Hey, sometime folks might be having a bad day and it has nothing to do with ownership. I've been working with Reggie, the owner, for the past few months. My story is long... I got a new Subaru in 2018. I wanted King Kong to do my install of my two-way car alarm and my subwoofer with bass control. I was recommended this place by an old Audio Express guy I trusted who goes by "Doc." I knew not buying my items there would cost to install (of course if you buy from them install is less). I did buy insulation so my car doesn't rattle apart. It cost me $400 total. This first situation was no bueno. The guy installing my alarm was frustrated. He broke my subwoofer box, lost my fabricated box to protect my amp under my seat. Walked off the job after calling me and telling me my car was done-- and it wasn't. It was a mess. But they did their best on-the-spot to fix it. I was living in AZ at the time, they wanted me to keep it there, but I couldn't, but I was assured I could bring it back "whenever" to get it fixed. Flash-forward to 2021... I'm back in town and need my instillation fixed. I went to Reggie, told him what Subaru had been telling me. He uninstalled my alarm so Subaru could check my car out. No charge. My car got handled at Subaru, I called Reggie, told him Subaru told me that I could get it reinstalled. I contacted Reggie, he scheduled with my partner for a reinstall. On the day of, my partner came in, waited in the waiting room. They reinstalled my alarm. I've not had any issues with it for a bit. I'm hoping it's all been fixed. If not, I'm sure Reggie will work with me. The thing with cars is you have to be ready to work with the alarm staff and your dealership staff. Finding a place that installs your alarm and insures their instillation is important. Here we are 2+ years later and Reggie is here to make sure my alarm/stereo are working. Only because of the initial loss of investment with the lost fabrication box, and the fact that sometimes the woman at the front desk does not wear her mask (during a pandemic that is especially deadly to disabled folks like me) are the only reason that I'm not giving 5 stars. I will go there for upgrades in the future. I trust Reggie. I trust that he backs up his work, and takes ownership for his employees. This is important in the car industry. Trust. What makes King Kong Custom stand out to me is their customer service. I walked in there and Reggie Guzman helped me right away. He was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. He told me to come back on Tuesday to get the car alarm and stereo I had chosen installed and sure enough, when I showed up everything was ready go to. They even stayed open a little late so I could drop my vehicle off. When I came to pick it up we realized that the stereo I had chosen did not come with a removable face plate. If I brought it home, it would get ripped out right away. One of the guys stayed late and installed a stereo with a removable face plate for me because King Kong Custom is awesome. I went to King Kong Custom at the recommendation of Garcia Honda to have a dash/rear camera installed in my new suv. They quoted a reasonable price up front and stuck to it. Their policy is first come, first served so I made sure to get there right when they opened at 9am. Unfortunately, I hadn't considered the work that they had leftover from the prior day. So I ended up waiting seven hours for a 2-3 hour job to be completed. All-in-all the wait was well worth it. They did a fantastic job! The cameras looked like they were installed at the factory and they work great. All of the staff were great and friendly. Thanks guys... The only thing I would do differently next time is to make sure I have a ride home when I dropped the suv off. read more

Probably one of the worst places I've had to deal with II went in to get a wire fixed that needed to be ground and another wire that was loose . they did the job quick but there was a lot more that was damaged afterwards. Not recommending this shop to do any kind of work for me, be very careful. Instead of fixing the problem all you did is make more problems. Technician told me it says all they told me is to get it working good, which he did but not connectly. so they told me to bring it back and give A whole day to see if they can correct the problem . They do GPS tracking car alarms if it needs to be done to a car or want to be done to a car they can do it whether you just want something simple and small or if you want to complete restore from the ground up this is the place to go. They offer a lifetime warranty on all work do they do just take it back tell him there's not working and they will fix it. These guys are the best. read more

I had a really good experience with Reggie at King Kong Custom. I had called another place that had helped me a few years ago when my spare keys were stolen and who re-programmed my car alarm remote. When they didn't have a service tech in on Saturday (and my alarm was going off randomly in the night for the past two nights) they said to call Reggie. He was able to help me immediately and put my car in valet mode until I could let them keep it over night a few days later. He guessed it was the remote itself (which apparently was correct) and only seems to have charged me the part, even though I'm guessing he spent more time with my vehicle. He also fixed my valet button, which the dealership had broken years ago. Beside all this, Reggie seems like a genuinely nice person. While I brought my car in for alarm service, it looks like they do lots of other cool stuff related to custom auto and also offer a special oil change that only needs to be done about once a year, which I may check out later. Overall, it was just a really pleasant experience in a stressful situation. I would definitely contact them again. read more

