I went ahead with it. The surgery made things worse and beyond that, the worst part is they promised it wouldn't change the way my nose looked but it actually changed the way I looked physically for the worse. I now have a large bump on my nose and friends and family notice that I look different, as well as myself. I believe there were other options he could have recommended before going into surgery. When I asked him about why my nose changed and looked worse he said "oh yea I do see it's different...I don't know why that happened". Do not go here, this office will run your insurance for everything under the sun. I went in for a simple sinus infection, they charged my insurance 3 separate CPT codes, not one of them being an office-visit covered by my co-pay, even though everything was in-office. I went to Dr. Leeman in 2019 for a deviated septum. It resulted in me undergoing surgery under his care (septoplasty, balloon sinuplasty, and rhinoplasty) in November 2019. Coming out of surgery, I knew something was very wrong. The recovery was brutally miserable. My parents, who nursed me back to health, actually boarded the bathroom mirror, so I couldn't see myself. My dad described it after as Paul Dano in the movie, Prisoners after Hugh Jackman tortured him for several weeks. At my first post op (a week post surgery), they took out the cast and found strips of gauze that were left inside my nose. I couldn't go on a walk without feeling nauseous or running out of breath instantaneously. When I tried to bring up my concerns at post ops to the nurses, they'd dismiss it. When I'd advise my health and functional concerns, they'd say they'd pass it on to Dr. Leeman. He would give me less than a minute of face time before rushing out of the room. He wouldn't address my concerns and repeatedly said results could take a year to settle. Even with a visible bone protruding in my nostril, he was reluctant to even discuss it. I also observed him to be unprofessional with his employees and yell at them. The year followed with frequent post ops, each time charging me and my insurance more and more money (even though his nurse told me I wouldn't have to pay for post op visits). COVID hit in March 2020, 4 months post op. Around Labor Day 2020, I decided to start getting second opinions. It was an extremely difficult, expensive, and complicated process to get consultations during COVID. It was difficult to find a doctor who wanted to take my case. Some said they couldn't promise any results and would need more than one revision rhinoplasty to correct. Some brought up structural integrity concerns. At another doctor's recommendation, I booked one last appointment with Dr. Leeman where he finally was open to going through all the before and after photos. He refused to acknowledge there was anything wrong and consistently gaslighted me, while being hostile and visually upset with a red face. At one point, he even told his nurse "oh I think (another nurse) is calling me." I was confused because I heard nothing. His new nurse didn't get the hint and even said, "oh I didn't hear anything." After about 30-45 minutes, he agreed to give me 30 minutes of surgery time to correct one of my main concerns, but I'd have to pay for it. I then asked if he would be open to providing a refund.. He laughed in my face and said "there are no refunds here, all sales are final. After paying for the visit, I asked for my before and after photos. I called and emailed for weeks before I received a very selective few of the dozens of pictures. Ultimately, I underwent a remarkably expensive revision rhinoplasty and septoplasty in November 2020. They ended up needing to obtain and procure cartilage from a medical research university because there was no remaining cartilage in my nose to rebuild. It forced me to live with my parents (a sacrifice in itself). The surgery was 4-6 hours long (not 30 minutes). My recovery with the new doctor was a complete 180. My black eyes were gone within the week. I was able to eat whole foods the same day. My face wasn't bruised or red or swollen like it was after Dr. Leeman's surgery. I was working out and running within weeks. There have been additional small revisions over the last couple years, but I believe I'm in a good place now. This review has taken years because my trauma and mental healing process has taken years. Overcoming the financial toll has taken years. There is an indentation scar at the top of my nose that was never able to be corrected. It is a daily reminder of what I overcame since November 2019. In summary, I strongly urge you to steer clear of Dr. Leeman and his entire practice. He claims to be a Godly man on Sundays, but at the end of the day, he is a man with no character or dignity. I never leave reviews.. but my time with Dr. Leeman forces me to... This was the worst appointment I've ever had. The doctor was unprofessional and treated his staff poorly. He reviewed my scan images on his phone because his office didn't have the proper system to view them. Despite the fact that I've been dealing with infections every two weeks, he dismissed my concerns, saying everything looked fine (because he didn't have the actually CT scans to review). On top of that, he charged extra to use a scope on my nose, only to provide no helpful information. There was no acknowledgment that they were unprepared--just a clear attempt to make extra money. It was a scam. For anyone considering Dr. Leeman, look elsewhere. There are far better ENTs in Austin and Texas in general. read more

