The menu is much more a fast food hamburger joint while the the aesthetic is more of a diner. We ordered at the counter but you also have the option of sitting at a bar and there seem to be a active community. The burger was good if not overly flavorful and the prices were Fair. I have been coming to Dan's since the 70s when I went to UT. I moved to Louisiana a few years back and do not come very often. I have always thought about this place as the best Hamburger ever. We came back yesterday and they do not have a large burger. The medium was just ok. I can get this burger anywhere. I don't know if the pandemic has caused the change in size and taste but we probably will not be back. I am soooooo disappointed. read more

I had not been to Dan's in a few years but was wanting a burger and fries. In that time several new really good burger joints have opened (Mighty Fine & Five Guys ) to name a few. I ordered a medium size cheese burger, fries and an iced tea. What I got was a salty burger that's frozen patty was a thin as Whataburgers's is. How does this place remain open? I noticed that the clientele was almost all seniors, kind of strange. Is this their business model? Fries were luke warm and they were out of tea when I went back for are refill. This is by far my favorite burger place. The burger is made fresh on a nice and buttery bun. My favorite is the double burger with cheese and a small curly fry. This place have never disappointed me and I have never had a bad experience the staff is friendly. I cant wait to stop by and get another! read more

Had breakfast this past Saturday morning. I ordered the migas, and they were delicious. The beans tasted homemade for sure, but the potatoes, eh. lost a star for those. They were jam packed which I was surprised to see since it was rainy and cold and if we didn't have to be in Buda that morning for work (my fiancée did anyway) I would have been at home in my bed studying. The fiancée ordered the supreme omlet, which he enjoyed but said he enjoyed the migas better. He also got gravy to pour on his biscuits (yuck, buy that's just not my thing,just not a gravy gal unless its thanksgiving and its brown, not white gravy). The coffee was good, the lines were long but moved relatively fast considering how many were actually waiting to be seated. I'd love to come back and try this place's actual hamburgers. read more

One of the best burgers I've had in a long time!! I ordered a medium single meat jalapeño bacon cheeseburger with an order of curly fries and onion rings. The onion rings were huge and I enjoyed them even more since the batter wasn't to thick, it was just perfect. read more

We never choose Dan's and the one time we do, it is just trash. We live in Buda so the drive isn't far. By the time we got home Our burgers were so soggy and soaked that even the paper fell apart. Only come here for the yummy refried beans. I have problems with eating tough hard meals and i can eat their beans for lunch/dinner. They taste better if i sit down and eat instead of taking Togo, what i say is "can i please get a quart of refried beans only please on a plate" and they are always so kind about it. I ask for onions on the side for extra flavor. When i was a teenager i loved to play with my stuffed animals and play cooking with my mother. This place reminds me of home. I heard kids screaming kiddos when i was there and no one said anything. It disturbed my refried bean night. Oh well. I would love a dans tshirt and if you or anyone has one for sale let me know. I'm a big fan. Me family loves this place have been coming for years and years. I'm hosting a holiday special singing party with my fellow elderly buda support group. I'm going here afterwards. We've been coming to Buda for my hubby's work class for the last few months and each visit we have to come to Dan's! As soon as you walk in, you place your order at the counter and pay in advance then you can either take a seat or wait to take your food to go. I love the diner feel of this restaurant with the old school booths and tables. Their burgers are made to order and very juicy!! Fries come separate from the burgers so don't forget to order some either regular or curly. I loved both but especially the curly fries! They do have ore than just hamburgers. They are also open for breakfast and we kept saying we were going to come but our hotel had a good continental breakfast. We will make it for breakfast some time though. I have also tried their BLT with a side salad which is very good and the bacon is perfectly crispy and bread toasted. We look forward to returning in the future! read more

Food was pretty good, the cheeseburgers are awesome. My only complaint is, my bun was so greasy it fell apart before I ever took my first bite. The onion rings were bomb, crunchy cornmeal breading, stayed crunchy the till the last one. Curly fries were good, but nothing special. Retro Diner , Good Burgers and Homemade Onion Rings. Burgers come in 3 sizes, small 4oz, Med 6oz, and Large 8 oz for single Patties and you can double up on any of the three. Burger was flavorful and well prepared, bun was toasted perfectly and my small order of onion rings paired perfectly and was plenty for 1 person. I had been to the location in Austin and liked it, but this location was so disappointing!!!!! The fries were so cold that they must've been sitting for hours. This is our favorite burger joint in buda. We come here for the burgers and fries. I like the sweet potato and my husband likes the regular or onion rings. This is not your typical fast food place. They are often very slow at the drive thru. I think it's because they cook to order. So just know that when you're ordering or else you might be upset. If you have a sweet tooth try their brownies! I usually just get water cause I'm sure it's a high calorie meal as is. But you don't come here for health. Lol. It's more convenience and comfort food! read more

I was excited to try the famous Dan's. I passed on the other drive thrus when I saw the lines but decided I would sit through the lines for Dan's. Several cars in front of me ditched so the line moves fairly quickly. The cheeseburger was good. I saw comments about getting bun extra toasted. I would agree. The bun was soggy. My biggest complaint is that it had onions. They asked about onions and I said none. They repeated this to me and even when I got to window said no onion. When I got on the road I found I had an onion filled cheeseburger. I guess I should be glad I'm not allergic. No worries, I will wash it down w my sweet tea. Oh wait, they messed that up too. Not the best first impression. I will try again but definitely not this location. read more

I love Dan's! Usually I hit up one of their many Austin locations, but I just happened to be in Buda and saw a familiar restaurant. The food was still deli, and I am never disappointed by it. This restaurant was not necessarily the cleanest I've been too. They were packed though. The seating arrangements inside were a little hard to get too without bumping into the people around you. The wait was also a little long. I will say, they did have plenty of parking which us a plus. They were also very friendly. All in all not a horrible experience. What we got: BBQ burgers with onion rings and curly fries. The burgers and curly fries were really fantastic. This is more your "basic" diner burger, but that's my favorite kind. I did not like the onion rings. That's honestly the only reason it isn't 5 stars because I didn't even eat them all. And I really like onion rings! The service was great. There was some mix up between me and the very-new guy at the counter and the manager came out to make sure he had it right. Thanks man. It's always nice to get good service from a place you are spending less than $10. I can appreciate that. Dan's is pretty iconic Austin and I think it deserves it's place in our history!
