Initially, we had only wanted to replace the top layer of decking with mangaris. However, in the course of tearing up that top layer so that another contractor could repair a storm drain running beneath the deck, we discovered that the deck was not properly draining and the existing substructure was rotten. Danny revised his quote quickly and was very accommodating regarding the schedule, since we needed to have the drainage contractor repair both the storm drain and the deck drain before a new deck could go in. Once the drainage contractor's work was completed, Danny's crew was back and on the job, quickly completing the deck as well as the additional repair and waterproofing work on the storage shed, fencing around the property, the outdoor pergola, and the trash area. In the end, we were very happy with how Danny and Hannah communicated with us regarding important changes as well as the quality of the work. Danny's crew built a beautiful, large, multi-story deck in our backyard. This was a complex project due to permitting restrictions for our area (we live in a very high fire hazard severity zone). Danny is an excellent communicator. Danny has threatened to sue me. And Danny is now making all sorts of excuses as to why he disappeared on us. I wrote honest reviews here and on Angie's list (you can see our entire email thread there) and he called, left a message and threatened to sue me. Every word is the truth. Bottom line is, he flaked on us. I asked him point blank in an email if he wanted to do our deck and he replied saying he would love to build our deck. Replying to his comment below -- I was crystal clear on the day we met that there was an easement issue with the corner of our deck. So his threats and excuses are really now showing his lack of integrity. The purpose of these review sites are to weed out sketchy businesses and give props to those who do a good job. We did not have a good experience with Danny. We are not lying, we are not trying to get away with building an unpermitted deck. The city is completely aware of our deck and the property line. As I told him the day we met, we made an agreement with the city to remedy the deck and to remove that crappy little room BEFORE we even bought the house. It's all in writing at the city. So trying to make us seem like we're trying to get away with an illegal deck and he refused to be a part of it, is now just... sad. We gave Danny so much patience. I even emailed him about another property that needed a small repair with dry rot. He never replied to those emails either. I have emails and cell records of everything, including referencing the easement and the corner of the deck. So his now suggesting he knew nothing about it and he did "research" on it and discovered it on his own is really pitiful. Had he actually done research on our deck he would have discovered that in 2002 there was an easement in place for a bit of the corner of our deck to cross the property line. It was originally build this way and it is documented with the city. I, honestly, really liked Danny when we met. But do you like your time being wasted? Cause I sure don't. Wasted time with Danny coming to our house, showing him around, deciding on Danny... Then we waited for Danny to start the job. Lots of emails back and forth. But we waited. And waited. Danny never once said he didn't want to fix our deck. Not once. Quite the opposite - he said he would love to. Oh, and the survey guy he references wouldn't come to our house because it was too far for him. This is also in an email to Danny. And the engineer he refers to in the comment below Danny says -- in the same voicemail where he threatens to sue me -- that he fired the guy for being unreliable. He doesn't use him anymore. It's on my voicemail. Danny is all over the place with his excuses. Homeowner be warned. read more

We had our roof deck remodeled and Danny Deck forgot to install flashing, which caused extensive damage to our window sills and walls below during the rains. We called immediately and they said they would come out to take a look after the rains. Meanwhile we had to tarp the entire deck ourselves because it kept raining. When they came out, they ripped up what they had done and added the missing flashing at their cost for their mistake. They would not reimburse us for the damage to our walls and window sills nor the 2 weeks of added delay when the issue was caused by their faulty workmanship. I don't think I've ever written a bad review until now but sadly this time it deserves it and I will never use this company again. read more

Two years ago we had a deck installed in an awkward space between our sliding glass door to our master bedroom and our back exit off the kitchen. Danny Deck came on time, as scheduled and provided a detailed estimate and a plan. His team showed up the next week as scheduled and spent about 4 days building the deck from scratch over the existing concrete. I have never seen such attention to detail and such careful measurements. It was an awkward space with lots of angles and cuts, but ultimately we wanted it to just make one seamless platform that united the whole space behind our house and between our house and garage. They did amazing work, stuck to the estimate they proposed, and cleaned up their mess entirely. The crew was respectful of our property and produced a really beautiful redwood deck in a matter of a few days. We've restained it a few times (our dogs do a number on the finish), but the deck has held up nicely and has added a lot of value to our home and usable outdoor living space for my family. We tried to get quotes from Lowe's and a few other contractors and they wouldn't even provide an estimate because they said it looked like it would be too hard with all the angles and cuts and not worth the money.