Went in for My sinuses after seeing a commercial that they did. I saw posters on the walls about his rhino plastic work so asked him and was told he could fix my nose for a very nominal fee. I left with a broken nose broken down bridge and a bone sticking up on top. When I tried to get more attention to get it fixed I was told i'd need to pay like a new patient read more

I've called after they texted me saying they need new patient information and I called back to find out they want a credit card on file for a 50$ cancelation fee and I will 200 pending charging. BILLING NIGHTMARE! I FEEL LIKE I WAS SCAMMED! I met Dr Leeman because I was told by my PCP that she thought I had a deviated septum. I've never broken my nose so I assumed I was born with this. It never bothered me but I went to the see the ENT to see if it getting this fixed could help my allergies and asthma. He suggested surgery for my deviated septum and would widen then openings to my nasal cavities at the same time. I was concerned on cost as I'm on a tight budget and don't have great health insurance. I was told they would give me an estimate for all aspects of my surgery. I was given an estimate for the surgery and all aspects of the surgery. The estimate was about $1245, I asked if they can go up or down and was told it may go up or down SLIGHTLY. Fast forward to the surgery being completed, I was told I needed 2 surgery follow up appointments, these would be included in the estimate. Great....I thought... I go to the first surgery follow up appointment and they take out the stents, clean up my nose with a suction scope. I'm then told I need another follow up to make sure it heals right. I go in for the final follow up and am told I owe over $600 more dollars for my surgery! AND may owe even more in the coming months! Almost another $400 for the actual act of the surgery and about $200 for the follow up appointments. When I spoke with the supervisor for the billing department I was told only the doctor fee for the follow up visit is included, no nasal cleanings are included in the estimates. This is not told to you when you are in the office, you aren't even given an option of having this or to opt out. You are told you need this due to your surgery. Bottom line: if I knew that the surgery would have cost over $1800 I would not have done it! read more

When I expressed some concerns about the treatment, I felt like she heard me and took all the necessary steps and precautions to look into my concerns and requests. I felt really cared for and taken seriously by her. I can tell she really cares about her patients and wants the best results because she is passionate about the work she does helping people. I was recently referred to Dr. Bea Smith (Audiologist) with the office of Dr. Daniel J. Leeman to evaluate and assess what I thought were hearing problems. My experiences with Dr. Bea have been outstanding. Her thorough testing and explanations related to hearing aid assistance overall were great, as she also explained the hearing aid products that would best fit my hearing needs as a result of some hearing loss. In my view, her years of experience working with children with hearing challenges are assets in her work with adults, as she has good "bed-side manners" as an audiologist, carefully and thoroughly "teaching" and explaining the entire process. Once my aids were received and I had to transition in my use of them, she welcomed my follow-up appointments and patiently listened to my questions/concerns, made adjustments to my aids, helped me better understand how to handle and care for them, and urged me to not hesitate coming back or calling her if I had additional questions or concerns. I've been a patient of Dr. Leeman's for almost a decade at this point and I'm 100% over it and will never be back. Incompetent staff, multiple scheduling issues, cancellations at the last second and of course - today the 2nd time I've driven all the way there to discover that when I arrive for an appointment I made weeks ago, they do not even have my medication in stock. No one could call and explain? Fool me twice, shame on me but at least I'll never have to deal with this again. Aside from the obvious issues with scheduling and office staff, there were so many times I'd make an appointment to see Dr. Leeman and show up to find that Kenneth was who was going to perform the injections - not okay! His results were not the same and I feel like the bait and switch was a real issue here. Today was the breaking point for me, though. I went there just for a consult. I waited 40 min to see the doctor. When I did see dr. Lehman he was nice and easy to talk to but also I felt rushed. I agreed to a filler treatment on my forehead. It was never once mentioned how painful this would be. The "numbing cream" that was on me for 40 min did NOT numb anything. I thought I would just tough it out but after almost an HOUR of needles and injections in my forehead I was in agony. Also the dr kept dripping the plasma mixture on my face, yuck! I was sweating and shaking from the pain, I have had hours of tattoos and piercings That hurt less, I have a high tolerance of pain. When I expressed that I was in pain, nothing was done. The needles and stinging of the plasma spreading under my skin were bad enough but then the dr pressed down on my forehead to spread out the plasma it was excruciating. If you are considering a filler treatment I suggest you get numbed w lidocaine, not mystery cream, as I was. After the procedure I just wanted to go home and cry because I was in so much pain. The next day I had a black eye which gravitated down in a couple of days it was caused from his pressure on my forehead vein. read more