King Kong is the only place in town that would take on a project of adding a Passive Keyless Entry and Push Button Start on my 2014 Mustang over a Compustar system, because of the perceived toughness of the project. They were also the only place in town that I could find who would work to do the prep and paint work on TPO plastic. In the end they pulled everything off flawlessly. They also clear coated carbon fiber parts, installed a new rear deck, front and rear camera system and replaced weatherstripping. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful, and personally delivered my car to multiple locations. I worked with Chris, who is a great person, even personally went to PepBoys to warranty a bad battery I purchased prior to the start of the project. This is one of the worst places to customize your car. I had them install leather and they ended up breaking three parts off of my car. I then had them re install those but they lost parts that they had to take off. I was extremely disappointed and will not be returning. (Also the car I drive is a Toyota Corolla) read more

Had them install an alarm with remote start , motion sensors the whole nine yards, complex install. Got my car back had some issues. Idk what happened but i snapped at one of the guys I felt super bad about it cause he hooked me up with the fix of my actuators for my doors. I definitely will go back to them. Good people , good work! I have had issues with my locks and random stuff ,made an appointment I chose to wait wasn't a big deal I hung out in the waiting area and watched tv. I needed two speaker cabinets built for my vehicle back at the end of 2016 and went to KKC to get an estimate for that. Preliminarily, I spoke to Kurt, and he gave me a price of from $100. to $150. I told him that I needed to wait to have them built until after the first of the month, which was about a week away. I returned a week later to make arrangements to get the work done. I again spoke to Kurt about the work, the price and when to drop the car off. He told me I had to be there before 9 AM the next day to drop the car off to get the work done. Even though I don't get up that early, I agreed to get the car there at 9. I returned the next morning at 8:50 to drop the car off. When I went inside at 9:00 to drop the key off, I was told that Kurt wasn't even there and would not be for another 45 minutes to an hour. I was also told the work I wanted would cost a minimum of $300. When I told the person there that Kurt told me it would cost me $100. to $150., he basically told me I was burnt. He asked me if I wanted Kurt to call me, and I said I did. I gave him my number and waited for Kurt to call, but the call never came. Now they are trying to say that what I asked for on the prior day and what I asked for when I dropped the car off less than 24 hours later had somehow changed. That's merely an excuse as to why they hit me with the bait-and-switch when I went to drop the car off. There was no change other than that I went in to drop off the car to have the work done. I explicitly told Kurt what I wanted the day before dropping the car off, and he never said anything about a price change. read more

