Spent the next two and a half days riding home, hoping the bike would perform as expected. It did. Very happy, needless to say with the experience there.. Buyers are going to pay NM excise tax on the purchase price of the vehicle and registration fees no matter where they buy a vehicle BUT at Moto Authority buyers get gouged with an excessive document fee for Moto Authority making the trip to MVD. Moto Authority gets a commission for selling your bike and on top of that they gouge the buyer with an excessive document fee for their time. They should be satisfied with the commission on the sale of a bike they have no money invested in. They do provide floor space to display the bike and their overhead and operating costs are real BUT the sales commission should cover the trip to MVD. Moto Authority says that "For Over 17 Years: New Mexico's Preferred Choice for Motorcycles..." BUT that reputation was built by the old owner. The new owner(s) acts like a car dealer with inflated after the sale fees. When you want to sell your bike the smart move is to spend $5 and advertise your bike on Craigslist. The buyer will pay you directly and you won't pay commission to anyone. Then the buyer goes to MVD to pay the tax and registration fees without paying a document fee. That's MORE money in YOUR pocket and more money in the buyer's pocket. 10/11/25 EDIT to the owner: Your "document fees" are excessive and that is a FACT. If your consignment customers don't list their bikes on Craigslist and keep more money in theirs and the buyers pockets then they deserve what they get at Moto Authority. Your "pride" in your document fees won't get you what you think. I supported Moto Authority in the past and always got a fair deal from Steve but I wouldn't buy a quart of oil from you.

Well, what can I say about J & D Cycle? Firstly, thank you. I brought my bike in for what I…read morethought was going to be a routine service and hopefully, an intermittent issue that I had been dealing with for years would be addressed, instead of hearing the usual, "we weren't able to replicate the issue, so we don't know what you're referring to." Along with the usual service checks, their initial thought that I was missing a jet kit was correct. They also discovered that one of the diaphragms was damaged and sorted that out. Bike sounded great, ran great, job done. But, lo and behold, the damaged diaphragm wasn't the cause of the intermittent issue. Back I went, and wouldn't you know, my bike didn't misbehave at all in their care until I went to leave. Finally, a mechanic heard exactly what I had been trying to explain. So, back to work they went trying to chase down the problem. This was such an intermittent problem, they thought they had found the cause and fixed it. And once again, it reared its ugly head as I was about to leave. So back to work they went, once more checking everything over. After much head scratching and working through the usual culprits, the source of the problem had been isolated and addressed. I'm back on the road, and the bike no longer has an occasionally missing cylinder. Now the only question for me is, how far down that rabbit hole do I wish to go? I honestly can't recommend J&D cycles enough. When most bike shops only wanted oil changes or wouldn't touch a bike more than 10 years old (really??) J & D said, "Bring it in." I had an idea as to how much this was likely to run. What I was expecting it to cost and what it cost me in the end wasn't the same, it came in a little under what I thought it was going to cost me, so again, thank you!

The person left me with the impression that he didn't know how to change oil on a thumper as I heard laughing as he hung up the phone on me. Hey, sometime folks might be having a bad day and it has nothing to do with ownership. I've been…read moreworking with Reggie, the owner, for the past few months. My story is long... I got a new Subaru in 2018. I wanted King Kong to do my install of my two-way car alarm and my subwoofer with bass control. I was recommended this place by an old Audio Express guy I trusted who goes by "Doc." I knew not buying my items there would cost to install (of course if you buy from them install is less). I did buy insulation so my car doesn't rattle apart. It cost me $400 total. This first situation was no bueno. The guy installing my alarm was frustrated. He broke my subwoofer box, lost my fabricated box to protect my amp under my seat. Walked off the job after calling me and telling me my car was done-- and it wasn't. It was a mess. But they did their best on-the-spot to fix it. I was living in AZ at the time, they wanted me to keep it there, but I couldn't, but I was assured I could bring it back "whenever" to get it fixed. Flash-forward to 2021... I'm back in town and need my instillation fixed. I went to Reggie, told him what Subaru had been telling me. He uninstalled my alarm so Subaru could check my car out. No charge. My car got handled at Subaru, I called Reggie, told him Subaru told me that I could get it reinstalled. I contacted Reggie, he scheduled with my partner for a reinstall. On the day of, my partner came in, waited in the waiting room. They reinstalled my alarm. I've not had any issues with it for a bit. I'm hoping it's all been fixed. If not, I'm sure Reggie will work with me. The thing with cars is you have to be ready to work with the alarm staff and your dealership staff. Finding a place that installs your alarm and insures their instillation is important. Here we are 2+ years later and Reggie is here to make sure my alarm/stereo are working. Only because of the initial loss of investment with the lost fabrication box, and the fact that sometimes the woman at the front desk does not wear her mask (during a pandemic that is especially deadly to disabled folks like me) are the only reason that I'm not giving 5 stars. I will go there for upgrades in the future. I trust Reggie. I trust that he backs up his work, and takes ownership for his employees. This is important in the car industry. Trust. Loyalty. 10/10 would return!
