I'll never know if Dr. Benmoshe is a good physician or not. He ordered an MRI and blood tests months ago however, I have never heard back as to what he found in those tests if anything. His office just called to cancel and reschedule my appointment less than one hour before my scheduled appointment. Once would be understandable however this is the THIRD consecutive time he has cancelled my appointment and wanted to reschedule. Unfortunately, "three strikes and you're out" with me. I went with my wife for her initial consultation to Dr. Benmoshe referred by her spinal specialist. Our first contact was with his Administrative Assistant Stephanie. She has been so kind, patient and accommodating in gathering extensive medical information, studies and records to prepare for my wife's visit. Upon arrival, she warmly introduced herself, and made us feel so comfortable. Stephanie is a credit to his office. What impressed us so much about Dr. Benmoshe was his excellent communication skills, as well as his style of reviewing all the information prior to the visit (what an original idea;). He also greeted both of us warmly, and carefully listened to my wife's complicated history. He then performed a thorough neurological exam and explained what would be involved in the two tests scheduled. As a fellow physician, I have seen the admirable doctor/patient rapport and relationship erode in so many medical specialities with the pressure and time constraints doctors are under to see as many patients as possible and the inability to really Listen to what the patient wants to share. His technique in the two tests were superb with very little discomfort. His gentle and caring manner put both of us at ease, and his thoroughness built confidence. Dr. Benmoshe listened to my detailed history of both seizure disorder and migraines and has suggested a new pathway to look at improving my quality of life. This path includes some additional testing and changes of medicines. I was quite impressed by his attention to the details that I provided. I am now hopeful that there may be a way to lessen my migrainal head issues and that I can either switch to a medicine for my epilepsy that will not have the same side effects (or go off the medication altogether). This was my first visit with the doctor. I also want to mention his assistant Lupe who was wonderful in helping me through a lot of paperwork and following up with me--and all during Covid19. I have since had a couple more appointments and continue to think very highly of Dr. Benmoshe. I went to him originally to talk about seizure disorder meds. Since he took a COMPLETE history, he addressed my migraine issues too. I got an injection of Ajovy and I am finding that I'm not experiencing my migrainal aura of pressure. I didn't even go in asking about this. Already my quality of life has increased. I don't need to take the rizatriptan for the aura, that would kind of knock me out the rest of the day. And he's addressing the anti-seizure meds too. He even suggested getting a blood pressure monitor for home use because my BP has been a little elevated when I see him. I've rarely seen a doctor, much less a neurologist, spend this amount of time on history and reaction to treatment. read more

I just had my first appointment with Dr. Danny Benmoshe. He spent a great deal of time with me and was extremely thorough. I have multiple issues and he took the time to explore all of them with me. I am very happy with the testing plan he came up with. I was also grateful that he allowed my husband of many years to accompany me into the exam room in this time of Covid restrictions to help me with my memory issues. My rheumatologist recommended Dr. Benmoshe. I have several autoimmune diseases and primary immune deficiency. I was on prednisone for 4 years for these auto diseases. After stopping the prednisone 3 years ago, my arm and leg pain, and instability became much worse. It became to the point I could barely walk upstairs without my legs giving out. I have seen other highly recommended doctors, but could never get a straight answer as to what exactly was happening to me. Except my rheumatologist, he believed it was all from my back. I've been battling chronic migraine for a few years now and was originally referred to a neurologist at UCLA who was dismissive of genuine concerns I had about symptoms. Each appointment was so anxiety ridden I'd often leave with a migraine - no good! After searching for neurologists with good reviews I came across Dr Benmoshe. I called into his office and was given an appointment the very next day thanks to a cancellation - incredible! I've waited months before to get into new doctors. The office staff is so accommodating and nice. They seem to really care for their patients...one of the other patients who came in at the same time even brought the front desk gals pastries. It didn't feel like the usual waiting room, everyone there seemed happy to be there. My first appointment with the Dr. was thorough and I felt like all my questions were answered. He reviewed my treatment to date and then put together a comprehensive treatment plan that tackled my health from several angles from vitamins, prescription, physical therapy, etc. Way more advice and recommendations than I'd ever gotten before! Prescription was already filled at my local pharmacy by the time I got there after my appointment. After reviewing the multiple reviews of Dr. Benmoshe, it becomes very clear that he is perceived as an exemplary physician. My recent experience with Dr. Benmoshe