These guys are always super nice and knowledgeable. They've helped me pick soil for my garden and buy a yard of dirt they loaded in a huge bag into my trailer. They've driven me around their yard in a Mule and loaded up 5 gal buckets of tiny pebbles. I've called them and had them deliver a dump truck full of crushed granite. Never expected a lot of service with a stone yard. They usually focus on truck loads of product. NOT HERE! They really go out of there way to help every though I was only getting a dozen buckets of rock. They are great and I will always make that drive out to them when I need rock, sand or gravel. Imagine a company with country values; responsive and easy to work with. They have pretty good prices, although I felt the delivery fee was a bit high (but it is Wimberley, so....) I first got prices, via email. Then I had the stone (4 tons) delivered to a home that we aren't yet occupying. When it was time for the delivery, they called and got my credit card, then left the stone on the driveway. I was impressed to find they delivered the materials in large bags, on wood pallets (much neater than expected). Side note, the delivery bags are $15 but you can return for a $10 refund. Pallets disappear like magic--free on Craigslist disappears then every time. Prices were competitive, they delivered fast, were easy to wok with. What's not to love? Oh and it's pretty rock. Do not trust this business any longer. Daniel got bought by a larger company recently, and the new company runs very poorly. I bought paid for limestones and delivery. They never delivered the material. When I asked why it took them a while to dig their records, they told me they sold the ones I selected to another buyer, and it will be sometime in the future they can get mine to me. read more

We have visited so many stoneyards in our quest to re-landscape the property we bought in 2012. Daniel's was by far the best selection & service and most helpful of them all. We were able to find everything we needed plus a great tip on a mason who they said was "the guy" for rock and stone work. Scott Boniwell of Custom Stonework sources most of his quarry stone there. He responded immediately after emailing him. His quote was in line, and we've already begun our stone path and sidewalk. Prep work is done and materials begin arriving in the morning. I've bought thousands of dollars of gravel and stone from these guys and planned to buy thousands more in the future. But they wanted to charge me a full delivery fee $80 for a second drop a few blocks from the first drop. I called the guy and told him about how much I business I've done with him and if he wanted to keep the relationship. He said there is nothing I can do. Cancelled the order. I'll go back to Custom Stone where I've done thousands of dollars of business in the past. These guys stupid. If I lived in SW Austin I'd keep using them even though they are stupid dudes. read more

Rocks! Lots and lots of rocks, boulders and gravel. Hardscape is xeriscape, replace your lame ass lawn with some shrubs and boulders. Daniel stone has a very solid selection of local and trucked in stone at fairly competitive prices. Delivery is reasonable as well. Feel free to check out the dozen or so stoneyards on the way to Drip, but these dudes have the best selection. read more

Can't praise their customer service enough. I recently had 4 pallets of sod delivered on two consecutive weekends, one delivery was doing fantastic, the other, not AS fantastic... I gave them a call on a Friday, and was told that Kelly Daniel was out but would get back in touch the following Monday and to give him a call. Called first thing Monday morning and Kelly made a special trip out to our house to assess the situation personally, gave me some steps to try and told me to get back in touch to let him know how things were progressing. He even gave me his personal cell-phone so I could get in touch with him directly. Said if the first treatment doesn't work, let him know and they'll send their "grass doctor" out to try and remedy the situation. It's so nice to find a business that still believes in customer service and I couldn't recommend them more highly. I'll definitely be using them for my landscaping needs from now on... read more

What more could you ask for: Great selection, competitive prices, delivery that's customized/palletized and WAY better than dumping a pile on your driveway! Juan is the manager here and he's very helpful. I've used them 3 times for different projects and not disappointed. My only "warning" - they don't have a high-quality garden soil, so if you get their blend, you'll need to amend with compost and good nutrients. read more

We got a bunch of quotes for delivery of rock for our house. Not only did these guys offer the fairest price of ANYONE in the Austin area, but they patiently answered all my questions over the phone and sent the delivery out in less than a week. Delivery went smoothly. We've also visited them on-site and they've been incredibly helpful in helping us choose stones for our landscaping project, even though we are a small residential customer. Now I know much other Austin landscaping supply companies are absolutely robbing their customers price-wise. read more

