It was my first visit so it was a preliminary exam and the x-ray technicians were competent and patient with my mobility issues. Dr. Gupta referred me to an endodonist with a very clear and thorough explanation reflecting his professional knowledge. My complaint is with the clerical issue by sending me 7 messages asking me to fill out forms to guarantee my being seen if not done within 24 hours about which I called to question and was told it was an error. In between those messages I also was sent a message to say I had a different appt. which needed to be changed because the dental hygienist was not going to be there. I DID NOT have an appointment to have my teeth cleaned but was referred to have an evaluation for a toothache under the bridge. They apologized to say it was an error, again. The office could use a bigger sign as it was difficult to find. I had to make a u turn as I missed it the first time! read more

Dr Gupta and staff are the best. With Dr Gupta I never feel rushed. He takes time to answer all my countless questions and concern. He has restocked his schedule several times for me when the day before my knee replacement surgery he saw my to repair a fractured tooth. If Dr Gupta did not change his schedule to see me I would have had to wait over 4 months to get my tooth fix as post knee surgery they advise no dental surgery post 4-6 months after knee surgery. Dr Gupta is also well trained on all the latest technological options and procedures. His staff is very warm and friendly which makes time in the chair pass by quickly. read more

From the moment i walked in, i wasn't greeted and really didn't feel welcomed at all. After I walked up to the counted and explained that I had an appointment, i was immediately told that i had a $30 "copay" anything extra would be out of pocket. When I asked what my insurance would cover, I was told "we see that you have Delta dental and while we except the fees from them, we do not except their 'table of allowance' If the doctor decides to do another x-ray then you would have to pay an extra $40" Which is entirely different information than what was told to me over the phone. I had already spent $30 on an Uber just to get to my dentist appointment. I was stuck at this point. Otherwise I wouldn't have given these people anymore of my time. Also, this dental office is 'in network' with my insurance company. Anyway, the doctor spent maybe 10 minutes looking at the area that was causing me pain and said I need a root canal. He said he would give me a referral and after my root canal is done, I can come back to get a crown put on. Upon check out, i was given the referral to see a specialist and a prescription for some antibiotics. The receptionist said "after your root canal, your insurance will be maxed out so you'll have to pay full price for the crown when you come back" then hands me a paper with an estimate of $1221.00 That's not how insurance works. There isn't just a set amount. There are different coverage limits for different procedures. I felt like they were just lying to get money out of me. Monies in which I dont have. I then called Delta dental and explained my experience and what I had to pay. The sweet lady i spoke to confirmed that my co-pay was actually less. Per contract "the dental office is not allowed to charge an amount that is more or less than what's written in their contract agreement". And that I might have just paid full price for an x-ray. So again, I believe this dental office, Oakland Smiles Dentistry, lied to me and had me just to get extra money. What a bunch of crooks!! read more
