Our experience at MEEI was horrible from rude staff, unreliability where they didn't return our calls, and more. This place was just above and beyond in comparison!! And felt as if we were at a "5 star hotel" for a private office compared to MEEI's 2.5 star hotel rating... Parking is tight at one of their office location (West Roxbury), but the medical center in Norwood and other place had parking which was helpful! And was free. After deciding to go with this specialist due to their experiences, knowledge, and care (unlike MEEI's), they were responsive to our questions and calls. We appreciated that a great deal. We absolutely adore Mary, one of their office staff in addition to the attending nurses (all were great) and the doctors too!

During my first... and last... meeting with Dr. Daniel Schwartz, I found him to be unprofessional,…read moreborderline rude, and lacking the people skills necessary for someone in the health-care profession. While attempting to describe my concerns regarding my vision problems, I was interrupted with harsh lectures from Dr. Schwartz concerning the limitations my condition requires. He was quick to stress the negative impact of my situation, but not as anxious to offer encouragement, support, or treatment options. Receiving bad news during an exam is difficult... and certainly not the fault of the doctor. But knowledge and experience alone do not make for a successful practice. A responsible "bedside manner" is also necessary to allow for a healthy doctor/patient relationship. Dr. Schwartz obviously disagrees.

It is a privilege to write about Dr. Sang and her team. Not only is Dr. Sang an elite and amazing…read moredoctor, but she shows compassion and really cares. Sometimes, that makes you feel better and is more needed than the treatments! At a time when I feared losing my vision due to macular degeneration, she was reassuring and supportive , and always answers my never ending list of questions, and with patience. Another side of Dr. Sang that I recently learned about is her mentorship. There are a group of young college grads working there who are taking a gap year and preparing to get into medical school. She is so giving and proud of how many of these interns have gone on to great careers. Each time you go for an appointment, it's a "major production." There are so many steps in the process and I have come to understand why it takes so long -- they take no shortcuts! There is a huge staff that supports Dr. Sang and each one has a specialty, from the people who answer the phone and make appts. to the people who do complicated eye scans. I don't envy the appt. people as everyone seems to want a different time -- including me -- and it's hard to make everyone happy, although they try. I guess my only complaint is that I wish I could turn back Dr. Sang's clock about 25 years so that she'd be in practice for another 25+ years. While she is around, I feel incredibly lucky for her to be my doctor!

Dr. Sang is the best doctor of any type that I have ever had. She is extraordinarily thorough,…read morehighly skilled, and takes as much time as necessary to go over every detail. She is also extremely warm, compassionate and can explain complex problems in a very clear way. I have been seeing her for many years ever since she did emergency laser surgery on me after an accident. Yes, sometimes the wait is long, but you are told in advance how much time to allow for your appointment. It is absolutely worth the wait if you want the most comprehensive, experienced evaluation/follow up. All the staff are great. Monica is a gem and all the technicians and students revere Dr. Sang, for good reason. I always take Dr. Sang's recommendations regarding other aspects of my health as well. She looks at my general health and reviews all my test results and gives me solid, thoughtful advice.

Waited months to get in for a worrisome mole (not just looks worrisome but symptoms are worrisome…read moretoo) by my eye to get looked at. Called and made the appointment, all my info was taken down and I put the visit in my calendar. When I arrived, they could even find me in the system... now they want me to wait another few months. When they made an error, why do I have to be the one to suffer? They obviously don't treat their patients concerns and schedules with respect and hopefully I don't end up with advancing disease because of their horrible treatment.

The prescription they gave me was wrong and the glasses I had made were unwearable. Thank goodness Costco replaced them with the correct prescription AFTER MY SECOND VISIT where they apologized for the mistake. They had many seniors waiting in the waiting room, so I think they do a fair amount of Medicare business ? It is a real run-them-thru assembly line of patients. AND my visit(s) cost over $400. If you dare go here make sure they are 100% in your network. I wish I had gone to Lenscrafter like my wife did where she was very pleased with the process. AVOID !
