After having a very personal conversation with a friend about late 40's changes in life, she recommended that I contact Premier Health. My first point of contact was Angela and she was a wealth of knowledge, empathy and laughs. I really appreciated having a 20 minute conversation that helped put me at ease as all of this is new to me. Angela also provided me with emails that thoroughly explained all that they offer as well as the cost. I love that they only take 7-8 clients a day as to keep the integrity of each visit. Your appointments are broken up into two sessions where the first consists of a meeting with Dr. Edgerton or his NP Denise. During this visit, they go over your concerns, medical history and any and all questions that you may have. You are then provided a request for labs which consists of a complete and total panel. During your second visit, they go over your labs and from there you discuss your options for treatment. I was referred to Dr. Edgerton about 2 years ago. I was skeptical and a little concerned about messing with my hormones as I enter menopause - I mean there's a reason our bodies do what they do as we age, right? Family history of estrogen-receptive breast cancer was my primary concern with supplementing my hormone levels. Dr. E did all of the necessary testing to ensure I didn't have the BRCA genes before moving forward which was key for me. He went over each of the hormones (progesterone, estrogen and testosterone along with thyroid levels) and explained what they do and came up with a plan to help me with energy levels, brain fog, sex drive, sleep patterns, etc. In addition, he will cover healthy eating practices along with healthy food literature for you to read. His practice is a membership where you pay a monthly fee (discounted if you pay for a year in advance) but you then receive "free" checkups throughout the year. He will have you get bloodwork (in my case my labs are covered by my insurance) before your appointments. He can then alter meds as needed to get you to the optimal level for YOU. When I started experiencing some hair loss from the testosterone (this doesn't happen to everyone as my loss was exacerbated due to a family history on my father's side) we cut back on the testosterone. Bottom line is...he listens and helps make the aging process a little easier on the mind and body for overall well-being. He also carries a line of supplements which I highly recommend - from vitamins to specialized supplements for colon, energy, etc - they're amazing and actually work. If you're on the fence like I was, at least do yourself a favor and request a consultation. His staff is just as amazing as he is. I have been seeing Dr. Edgerton for over a year and his work and care have changed my life. After five years of postponement and nervousness, I finally decided to schedule an appointment with a gynecologist. I found Dr. Edgerton via twitter, and was impressed by his take on improving a woman's health. And so, after years of suffering with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), I finally found a doctor who had a different view on treating it; rather than masking it with birth control and pain pills (as my previous gynecologist had done). Today was my first appointment, and I must say, I'm rather pleased with the outcome. I had my well woman exam, and after discussing my concerns, he's ordered a very thorough blood test. Next week, he'll sit down with me at my next appointment to provide me with a treatment plan. In the meantime, he urged me to watch what I eat and continue exercising as I've been doing. It was through him that I found out that women with PCOS have to work twice as hard to lose weight and maintain it. I'm eager to learn more and will definitely report back. I CAN'T BELIEVE the treatment I got from this doctor's office! I wish I could get in to see Dr. Edgerton so I can get help like many other people here, help I think I've been needing for years but that conventional medical doctors don't offer, but I couldn't even get past the office staff! I recently had ultrasounds (two) and blood work done (also twice) that show that I have fibroid tumors and am severely anemic (iron deficiency), so was advised by my primary care doctor to go see an ob/gyn to talk about my options. I called Dr. Edgerton's office to get an appointment. After setting the time and date, the lady making the appointment started to hang up and I asked her if she needed my regular doctor information or any info on how to get copies of test results sent over. She hemmed and hawed, saying that will be taken care of at the doctor's visit. I pressed and she kept offering excuses and "explanations" of why they didn't need to get records, but if I had them to bring them. I pressed more, saying I didn't have all of them and that the doctor needed the test results and ultrasound results because how can he talk to me about my options when he doesn't even know what's wrong with me. She finally said she'll let me talk to the medical assistant. The medical assistant calls me back. She says the other woman was right, that how can they get medical records if I've never seen them before, if I'm a new patient? Well, they do exactly what Dr. Kumar's office did, the doc I saw just yesterday ~ I tell them where the records are and they request them. Simple, right? Standard operating procedure, right? Apparently not. I tried to explain again to the medical assistant that I didn't have time nor money to go to one appointment just to have the doctor look at me and say, "Well, once I get the test results and go over them, you can come back and we'll talk about your options." Again, that's not what happens commonly with other doctors. They get the records ahead of time, go over them, then are able to talk intelligently about what may be wrong with me and where we go from here. This is what all doctors do, right? One visit instead of two? It has been that way in my experience at least. Or does this doctor just want to get patients in to as many visits as he can so he can bill for all those extra visits? I was hesitant to go see Dr. Edgerton in the first place because his website and other reviews I've read kind of made me feel like he was pushing other money-making things to do just that ~ just make a lot of money. But I thought about it at length and decided I'd give it a try since I really do have a feeling I can benefit from hormone help. This experience makes me feel like that first feeling was the right one. A final note: I wrote this review two months ago, shortly after it happened, while I was still quite upset. I decided to sit on it for a while to give myself time to cool off - I didn't want my anger at the time to color my review. It's now two months later and, upon rereading, I haven't changed a thing. Wow, what an amazing place. Dr. Edgerton, Holly Stanger NP and the Acupuncturist/Massage Therapist and their staff have a very 'natural' approach to health. The strategy is to take you to 'optimal health', with a big emphasis on preventative medicine. The location is very convenient, right downtown by Whole Foods. Parking is easy and you can walk right into the adorable 'old house' feel. The decor is updated