    Hot Dan's pierogi.
 !

As a lifelong Pole and member of the Northwest Indiana Polish diaspora, I highly recommend Dans' pierogi. I recently picked up a few dozen spinach, mushroom, potato cheddar, meat, and cherry to share with friends in DC. We had a tough time picking a favorite, they were all great. I'll definitely be ordering some more next time I pass through.

The food was amazing, especially the pierogi and the cheese blintzes! The woman at the counter couldn't have possibly been any sweeter. She was so kind. The dining area is small, but it has a really cute mom and pop shop vibe.

Their menu I love the variety and possibilities to mix!

As a Polish (born & raised in Poland) I had to try Dan's Pierogi today. I've heard of this place a lot and honestly I was very skeptical. I think it's very difficult to make a really good pierogi. So... I gave it a try... and i was positively surprised how delicious their pierogi are! 1. Thin dough! Very important! 2. Lots of filling! Very important! 3. Spiced just right! (I tried; potato-cheddar, meat, sauerkraut, spinach, and loaded potatoes). I absolutely will be back and will send there my Polish and American friends! Ps. Service was also very nice

Delicious pierogies! We ate in and tried every savory flavor. I loved the cabbage and meat flavors.

We started off with the complimentary appetizer, which was bread served with what I think was a meat and potato stuffing--I'm not exactly sure what it was, but it was amazing. We also ordered the potato pancakes, but unfortunately, we weren't big fans of them. They just weren't crispy enough, so the texture of the potato wasn't great. Luckily, the rest of the meal completely made up for it! For our mains, we got the chicken Alfredo (okay, but wouldn't get again!), the beef stroganoff, and the Polish plate. The stuffed cabbage on the Polish plate was absolutely insane, a total highlight of the night. I would 10/10 recommend getting that plate! The only slight critique for the mains is that I wish the beef in the stroganoff had been just a little bit more tender. The dumplings on this plate were just okay. We also ordered two different types of pierogies, both meat and potato, and both were delicious. The beet side dish was also delicious. Outside of those minor details, everything was so incredibly delicious. I would definitely come back here again!

We made a reservation as we were a group of 5 and it was not an issue, but it could be on a weekend. There was only one server, but she was on top of her game. The restaurant is European, so it's not designed to be the American rush to eat. We started with potato pierogi to share. They were so amazing! My entree was stuffed chick with dumplings and a lovely cucumber salad. Very good, decent portion. The only detractor could be the restroom which is down a flight of stairs, and could be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues. Def worth checking out.

Sour Rye Soup: Not bad, but honestly, I wouldn't order it again... the fermented sourness was just too direct and intense. Polish Hunters Stew: Apparently a national dish of Poland. The first bite tasted like Italian meat sauce, with a rich tomato flavor and a slight smoky aroma; then I discovered the ingredients included sausage, cured beef brisket, minced meat, and sauerkraut, making it quite substantial and much more satisfying than Italian meat sauce. Overall, it was a rich, sweet and sour flavor, perfect with rice, pasta, or bread. Sauerkraut & Mushroom Pierogi: Dumplings, but the Polish version. The sauerkraut was only slightly sour, refreshing and delicious with the mushrooms, while the sour cream added a touch of creaminess and richness. Unfortunately, the skin was thick and sticky, as if it had been boiled for a long time. For better dumplings skin, please turn to a Northeastern Chinese. Half Duck: Strangely, it reminded me of confit de canard. The meat was incredibly tender, falling off the bone with a gentle pull; the melt-in-your-mouth texture was truly delightful. The cranberry sauce was perfectly balanced between sweet and sour, with a rich fruity and fermented aroma. The rosemary emerged in the aftertaste, enriching the flavors and cutting through the richness. The accompanying sauerkraut was even better than the duck, with a crunchy texture and a mild, pleasant sourness, enveloped in a rich buttery and creamy flavor. The accompanying fpotatoes were also soft and delicious, but the roasted pear was too overpowering in its softness and sweetness, not meeting my expectations for a palate cleanser. Table Bread: The bread itself was unremarkable, but the generous amount of butter was commendable. I cannot believe that there is only one server for all the tables.

Tradycja is a fine, upscale dining experience: really awesome decor with lots of hand crafted touches, a menu filled with great choices. I started with the sauerkraut pierogi as an appetizer: light and simple but amazing with bits of bacon and a small dish of sour cream. My main was called a breaded pork chop but I'd call it more of a schnitzel topped with mushrooms and a sheep's milk cheese. For sides I added sauerkraut and potato pancakes. While the pork and sauerkraut were both great I cannot emphasize enough: these are the best potato pancakes on the planet. No applesauce or sour cream needed. Service is also very friendly and accommodating, our server was charming and helpful. I should add that everything was cooked to order so it's not quick but unlike lots of other restaurants, you can tell that Tradycja doesn't use shortcuts or cheap filler ingredients: everything is like you would make it at home. My wife has a sensitive stomach and ends up feeling like she's had way too much salt and grease when we eat out and she felt great after our dinner there. Please go there often: this place is a treasure.
