Dan's Pharmacy is a complete community Pharmacy. The owners care and are there to go over and above to help with needs. They will take time to talk and educate, and their shelves are always full and never do they let things run down. They are essential to the health of Nantucket. We are so fortunate to have this island owned Pharmacy. It is a "one of a kind" in a country that is being taken over by corporate business. I just went to Dans Pharmacy and was getting a RX filled. There were three ladies behind counter filling prescriptions. This rude man was in the back throwing numerous F bombs (F*ck) at the ladies and were unkindly, rude and very disrespectful. This was the owner Dan . As he went in his office, I said out loud WOW.. He came charging to the counter asking me what my problem was. I told him I was a god fearing man felt his language was offensive and very disrespectful to the employees. He said, then I will ring you up and you can leave. I said thats great but I still needed my RX. He again rudely told them to fill my meds first so I could get out of hist store. Ive never seen this in my life and was very upset that his loud vulgarities were not a problem to him. I was most disturbed that the employees had to sit there and take all that. Dan is a very disturbed and rotten person. So sad. read more

The staff at this pharmacy are bullies on a power trip. I overheard the pharmacist verbally abusing a customer on the phone with words no one should ever hear. I needed some questions answered and was 'served' by an equally disgruntled man at the consult counter. I ended up leaving without answers or medication and went to pharmacy on Main St. What a difference!! If it was possible I would rate Dans with a minus number. We have used Dans for over 5 years and have the same insurance. I was advised that they didn't accept this insurance. Told them they had just filled another script last week. After an unsatisfactory conversation with the young man at the counter asked to speak with the pharmacist. Was then told there was a problem with their system and it would be corrected shortly. I went back several times and the issue supposedly was still not resolved. I transferred my scripts to the Nantucket Pharmacy and have been extremely satisfied. Nantucket Pharmacy gets a 10. read more

Dan the pharmacist and owner doesn't even deserve 1 star. His unprofessionalism is unfathomable. My family and I have been customers for 15 years. The moment I requested a prescription he yelled out with frustration to stay put because they were closing in 10minuets at 6pm. How is it our fault that we happened to get the only available and last appointment at the hospital at 440pm and the doctor had called in the script for us just before closing? His hollering did not end there. Since when is lashing out at a customer for his staff members mistake acceptable? The check out women gave me a different customers prescription which my daughter is severely allergic to. Dan lashed out "YOU NEED TO OPEN YOUR EARS BETTER." when in fact the woman never said a name or birthday to my face for confirmation. She looked at me through the window and called me over to her from across the room. Dan has lost loyal customers and gained a bad review. I would highly recommended using a different pharmacy if you are on Nantucket. read more

Echoing the recent reviews on here to say DO NOT get your prescription filled here. It is an absolute disaster on all ends. First off, their phone line does not work and hangs up on you if you try to call before to make sure your prescription is ready. However, my medication was apparently out of stock, and it took over an hour to even be told of this information at the pharmacy. The first woman I talked to was so incredibly rude and didn't even bother to look up my prescription. Then I had to wait to go to the drop off line where I was told they were out of my medication. When I asked why I wasn't notified considering they had my contact information, the woman tried to make a million excuses as to why they couldn't notify me. As someone who takes a medication that heavily impacts their day-to-day functioning, this experience caused me extreme anxiety and frustration. However, I called Nantucket Pharmacy on Main St and they were more than happy to fill my prescription and they made sure to triple check they had it in stock. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE! I was in Dan's Pharmacy today. Not the first time I've shopped here. Usually it's a good experience, but today this woman decided to say to my friend and I... "Make sure you pay for everything before you leave, I've been watching you and we have security cameras." My response was I do asset protection, I do not steal. Mind you I do security for one of the biggest companies on this island and for me to feel embarrassed by this woman is a disgrace! I'm 26 years old and I feel like I was being spoken to like I was a teenager. And on top of it my friend and I spent over $50 in the store! Never again!!!!!! read more

"Dan", the owner and head pharmacist, was very rude to me when I was asking the staff about why my generic antibiotic was so expensive -he basically told me to "go elsewhere if I didn't like the prices" and he did not look me in the eye and just walked away. Minutes later, he announced behind the counter that he was going on his lunch break while I was waiting to speak to a pharmacist. The staff were embarrassed and apologized for him saying, "He is always like that". Needless to say, I won't be going there again. read more

I'm on the island for a week recuperating from neck cancer treatment. You always worry that you will run out of meds. Such is the case today, I was running really low and walked over to Dan's with my bottle in hand. I have really hard time talking, and the women in the pharmacy area took extra effort to make sure that I didn't have to talk to much to be able to get a refill. read more