I called this office to schedule an appointment using a Groupon deal I purchased. The first question I was asked after making that statement was "who are you calling?" Uh, WHAT? Didn't I just dial NewU Plastic Surgery?? Turns out they merged with another business and don't yet answer the phone in an informative or friendly way and, seemingly, don't know which side of the business is offering a deal (even though I mentioned both the Groupon and the specific treatment I was calling to book). Fast-forward through several random questions that had essentially no relevance to appointment availability, and I was asked, "Which technician would you prefer?" (she mentioned Victoria and another name) My response: "Victoria should be fine." Her response, "Victoria isn't available and we won't know her availability for some time." Me: "Then why would you ask who I prefer if one of the individuals isn't available for booking??" After a bit more blah, blah, blah, and being placed on hold for some unknown reason, I agreed to see the other individual and was told she is only available on Fridays and, seemingly, not anytime soon. Uh, WHAT? Or better yet, WTF?? Long story short: Thanks so much for wasting my time, NewU! (read: sarcasm) AND...thanks so much for the refund Groupon! (read: no sarcasm) Meanwhile, here's a customer-friendly thought, NewU: When you offer a Groupon deal for a specific treatment, clearly state when said treatment is offered and/or available. Had I known I would be limited to one technician who is available one day a week I wouldn't have bothered. Further, doesn't it make more sense to confirm treatment/customer/appointment availability before taking anyone's myriad details? Lastly, I get that I purchased a Groupon deal, but saving a few $$ shouldn't mean that I--or anyone--should have to sacrifice good service or convenience along the way. There is a certain shame in not being able to hear very well that I can't quite explain. When I went to this office I left feeling very relieved. It didn't take them long to realize that I have a deviated septum along with an infection. The infection is being treated and I'm due for a follow up in two weeks. I'm literally elated to go back. I'm so glad to know that if these antibiotics and neti pot don't clear up the fluid in my ears that a surgery is available that will. I'd also like to note that ALL of the staff were super friendly and explained everything in a way that I could follow which I really appreciate. So, thank you! read more

Avoid. I went in with a middle ear filled with fluid in the middle ear as I always get every few years. I was over/mistreated. Was given no post-care instructions. They also forgot to call in my prescription. Started to have bad side effects. Went for a second and third opinion and both told me there was a massive infection not being treated as well as the type of rigid tube they used causing problems and terrible for someone like me. I have a long road ahead of me now, for something avoidable. Staff seems scattered, bad at following up calls, and Dr Leeman seems checked-out and only concerned with upselling services. Wish I dug deeper online for reviews before choosing them since after the fact I see many with similar experience. read more