inside, cheery colors that definitely make you 'at home'. Relaxing couches, TV, free coffee and a friendly front desk receptionist named Ashley will greet you. Oh, I almost forgot! They have a house dog! Her name is Aruba and she's a light colored golden retriever. I'm told that she helps and heals patients as well. I myself started as a GYN patient. I was looking for a doc that really specialized in my demographic and wasn't always running out of the room or making me wail while delivering babies. Really enjoyed Karen, the medical assistant and Dr. E had a very professional bed side manner. He was down to earth, easy to talk to and didn't make me feel rushed when I was asking him questions. So yes, if you need your annuals- go to him or Holly. Very quick and easy! After a few months my health symptoms started changing (I'm peri menopausal). I called the office was referred to Melissa and later to Stacey and Shari- they all took the time to listen, but also helped me strategize my insurance to make sure I could get some additional tests that I needed. (WHO does this anywhere else?) It was so nice to have someone verfifying my insurance and actually looking out for me! This is what lead me to my review actually- was 'hormone balancing'. Since I wasn't quite menopausal I felt in that space between with my symptoms. I started by coming to the office and doing a in depth medical history with Holly, the NP. Next I went to the lab and did some blood work. Shortly after that I met with Dr. Edgerton to go over my results. Although I wasn't crazy out of range on some things after being 'optimized' with hormones my life began to change. All of those weird symptoms went away, I started losing weight, my brain calmed down and I was able to sleep better. In a word, AWESOME. I had no idea I could feel this great- AND I will keep feeling this great all the way through menopause! yay me! As I moved forward in my health care, I took advantage of some of the other services that they provide. Fantastic evidence based Acupuncture and Massage are just the tip of the ice burg. Additional testing for food allergies, gut issues brain health and a weight loss detox system. They even do laser hair removal- Crystal the aesthetitian is fabulous- and I hear they even have a new skin care line that uses probiotics- super natural. I had been having health issues, I had a small laundry list of complaints including brain fog and terrible fatigue but when my libido hit rock bottom at 31 I had had it! I even tried a very strict raw food diet and nothing seemed to make it go away. So after doing alot of reading and suspecting that I had nutritional deficiencies and hormonal imbalance I searched for a doctor here in town to do the blood work and help me feel better. The first doctor I went to did blood work that confirmed some pretty severe imbalances. Though they were able to help me get my iron and B-12 back up, they were extremely reluctant to prescribe bio-identical hormones for my other problems and I was still feeling terrible and not seeing results. That's when I found Dr. Edgerton and Premier Health and Wellness. Dr. Edgerton is awesome! He did even more blood work and in our first appointment we had almost an hour to really talk through the symptoms that I was having and go over all the test results. His knowledge of women's issues, thyroid problems, hormonal imbalance, adrenal fatigue and low vitamin D is very thorough. With the right dosage of bio- identical hormones and key supplements for energy and sleep I'm feeling amazing. I only wish that I would have found him ten years ago! Getting my hormones sorted out has also made my periods pretty easy and my PMS is way better, and that's saying alot since those things used to be just awful. Oh and my workouts changed completely after taking the bio-identicals for a couple months, instead of being totally drained and a zombie after working out I was finally getting stronger and being able to push myself, the difference is incredible. I've been seeing Dr. Edgerton for about a year now and over that time we have continued to do follow up blood work to see how things are going and tweak supplements and hormones as needed. I'm in my 30's and am so glad that I was able to find someone that took me seriously and helped me to feel better. All the staff is amazing as well and they are there for you if you have any questions. I really can't recommend this practice enough. I think all women would benefit from getting their hormone levels checked along with important things like vitamin D. The Very Best. Caring. Ethical. Efficient. Premier Health & Wellness is Great! I love the Doctor and Staff at Premier Health & Wellness. I went to them after years of problems following a Hysterectomy and a very bad experience at Austin HWC (Hormone Wellness Center). At HWC you didn't get to see the Doctor and they "repeatedly" overdosed me causing my hair to fall out ( didn't pay attention to my labs). Dr. E is wonderful! I meet with him EVERY APPOINTMENT and together we go over my labs, discuss my symptons, plan of attack for moving forward. He's been very careful with me, ensuring we get my hormones up while protecting my health, hair, other. I had 0 hormones when we started and was in extreme deficit. Felt terrible, was scared and angry about how I felt and previous experiences. Dr. E has earned my trust. Over time we've improved my numbers, improved my health. We are still working on things, we're not done and it is a process, however, great progress has been made. I'm stable in many areas, working on others, feel good about the Hormone Therapy program, the care I'm receiving. This is an extremely ethical practice. My husband is also a patient and is getting good results from his own Hormone Therapy Program. Now about the wonderful Stacey. I've had to work with Stacey a lot! She helps me get the right supplements, checks me out after every appointment, helps me with invoices especially the correct documents for using my health care funds. I am floored by the results after only one month. I didn't have any serious complaints - just started feeling "old". I also felt like something was hindering my weight loss. I did a complete food sensitivity screening & learned that some of the healthy foods I had been eating apparently didn't agree with me (kale, egg white, etc.). I was prescribed small does of thyroid & testosterone - enough to bring me back to levels of someone in their 20's. Dr. Edgerton is very thorough and has addressed my many issues including my low vit D, low Progesterone causing sleeplessness, and treating things like my PCOS. I took birth control for 14 years and I was surprised to find out from Dr Edgerton that birth control pills INCREASE your chances for breast cancer. I feel great now, and am no longer tired, I sleep all night and look at least 7 years younger than I did. I went to Premier for laser hair removal. I saw Kory Toro for my treatment. Kory was super friendly and very welcoming. Her room is simply beautiful. I was in severe pain and unfortunately none of the doctors I had seen were able to figure out what was wrong and I was essentially told my next option was to be referred to a pain clinic.
