    a roast beef sandwich
    Joey M.

We went into Danny's for lunch this week and found it to be a capable, quick-service lunch spot. The place was busy but the staff did a good job managing our group. The menu is bigger than I thought it would be. I ordered the New Yorker, consisting of corned beef, Swiss cheese, and slaw on rye. The sandwich itself tasted good, but the meat was a bit drier than I expected. The potato wedges as a side were solid as well. The pricing is fair, but with a side (not included) and a drink it got up near $20. I'd recommend going here if you need a quick lunch in Columbus!

New owners have done a number on this place. Used to be a huge fan but whatever this is...it ain't it. This was my $15 corned beef that was served to me cold and lacking any color. Looked like thick cut Arby's meat or something. Sadly they increased the price and give us less product and even worse quality. Make the drive to Cleveland if you want the real deal.

A Columbus landmark spot for an amazing lunch. Great prices, super clean, delicious food options always prepared fresh and made to order, and exceptional service. A must stop if you are downtown.

I had been meaning to try this place for a while after a friend told me how good it was. Months later, I decided to come for lunch. I heard that it's busy around noon, so my friend and I stopped by around 11:40 on a Friday. There were already tons of people eating in here and a few others waiting for food. We didn't wait long in line as there was only one person in front of us. I had to get me the Reuben! They've got three sizes: baby, regular, or jaw breaker. I got the baby Reuben which was the perfect size! At $10.50, it was a pretty good price. We waited maybe 5-7 minutes before we got our food. Yum! It's tasty! The meat was fresh and they place the 1000 island dressing on the side so you can slather it on there yourself. I was full! A guy told me he's gotten the jaw breaker before and had to share it. Good to know! My friend got onion rings which were huge and thick! A little over $3 didn't seem like a bad deal to me. The place is interesting. It looks like a diner. Black and white tiles, red cushions on the seats. There are plenty of tables to eat at if you decide to dine in. They've got some patio seating as well! Not sure when I will return but this is one of my favorite spots downtown now!

Danny's deli is sort of hidden in the basement of a typical downtown office building (though they do have a separate below grade entry way) off Broad. In a nutshell, good food, decent prices, above average portions, brusque service, subterranean setting equals a good place to grab lunch/snack to take to nearby park or back to workplace. One sandwich ($11-14) was too much food for one but ok for 2 to share. The meats tasted great with just the right amount of moisture. The setting felt like a 50's school cafeteria with lots of signs about what "not to do" (don't lean on this, set items on that, etc.). Enjoy the Capitol nearby or the riverfront park instead.

I love, love, love Reuben. If I see Reuben sandwich on the menu, I will always order it. I read great review of this restaurant. This restaurant is a bit weird because if you enter from one side of the street, you enter into an office building. You will have to take an elevator to P1, walk through a door and turn right. There is no signage from that side of the street. It feels like walking into a jail in a basement. But if you enter from the other side of the street which is right next to the garage exit, you could walk into the restaurant right away. It is not a big restaurant. You could order carryout or dine in. The dining area has a 50's dining feel. We ordered a regular size (medium) Reuben sandwich with corned beef and pastrami for carryout. It came with a small pickle in a bag. The bread was pan fried nicely on both side with a crunch. It came with good portion of meat. I can't complain about the meat ratio. I wish it came with twice the amount of sauerkraut. Warning: this is a messy and greasy sandwich. Eat with caution :) However the people who work there are not the friendly bunch. I would never dine in as I don't expect great service for sure. I would not mind just order takeout.

Amazing sandwich I had the Ruben with pastrami and corn beef oh my it was so so good. My hubby tried The pastrami sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes and provolone cheese. We will definitely be back when it's our cheat eat meat day. Then we topped it off with the cookie brownie yummy also . Anna was a great waitress !

    french fries and coleslaw

What kind of public middle school food is this! I am highly disappointed. I got the chicken sandwich with coleslaw and fries. For one the chicken was 3 chicken strips and some nasty soggy bread. The fries was even worst cause it wasn't crispy. I am highly disappointed at the lack of effort they put into this food. At least make it look like you tried. Times are hard but food don't have to be this hard !!! This is the last time I order from here. There should be a zero star given, sad absolutely sad ! However, Thank you for your services.

Additionally, having had a Goodman's Deli mile high corned beef sandwich when I lived in Cleveland, I had even higher expectations. Their most popular sandwich is the Reuben so I went with that. Katzingers did not meet them. When I arrived to pick up my sandwich I was shocked the line wasn't out the door to place orders before they closed and the dining room had maybe 6 people in it. There were about 6 to go bags on the shelf along with mine. When I mentioned to the cashier that I was surprised it wasn't busier, she said it'll be busier tomorrow. I said the day after St Pat's? No answer. Another not good sign in my mind. When I got home, the wrapped sandwich was bigger than my hand but not very tall. The paper had areas of grease which is a good sign for this sandwich. The corned beef itself was tender but there wasn't as much of it, maybe an inch high and 1/3 of the bread had no corned beef. I also could not taste the thousand island dressing. The rye bread was toasted but pretty soggy. The crust was mostly crunchy. The bread slices were paired upside down putting a narrower side a larger side against each other. There is not enough sauerkraut and it is not very sour. I was given the choice of a dill or garlic pickle but I cannot tell you how it was because they didn't put it in the bag. I expected this sandwich to have so much meat in it, I could eat for multiple days for $18. Again, disappointed. Maybe I should've gotten the deli sized version but paying that much for a sandwich... The inside of the deli is fun and it's obvious it's been around a long time and has been well loved. I wanted to like Katzinger's but since the price and the quality don't match, I cannot.

We really wanted Frenchi's, so we drove up to this OG location. No line which is great! A nice woman was working the counter. We got our sammies and brought them home. They were as solid as always, but there's some things I have to note: Frenchi himself always made our sandwiches to perfection. Toasted, hot, perfectly made. The two times we had another employee make them, they are just different. Same ingredients, but different ratios maybe? Today my husbands Eiffel came super toasty and meats/cheese heated up in a microwave (or toaster oven maybe?) My Buckeye always used to come warm, but only if Frenchi made it. Twice now, I got barely toasted and my meat wasn't warmed at all. Also, man I loveeee the house made chipotle mayo but today was just way too much sauce. Yes, I should have spoken up about what I specifically wanted, but part of my reviews need to include things like consistency. Today was fine, but not the 5 star I've come to expect. One star off for the other location being closed and not posted anywhere. One star off for inconsistent sandwiches.

It was my turn, dining alone but nothing about a table for one at Scotty's is lonely. The staff are immediately welcoming and every customer is every employee's charge. Four different people helped me or just checked in. The Gina breakfast combos have lots to offer for breakfast. But I was thrilled this 9:30 am to be assured the whole menu was available. I was looking for something less common and was excited to see potato latkes with sour cream and apple sauce as an option. That would have been great but then the waitress (Salome maybe) said, "Do you like corned beef?" The Schmoozer is 3 enormous latkes with thinly shaved and lightly grilled corn beef on top with an over easy egg atop that.
