Sometimes, that makes you feel better and is more needed than the treatments! At a time when I feared losing my vision due to macular degeneration, she was reassuring and supportive , and always answers my never ending list of questions, and with patience. Another side of Dr. Sang that I recently learned about is her mentorship. There are a group of young college grads working there who are taking a gap year and preparing to get into medical school. She is so giving and proud of how many of these interns have gone on to great careers. Each time you go for an appointment, it's a "major production." There are so many steps in the process and I have come to understand why it takes so long -- they take no shortcuts! There is a huge staff that supports Dr. Sang and each one has a specialty, from the people who answer the phone and make appts. to the people who do complicated eye scans. I don't envy the appt. people as everyone seems to want a different time -- including me -- and it's hard to make everyone happy, although they try. I guess my only complaint is that I wish I could turn back Dr. Sang's clock about 25 years so that she'd be in practice for another 25+ years. While she is around, I feel incredibly lucky for her to be my doctor!

I have been seeing her for many years ever since she did emergency laser surgery on me after an accident. Yes, sometimes the wait is long, but you are told in advance how much time to allow for your appointment. It is absolutely worth the wait if you want the most comprehensive, experienced evaluation/follow up. All the staff are great. Monica is a gem and all the technicians and students revere Dr. Sang, for good reason. I always take Dr. Sang's recommendations regarding other aspects of my health as well. She looks at my general health and reviews all my test results and gives me solid, thoughtful advice.

He explained the issue thoroughly, answered all my questions, and was overall very friendly and patient. No complaints. On my follow-up, though, I waited for an hour and a half to see him for less than five minutes for him to check my eye and give the all-clear. Fast forward to a year later, when I was truly apprehensive about another long wait time in the middle of a work day. This time, for an annual eye exam, I was in and out for about an hour, which wasn't too bad. The technician I saw before Dr. Kaufman was great - I wish I got his name. He was painstaking in making sure my prescription was right and going over what he was doing. Excellent bedside manner. So, all in all, I think this office has made improvements in reducing patient wait time. That said, one suggestion I have is to validate parking for patients. This is one of the few doctor's offices I've been to where they don't offer this and it bothers me - patients can wait up to an hour and the parking ticket (which isn't a flat rate) is one extra cost on top of the bill. The parking situation next to the office is also stressful. During peak times, the lot right next door is full or reserved for residents and you have to scramble to find another spot in the garage across the street.

A few years ago she performed PTK on one of my eyes to remove some scarring, and most recently she performed cataract surgery on my eyes. The results have been awesome. I could write about her great bedside manner and sense of humor; of course I could try to state what a great eye surgeon she is. And I could try to convey the precision and attention to detail she brings to her work. Instead, I'll point out how I have run into numerous people who came to Doctor Wu AFTER another eye surgeon had messed up. They knew that I shouldn't mess around with something like that so they had me in right away. 20 minutes later I was at the office. The receptionist was super nice, it was interesting they took down my info on a typewriter(I haven't seen one of those in years) but there was something charming about it. When I went to see the doctor he was super nice and the whole office was really comforting in general. The whole experience was fantastic(even though my eye was hurting) but Dr Weissman gave me a prescription for some medicine and made sure I would be ok. After waiting 28 minutes on hold and after telling the person who answered who my eye Doctor, what was happening to my eye, and that my PCP said I need to get it checked asap I was told they are scheduling for August and September (6&7 months later). I told this lady that I didn't think this was what why PCP meant by asap. She said that my PCP should send a referral and then maybe we can get you in in a month or so. I understand that health care today is stretched but on my eye Doctor's web page for the practice it says " accepting new patients ". Maybe you should take care of your current patients and if your so busy you can't see them in a reasonable time, then you should not be taking on new patients. I will be finding a new eye Doctor.
