I had walked the property with him, pointed out the areas to be cleared, identified and marked trees to save, showed him old piles that needed to be moved/burned and we negotiated a fair price. I followed up with texts along with detailed instructions as well as maps with the areas that needed to be cleared. He confirmed receipt of the instructions and replied all will be done. Only one worker (Dano) showed up and Monte was a no show. He even laughed that "maybe he'd show up". I live out of the area, but was in town for the initial part of the clearing. Unfortunately, I was called away on business and left before the completion and couldn't perform a final inspection. Monte assured me everything was done and since he was a referral from a good source, I trusted him and sent payment. However, after recently visiting our property, only about 2/3 or 3/4 of the job was completed and he never came back to burn a large pile even though he said he would after the burn ban was lifted in the area last October. For the areas that were cleared, his company did an excellent job, taking care to save smaller live oaks, red oaks and larger, mature cedar. They did a good job, but didn't complete it. After numerous attempts to contact him over the last month had failed (he doesn't return texts, pick up the phone and the voice mail is full) to make it right and complete the job, I have no other recourse other than to leave negative reviews where I can on the internet. YMMV, but I'm very disappointed with his lack of professionalism to return messages, his ability to run a business, his word and his company's overall thoroughness.
