    Hot Dan's pierogi.
 !

As a lifelong Pole and member of the Northwest Indiana Polish diaspora, I highly recommend Dans' pierogi. I recently picked up a few dozen spinach, mushroom, potato cheddar, meat, and cherry to share with friends in DC. We had a tough time picking a favorite, they were all great. I'll definitely be ordering some more next time I pass through.

The food was amazing, especially the pierogi and the cheese blintzes! The woman at the counter couldn't have possibly been any sweeter. She was so kind. The dining area is small, but it has a really cute mom and pop shop vibe.

Their menu I love the variety and possibilities to mix!

As a Polish (born & raised in Poland) I had to try Dan's Pierogi today. I've heard of this place a lot and honestly I was very skeptical. I think it's very difficult to make a really good pierogi. So... I gave it a try... and i was positively surprised how delicious their pierogi are! 1. Thin dough! Very important! 2. Lots of filling! Very important! 3. Spiced just right! (I tried; potato-cheddar, meat, sauerkraut, spinach, and loaded potatoes). I absolutely will be back and will send there my Polish and American friends! Ps. Service was also very nice

Tried all 10savory and all4 sweet flavor of perigogies. The savory were my favorite, everyone of them was tasty and great flavor combinations I would not have considered before. Service was friendly and Dodd was prepared promptly. Really enjoyed this regional food.

I could not stop eating them for about a good two weeks I will go and place an to go order to the point I thought I was gonna turn into a pierogi. Happy and Excited close to home to obtain such a dish that simple yet elegant to the tastebuds. I truly received a special treat and to know that I can obtain this from somewhere to our home. The quality and care exceeded my expectations as I would usually venture downtown for this rare treat. Definitely a place to stop in have a beer or a glass of wine, take some friends or just treat yourself. Bonus I found out they're serving breakfast another review to come once I stop back in the morning. I give Golden Seal of Approval. I I'll add photos next time as I ate the them all!

We started off with the complimentary appetizer, which was bread served with what I think was a meat and potato stuffing--I'm not exactly sure what it was, but it was amazing. We also ordered the potato pancakes, but unfortunately, we weren't big fans of them. They just weren't crispy enough, so the texture of the potato wasn't great. Luckily, the rest of the meal completely made up for it! For our mains, we got the chicken Alfredo (okay, but wouldn't get again!), the beef stroganoff, and the Polish plate. The stuffed cabbage on the Polish plate was absolutely insane, a total highlight of the night. I would 10/10 recommend getting that plate! The only slight critique for the mains is that I wish the beef in the stroganoff had been just a little bit more tender. The dumplings on this plate were just okay. We also ordered two different types of pierogies, both meat and potato, and both were delicious. The beet side dish was also delicious. Outside of those minor details, everything was so incredibly delicious. I would definitely come back here again!

We made a reservation as we were a group of 5 and it was not an issue, but it could be on a weekend. There was only one server, but she was on top of her game. The restaurant is European, so it's not designed to be the American rush to eat. We started with potato pierogi to share. They were so amazing! My entree was stuffed chick with dumplings and a lovely cucumber salad. Very good, decent portion. The only detractor could be the restroom which is down a flight of stairs, and could be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues. Def worth checking out.

We started with two soups. The sour rye soup was tangy and savory, with small pieces of kielbasa,…read moretwo egg halves, and a sprig of dill on top. The red beet soup had a clear red broth with no pieces inside, and was accompanied by a meat croquette. This was my first time having a Polish croquette, and I would say that it tasted more like an egg roll than a Japanese croquette: less greasy, with a significant quantity of minced filling. Then came the main attraction: the special for two, a sampler of Poland's biggest hits. The potato pancakes and breaded chicken were golden brown and had a slightly crisp crust. The pierogies were shaped quite like some Chinese dumplings I've had, but the filling was unmistakably Polish. The stuffed cabbage had a generous amount of meat and came in a hearty tomato broth. The kielbasa had very good taste and texture. The bacon-wrapped plum was something I had never heard of before, but it was quite tasty.

Food was fabulous, and couldn't have asked for a better tasting meal. Only drawback was when we put the aluminum trays in our chaffing servers and put water in them, we found that they had holes in each of them and leaked all over our counter. Thankfully, we had the large replacement aluminum "pans" and a small crisis was averted. Other than that, we have absolutely no complaints about getting future food orders from the Skillet. P.S. A few extra rolls with the carry out order would have been nice.