corroborates these reviews. I began experiencing movement complications a few months ago to the point that unfortunately what we all take for granted, simply the act of walking, has become an adventure for me. With each step, I am now uncertain where my legs may take me - walking where intended, unintentionally veering left or right, knees buckling or even falling. I was referred to this neurologist and warned that he was very young but someone to give it a shot. Well, this Dr. Is definitely too green and needs a lot more experience for me to recommend him. Dr. Benmoshe has been my neurologist for several years now. I was one of his first patients, and I like him enough that I've followed him as he's moved to a number of different offices and quite a distance away from me. He does seem settled at his current office in Santa Monica, which is well over an hour's drive for me, but worth it twice a year. Dr. Benmoshe books 30 minute appointments, so you don't feel rushed. He also has a rather holistic approach to medicine, suggesting meditation or particular vitamins/minerals for treating my migraines, as well as traditional medications. (To be clear, these more alternative approaches are in addition to prescription medication, not in lieu of. He doesn't "blow off" migraines by telling you to just go meditate and relax.) I have always had phone calls returned promptly and his office staff is pleasant. Dr. Benmoshe himself is a genuine treasure. I expect Dr. Benmoshe has potential to be one of the best neurologists in Los Angeles; however, several things prevent me from awarding a 5 star review at this time. A preface to my review: I can certainly draw upon my empathy as I think about the pressures of being a doctor and what I perceive as unique pressures for this office. Still, I think there are some practical steps within reach that would help Dr. Benmoshe and his patients meet their goals. UPDATED REVIEW AND MORE STARS AWARDED IF... If I leave my next appointment with the following two things I would update my review and award at least two more stars to Dr. Benmoshe's office. 1) an understanding of my test results, how they support Dr. Benmoshe's conclusions, and implications for my health; and 2) confidence that Dr. Benmoshe will apply some of my specific suggestions to reduce likelihood of others interpreting exams/appointments as insensitive like I did THE GOOD Dr. Benmoshe prescribed medication that reduced frequency and/or intensity of my symptoms since my intake. I am grateful for this outcome and hopeful that my condition will continue to improve. Dr. Benmoshe listened well to my feedback regarding (what I believe are unintentional) insensitive and triggering components of his exams/appointments, spent extra time to explain the MRI and EEG results on multiple occasions, and showed signs of genuine empathy when I explained my condition(s). Lupe, at the front desk, seems overworked at times, but she is professional, patient, and kind. THE COMPLICATED - SOME GOOD, SOME FRUSTRATING FOR ALL INVOLVED Dr. Benmoshe keeps telling me my test results are normal (which I was relieved to hear); however, there are elements of the MRI and EEG reports summarizing results that do not sound normal (e.g. cyst, seizures, ...). Additionally, the EEG report summarizes findings from a specific procedure I do not remember doing. This means I leave my appointments not feeling confident about the conclusions and not understanding the data that supports these conclusions. While trying to solve this problem, Dr. Benmoshe caught a transcription error in the MRI report that was confirmed by the radiology doctor on the phone during my appointment. The radiology doctor said she would produce a corrected report for pick up the next day. I'm glad he decided to call the radiology doctor during my appointment since this helped to clear up one aspect of the confusion. However, after picking up the new report, I still don't understand the results and how they support the conclusion that all is normal. Though Dr. Benmoshe directed me to the radiology clinic to get an explanation, the radiology clinic said that the doctor ordering the reports (Dr. Benmoshe) is responsible to explain them to their patients. I expect Dr. Benmoshe is frustrated since he spent extra time trying to explain test results, some of which were not in alignment with his own interpretations of the data. Still, I am also frustrated by 1) the amount of time I have spent (away from my work) at the doctor's office in pursuit of understanding these test results, and 2) lack of clarity about who has the expertise to explain these results to me. Dr. Benmoshe seems really competent, and I expect he could easily talk with the radiology clinic and other specialists to ensure the report summarizes the results properly (more easily than I could, no doubt, given his expertise and training), and explain them to me in language I can understand. As this gets straightened out, I will return and update my review. Additionally, while Dr. Benmoshe listened to my feedback about insensitive components of the exam/appointments, I do not have confidence that my feedback will make a difference. At first, I thought that he did not seem motivated to make any changes to the way he conducts these appointments for all patients. Upon further reflection, I think it's unlikely to be a motivation issue, and I expect that I did not explain what needs to be done thoroughly enough after communicating my feedback. If upon receiving this explanation, Dr. Benmoshe implements some of my suggestions, I will update this review. And finally, going to this doctor means you will pay much for parking, which is not validated, and you will need to take time off work (always). I understand the need to have some "off" hours to get paperwork done without patient interruptions; however, the last appointment available is now at 3/3:30 pm or so if I remember correctly, which makes it difficult for working people, who likely already take more time off than they'd like due to illness, and who must take additional time off for appointments. It would be helpful to have some regular evening or weekend hours (even if once a month or every two weeks). read more