I went to the Daniel stone yard to look at the samples and then I ordered 1-3" river rock when they arrived a week later they were more like 3"-7". The large rocks looked odd in my yard and I don't like the way it turned out. A guy stopped by to check the situation and told me that was normal and they never take back what was delivered. The rocks are definitely bigger than what I had seen in the gravel yard. I have been sifting the bigger rocks out one by one by hand and plan to buy some 1-2" to tune down a little bit. what a frustrating experience. My suggestion to you is trying to pick up the rocks by yourself if you can so you know what you actually get. read more

I first entered the office two gentleman were there and one said "hi". The phone immediately rung and both of them rushed to answer it. The one who didn't get the caller looked unhappy and apparently couldn't help me anyway. I had to wait for the one who was on the phone to help me once he was finished with his call. I asked to see the Moss Dry stack that I saw on their website. He didn't seem to know what I was talking about but did request someone to to take me around the yard. I waited. He requested again that someone take this "young lady" (I'm pushing 50) around the yard to look at dry stack. A very friendly man took me to look at dry stack and flagstone for a retaining wall. He didn't know anything about building a retaining wall and never used dry stack. Back at the office I wanted to know how much flagstone I would need to purchase for my specific measurements. The man never got off his chair and could not tell me how much I would need only guessing about half a ton since flagstone is usually measured differently. So, I didn't get to see what they advertised on their website, I didn't get advise on what to use for my project, and they couldn't tell me how much I would need of a product I thought might work. If you're concerned about not getting help for your small residential project here, you are right. read more

They drove her out, loaded up the stones for her, and treated her as a priority even as massive trucks were coming and going taking huge orders. This review is a year late. I bought some St. Augustine from them a year ago for a huge project in my front yard. They honored the reservation for grass, I got there and it was obvious my truck was not big enough. One of their employees offered to deliver the second half of my order on his way home from work. He did and then even helped unload it in my front yard for free on his off time. (of coure I tipped him well). The grass held up good. I am a woman and was so nervous about laying my own sod. It turned out so good, my neighbors stopped and asked where I got my grass. I highly recommend these guys. They are customer service oriented starting wth the initial phone call to ask about their grass. read more

I've been a small-home-project customer for many years, but not enough to be known at Daniel Stone. Each Spring, I pick a yard project to do and order materials to be delivered by DS. This year, I started with just a pallet of grass. Due to storms in the supply chain area, my order was cancelled twice by DS. I called and ordered a third time. On the day of the scheduled delivery, nothing arrived. When I called, I was not on the schedule. It was frustrating because I'd been trying to get this little grass project done for awhile! When I questioned why, they said they would research and call me back. They called back and explained exactly what happened and exactly how they were going to make it right with a fair discount. They apologized. They took ownership of the error. They delivered the next day. I am not finding this type of great customer service very often, especially from a company that rarely makes mistakes anyway. They could have blown me off for my measly order, but they didn't. And I appreciate them for this and for the quality of the materials they provide. I will always be a returning customer and highly recommend Daniel Stone. read more

I needed some St. Augustine grass for a bare area on my lawn. I called them and asked if they sold by the piece as I did not need a whole palette's worth. They obliged and even recommended that Palmetto would be better for shade. I found their pricing very reasonable. I ordered it and it arrived when they told me it would. I went to pick it up and their men even helped me load it into my SUV. So far the grass looks great and it is holding up very well with recommended watering. I am very pleased. I would shop there in the future for other landscaping needs. They have a wonderful display of various stones and granites which got me thinking of other projects...To Be Continued... read more

Be careful when you are buying mulch from this company. If you buy a quantity in full yards such as 1,2 ,3 etc it's one price but if you buy 1/2 yard such as 1 1/2, or 2 1/2 they will charge you more for the 1/2 yard. The only explanation I got was "the bosses orders". Not fair especially if you are buying more than 1 yard to begin with. read more

Problem solved! I received an email from the owner (?) of Daniel Stone apologizing for both the initial confusion and the prolonged delay in a resolution. I was offered a refund for the price of the 2 cubic yards of dirt totaling $100. My wife went to the on site sales office and picked up the cash refund. So, more of happy ending.