I went to Dr Leeman for a consult for a cosmetic procedure. If you're looking for bedside manner, look elsewhere. I felt awkward and uncomfortable the entire time. Then they CHARGED ME FOR THE CONSULT BECAUSE I DECIDED NOT TO BOOK AN APPT. I decided not to because 1) the reviews on here about complications and infections after surgery, 2) their prices were much much higher than other local places that specialize in this, and 3) I wanted to go someplace that routinely does this procedure and has recent reviews, pictures, etc. Prior to this consult, I saw his PA for a TMJ issue. I was told to pay out of pocket for the procedure and told they would bill the insurance. They said if the insurance company paid for it, they would refund me. Of course that didn't happen. In their contract with my insurance company, they are required to order from a specific specialty pharmacy. They decided to breach that contract and order from their pharmacy of choice... which is why it wasn't covered, and why I had to pay almost $600 out of pocket. No one has refunded me. I have seen other reviews about billing nightmares and it's all true. They don't follow their contracts, they do whatever they want, and stick you with the bill. read more

They were able to get me in quickly for an emergency ear situation, and they also worked with me to make a payment plan that was very reasonable even though I was in a tight spot with an emergency. This doctor has literally ruined the most important part of my life. My ears. Unlike a lot of people I truly depend on my ears for happiness. Before seeing this doctor my life revolves around my ears. From car stereos to surround sound systems, 2 channel, headphones, all of it. It's all I did was listen to music. I went in for a sinuplasty and he totally destroyed my nerves as well as my Eustachian tubes. I now have PET and hyperacusis. 2 things that are incurable. Loud noises hurt my ears quite literally. Simply clapping my hands will ring my ears. My life is screwed. I went to talk to him after the botched surgery and he prescribed me some useless drops that costed me 70$ and charged me for the visits. What gull. On Facebook I wrote a review as well and he responded some cookie cutter response like he actually cares. Said something to the effect of let him know what he could do. When I DM him I get no response. Overall my quality of life is greatly diminished. I can't be in semi loud environments period. No more concerts, no more enjoying music. High frequencies sound like a squelch, and eventually just static if it goes even moderately loud. It's caused me a great deal of problems at work. I'm having to look for another job or transfer to another department because I can't hear on the floor. Within the last 6 months a new symptoms affecting my balance has come up. When I turn my head left or right and stop my vision continues going in that direction. It's truly a nightmare. And the worst part about it is there is no true treatment. I have lost over 20db in both sides in under 3 years. Sooner or later I will have to get hearing aids. Tinnitus that is so loud that I can hear it while I'm driving in my car. It pulsated sometimes. I found another doctor that put shims inside my Eustachian tubes on both sides. This helped my PET symptoms a lot but it lowered my hearing dramatically. It's not a good feeling when you're 37 years old, standing 5 feet from a group of people talking and have to look at their mouth while they are speaking to make sure you hear everything. It's a heart skipping moment when you realize that you're losing your hearing. And it's an angry moment when I can't blame myself. Some rich doctor did this to me 100 percent. Told me on the phone that I signed the paperwork saying this could happen. Other than that I've gotten zero empathy from this monster. Truly what I see him as. A straight up monster. Ruined my life. Dudes a joke. All the people in his office have been good to me. Very respectful. I've caught the doctor in lies about the procedure. He's changed his story a few times. He cares about his money and that's pretty much it. I never tried to sue him but you could tell he was concerned by the way he would never admit any fault. Like I've said in other reviews and will say in many more. I hate this doctor. I have nothing for him. He's a piece of trash to me. He cares nothing about his patients wellbeing. If you're an honorable man you fix your mistakes, bare minimum admit them. This guy is pathetic. If he messes up your ears don't expect anything but to make sure you pay the bill. I'll find every single place to write reviews for this guy so maybe somebody can avoid the humiliation of some negatively altering their life and not even having the guts to apologize. read more