Wasn't too pleased with my experience at King Kong. I purchased a remote start and an alarm with a couple extras. I set my appointment and came in when I was supposed to. At that time they tried to change the price on me after I had already paid statingmy car would need more labor than I originally paid for. I wasn't pleased but went ahead with it. After I left it for a couple hours I was called and told they couldn't install my remote start because my car didn't have software available yet. I wouldn't recommend them to a friend. Took new Tacoma directly from lot to King Kong to install new door speakers and subs. Kurt was very attentive and quickly recommended a system that met my music preferences. They built a custom box for the subs and was able to install everything within the quoted time. The quality of the install and sound completely exceeded my expectations. I called in yesterday to get an estimate. I had heard good things from a friend and needed some custom work done. Unfortunately the guy I talked to was extremely rude. After explaining my issue all I got was "yeah yeah yeah I heard you say that twice" sorry I was just trying to explain the issue I was having. I hung up in disgust at that point. I've worked in the service industry all my life and that's no way to treat a potential customer. They redid one of my windows that they messed up on only to mess it up again even worse. They take forever, I mean all day forever for just one window. I've been going to this locally-owned and operated business for years, and have had my body kit, head unit, speakers, and custom-installed subwoofers/LED display purchased and installed from here. They stand by their work and fix anything that breaks on it for little or no cost, and are always very friendly and helpful. The prices are comparable to audio express, installed, and the installation job is FAR superior. My car looks and sounds great, thanks to these guys, and it's always a pleasure to go in and talk to them. Walked in Wednesday afternoon with 2 people behind the counter. One talking to a friend and on facebook, the other looking at a computer screen. Another salesman was helping someone near the speakers. Not a single person acknowledged me when I walked in. After 10 minutes of awkwardly standing by the dvd screens obviously needing help, the salesman who was helping someone else came and helped me. The guys behind the counter didn't even make eye contact with me. The person who helped was nice, but at that point I was already upset. This was the 3rd auto customization shop I visited that day and I'm in the market to purchase $1000 worth of DVD screens for my new SUV. I went to King Kong for new stereo and truck-liner spray as undercoating. Everything got completed but undercoat was like a dusting not a thick projective coating. When i took vehicle back Curtis Lyon tracked and delivered the quality he promised. I brought my car in to have power door locks and a remote truck release installed. The shop itself is fairly professional looking but that's where the professionalism ends. I first talked to Reggie who I later found out was one of the owners. I talked to him on a Tuesday and make arrangements to bring my car in that Friday. I have to admit that I was kind of surprised how much they wanted to charge me for installing these power door actuators. I was quoted $485 which I know was almost all labor since the hardware was no more then $50 (full retail price). I was told they charge $80 an hour for labor, zoinks! Well I knew I'd end up messing up my car if I tried to do it myself after past experiences doing similar stuff and I also figured that there were not that many other options for this kind of work so went forward with it and made the appointment. I told Reggie that I wanted to have both a remote key fob and a button installed on the dash to lock/unlock the doors, he said that would not be a problem. After talking to Reggie I realized that I only talked to him about the door locks and not the truck release, so I called back a few minutes later and talked to someone else, I think his name was Fernando? (maybe not, it was something with an "F"). I asked him how much would it be to put in a remote trunk release, he told me it would be $130. I asked him if they could do it on the same day that they were doing my door locks and he said sure, no problem. I brought in my car when they opened at 9 AM and met Reggie. We went over the work that was suppose to be done and it turned out that he did not know that I called back about the trunk release, I guess Fernando didn't add that to the service order. They also didn't have the solenoid in stock so they were not going to be able to do the trunk that day. I was disappointed but still had them go forward with the door locks. I was told that this was going to take all day so I went home. After getting home I had a funny feeling that since that was not communicated that I needed to confirm some other stuff about what was going to be done, namely the added switch for the door locks that I wanted. So I called them and it was a good thing that I did because Reggie did not remember the switch, I told him if he can not put in the switch then don't do the work, he said that he would find a switch and get it done. The car was done sometime between 5 and 6 PM. I added a car alarm while I was at it since it only cost $50 more. Fernando also sold me a lifetime warranty for $25 more that Reggie was going to just throw in if he rang me up but whatever. Fernando said that they were going to order the solenoid for the trunk release and then would call me when it came in. A week goes by and I have not heard back from "KKC" so I called them, I was told that the part did come in and that I could come in the next day (a Saturday) to get it installed. I asked Fernando how long would it take to do the work and he told me 2 hours. I told him that I needed my car by noon and he said that if I brought my car in by 10 AM, when they open on Saturday that they would get it done by then so I agreed to bring my car in for them to do the work on Saturday. I reminded them that I needed my car by noon because I was going to need to be somewhere at 1 PM. I also asked if the trunk release was going to have a dash button to go along with the fob release, I was told that would cost extra which surprised me since I knew all the kits for this came with a wired release button. I told him that's okay, just program the fob's, I can live without the button. So, noon passes and I did not hear anything, I finally just went back to the shop about 12:30 and was told that the work was not done and not only that but that the car was at their other shop so I could not pick it up no matter what, WFT?! So at this point I have to give credit to Fernando, he gave me his personal car to use which I thought was really cool of him! So I took his car, did what I was going to do and came back about 5:30 PM. I was getting ready to pay when Reggie came by the front desk and asked if I was show where the button was? Fernando said no, he didn't know a button was installed? So it turned out that they did install a button because like I thought it came with one. We then checked it out and it all seemed to work, including the button. I then paid for the work and asked Fernando if he would give me a receipt which he forgot to do this time. The upside of this place is that they seem to do good work in that the stuff I came in for them to do everything seems to work, they are just very unprofessional in their customer service. read more
