In between those messages I also was sent a message to say I had a different appt. which needed to be changed because the dental hygienist was not going to be there. I DID NOT have an appointment to have my teeth cleaned but was referred to have an evaluation for a toothache under the bridge. They apologized to say it was an error, again. After searching for a new dentist (due to moving) I was enthusiastically recommended Dr. Martenson by a co-worker. Since being a patient at Piedmont Dental by Design, I have had a cleaning, numerous composites/fillings and a new crown installed. During my first visit, it was made clear that Dr. Martenson (or someone on her team) read through my chart, as she specifically brought up my proclivity to not numb well. Instead of wasting time in the beginning of my restorative care appointments by giving me the standard dose, she has given me extra anesthetic, to ensure I am comfortable. Her injection technique is also amazing, as I haven't felt the usual pinch of pain. Reading a patient's chart shouldn't be impressive, but I find most doctors ask questions I've already answered and act surprised when I give a response. My composites and crowns are also the most cosmetically impressive work I have ever had. My newest crown looks exactly like a real tooth. The other 5 from previous dentists all have an opaqueness which screams "fake". My composites also blend flawlessly into the tooth. Manny was my hygienist- he was gentle, communicative, and did an excellent job removing years of coffee stains I thought were forever. The office staff has submitted necessary paperwork to my insurance in a very timely manner. I did have to pay for procedures in full, then wait for a reimbursement check. I could see this as problematic for people, but they did offer me a payment plan. As for the actual prices, I've googled and talked to friends about what they pay for various procedures...for the quality of work and care, I think every dime is well spent here.

I've always had teeth issues/weak enamel and a lot of sensitivity, and my mouth became a little more complicated a few years ago with onset of a chronic inflammatory condition that affects my mouth (OLP). The staff here is SO patient and gentle, and go above and beyond to help me avoid too much friction and other triggers. I feel very comfortable and trust their care. I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Sharon Albright's office, both with the dental work…read moreand with the front-desk staff. I came in as a new patient to have three damaged fillings repaired. Before scheduling, I specifically called to ask about insurance coverage because the practice was out of network. The explanation I received from the front desk led me to believe that my insurance would cover approximately 80% and that I would be responsible for the remaining balance and copay. Based on that conversation, I expected to pay roughly $500-$600. Instead, I later received a bill of approximately $1,500. When I asked the office staff to explain the charges and how the out-of-network coverage worked, they were dismissive and extremely rude. I ultimately had to figure out the insurance structure myself. A clear explanation upfront would have prevented much of the confusion. More importantly, the fillings were left uneven, creating a raised area that caused significant pain whenever I bit down. I remained in pain for approximately a month and had to return to the office twice to have the fillings adjusted. During the first follow-up, the dentist checked my bite and shaved the fillings, but the problem was not fully corrected, requiring another visit. During the second visit, while I was still experiencing pain from the dental work, the front-desk staff made me feel as though I should be grateful that the office was correcting work that should have been completed properly in the first place. They also treated me as though I might not pay my bill and would not allow me to see the dentist until payment was made. I understand requiring payment, but the way the situation was handled was unnecessarily disrespectful and humiliating. After this experience, I decided not to return. I later received a reminder for a previously scheduled cleaning, along with a warning that I would be charged if I did not cancel. The office only allowed cancellation by phone, adding another inconvenience to an already poor experience. Overall, I had to make two additional visits, experienced pain for about a month, received misleading information about my financial responsibility, and was treated very poorly by the front-office staff. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice.