I went in wanting the bump on my nose removed, the tip to not be so round, and there not to be a cleft at the tip of my nose. All of those problems are still there, my nose is now wider and curves to one side at the end. I have expressed concerns about it being wider since my first post op appointment and was told he did not make it wider at all, it was just swelling. I did steriod injections to decrease the "swelling", but the problems only got worse with time. My 1 year post op I expressed concerns about a nerve issue from the side of my nose to my upper lip. I was told that was 'weird' and given no answers about why I could no longer evenly move both sides of my upper lip. When asked about the look of my nose, Dr. Leeman became short and dismissive. Still telling me the nose was not wider. He then wanted me to pay more to have him fix it. One why would I want to let someone who made my nose worse than before touch it again, and why would I want someone who tells me I am making up issues that aren't there to touch my nose again. Look at the pictures I have attached I think they speak for themselves. I have looked into having a revision rhinoplasty, and it cost 13,000 to 15,000 dollars, so the procedure from Dr. Leeman is going to cost so much more than I was ever expecting. read more

Several months ago, I started seeing Lexi (Medical Esthetician) at Dr. Leeman's office for the treatment of some spider veins and am so happy that I found her! I was referred to Dr. Leeman due to a constant sore throat. He said he wanted to use a camera to look at my throat and sprayed something to numb the gag reflex. After that I was approached to pay a co-insurance. I would not have done the procedure but since I was already numbed I went ahead. He confirmed what I always easy knew the problem was. Then I get my insurance statement in and they charged me more than 4 times what I was supposed to pay. I call them and now I have to wait for up to 30 days to get refunded. They sure didn't wait 30 days to overcharge me. read more

I had an awesome experience at this office! I came into the office with horrible TMJ pain and Kenneth was able to help me with all of my concerns. He injected Botox into my jaw and I noticed improvement within one day! Also the rest of the staff was very friendly and helpful! I had a couple appointment with Daniel Leeman 20 years ago. Since then I have emailed, unsubscribed and called requesting to be removed from his marketing email lists. My wife had to have a procedure that turned into a much bigger problem than anyone thought it would. As a long time health care professional in Central Texas, I tend to be very critical and questioning about local providers, especially as pertains to my family. Here is the email I sent to staff and asked to give to Dr. Leeman: I realized after we got off the phone that I won't be back. Trust is the main thing with a doc. He lost mine. As I said, if a doc doesn't have a bedside manner and is good, I can deal with that. But when a doc can't even communicate to his own people what needs to be done, then, when they call with incorrect wrong information three weeks later after he didn't tell them what to do, well, maybe what he put in the case notes was wrong or wasn't even there. I don't know. Then because of the next procedure being put off until the end of Nov. (a total of 10 weeks after his screw up)? I came to him to breathe again. I'm still using nose strips and occasionally Affrin. How long do I have to wait? If you'd have come back to me today saying we can get you in next week, it probably would have been ok. I can appreciate he's busy, but, no thanks. Don't bother trying to get me in. I'll find a doc whom I can trust. Please give him this email. Sad part is, I doubt he'll learn anything from this. Yeah, and if you're reading this doc, next time you are 3 hours late to a surgery, even if it's because something didn't go well in your earlier surgery, apologize. It's simply good form. My time is just as important as your time. You can also read that last sentence as meaning - just because you are a doctor doesn't mean you are any better than anyone else or that you get to skate on manners. You just do something different from the rest of us. Not in the email, but for anyone reading this - I've thought a lot about this. It complaints may seem a small thing. However, in looking back at this, the issue was a repeated and ongoing lack of communication, because his not apologizing after my 3 hour delay, which I didn't care about because I knew he was taking care of someone else, was a lack of communication to me, too. In addition, after my last visit, I remembered something that might have had a bearing on the next procedure and wrote him an email. I know he got that email, but I never heard anything. So, again, I was minimized by his lack of communication. read more