Dr. Benmoshe over looked and misdiagnosed a very serious medical condition that he was well aware of!!!! I saw him back in 2015 when I was just 20 years old; looking for an answer as to why I was suffering from debilitating nerve pain, muscle spasms, weakness, migraines and more, every single day for a year since I had two botched lumbar puncture procedures. I gave him all my records like my MRI, hospital records, previous doctor notes and physical therepy records. When he reviewed my MRI, he said he saw nothing wrong, but that he also wanted to run a nerve conduction study. I also want to point out that before he did the nerve test, I watched him put on gloves, rub his nose and then step out of the room for a moment and came back. When he came backed I watched him touch the door handle before sitting down about to start the test. I told him "shouldn't you change your gloves after touching the door handle?" And only then did he change his gloves, but I bet had I not said anything, he would of probably continued to touch me and the nerve needle with those contaminated gloves... After the test, I had to come back again for a follow up appointment to get my results. In the meantime, I was doing my own research on my symptoms, trying to find an answer as to why my pain hasn't gone away and why I'm so weak, because at 20 years old, this wasn't normal for someone who was born healthy to be in the state that I was in. Out of nowhere, I came across something called, "Adhesive Arachnoiditis." Which is an inflammatory nerve disease that can be caused by LUMBAR PUNCTURES!!!!!! I had never heard of such a thing, nor did I know how to pronounce the word when I first discovered it. Almost every single symptom that was described online, I had it, but of course I wasn't too sure because I'm not a doctor. Although this condition sounded pretty exact to my situation from how it's caused to the symptoms that are felt; I couldn't wait until my next appointment to finally tell him that I think I know what's wrong with me. When my next appointment came, I had printed out pages on Adhesive Arachnoiditis and before I said anything, I told him to read my symptoms that I told him I had, and then look at the pages I printed out. (side note: I even highlighted everything that was related to me in the printed pages I brought with me) After he read my symptoms from his records, I handed him the printed pages, only to my surprise he had a "... yeah, right..." jokingly smirk on his face. He tried to brush it off, but I kept asking more questions. He finally told my results of my nerve conduction study and said it came back normal, and that there was nothing he saw wrong; which was surprising since I was still suffering with extreme weakness and pain, and he said there wasn't much else he could do. I even asked him if he had any other patience with this before, and he said yeah, he saw maybe one other awhile ago. I asked if they got it from an epidural and he goes "yeah, I think so. Is that how they get it?" As if I was suppose to know from my research, and questioning just how much I really know how this disease (even though yes, you can get Adhesive Arachnoiditis from epidurals as well) Before I left, Dr. Benmoshe said that he thought I was looking "too deep into this" and shouldn't stress myself out because not everything online is true. I set up another following appointment only because I didn't know what else to do and thought maybe he could do something in a few months and see if things changes.... I almost believed him that I should drop this discovery and had lost all hope, until 3 days later.... As a last resort, I found another doctor to review my case. This doctor was Dr. Forrest Tennant. I found him through another Adhesive Arachnoiditis suffer-er who told me that I should contact him because he was like the "god father" of this disease and has done a lot of research on it for years. Surely, this doctor would know if I had it or not, and if he said no, then I'd drop it completely from there. Long story short; sure enough, Dr. Tennant was able to officially diagnose me with Adhesive Arachnoiditis and was able to confirm it through the same MRI Dr. BenMoshe saw prior and through a blood test that showed extremely high C-receptive proteins and high cortisol levels(meaning my body still had a lot of inflammation, aka I was in some extraordinary PAIN!), as well as a physical evaluation of my movements/motor skills. Anyways; although Dr. Benmoshe wasn't the first doctor to review my case, he was the first one to be aware of Adhesive Arachnoiditis and brush it off like it was a joke. 3 years later, I just had my 23rd birthday and I am still suffering with the same symptoms I went into Dr. Benmoshe's office, but The only difference is I am able to live with Adhesive Arachnoiditis more stable and cwith a lot of help from Dr. Tennant's protocol. read more
