We have tried multiple places but due to either driving distance or the atmosphere of the office I was unhappy. Yesterday my children had their consultation visits, x rays and cleaning at Dr. Shinebarger's office. From the minute we walked in I felt comfortable. The staff was amazing, we were greeted by Erica at the front desk. Then we saw Lindsey for X-rays and the consultation. After that we got to meet Dr. Shinebarger who sat down and talked with us for a lot longer than most dentists who fly in, look in your kids mouth and walk out then charge you $70. This dentist was like no other! He talked to the kids, did a very thorough exam and made them both feel comfortable. When my ten year old smiles and says I really like this place -while at a dentist office?! Then you know it's right. Both of my children had cleanings done by Heather who did an amazing job. I was impressed by all the staff and I felt so relieved when we left because I found an office close to home with a friendly staff that I can trust which is not an easy thing to find these days. I'm terrified of dentists so I can't be sure what the rest of the conversation was, but that comment was a concern for me (thinking "why did he say that?) The staff is very nice. I had an appointment just before 4pm. I did not have to wait. They took x rays, and these were x rays I have never seen before. They took the regular ones (the black and white ones) but then they took some that were actually color photos of my teeth. The dentist showed me these on a large tv screen (which was on the wall in front of the dental chair). He showed me the areas of concern; why they concerned him and what should be done to correct the problem. When I was done the receptionist gave me an estimate for the procedures I needed done. ($3000 for two crowns) The only problem I encountered was that I called before scheduling an appt to see if they accepted our dental insurance. I was told they "Accepted" it. Apparently, I did not understand that there is a difference between "we accept it" and "being a provider" (ok, lesson learned). The receptionist was kind enough to explain that what that means is that we (my husband had an appt too) pay out of pocket for the procedures done and they file the claim with the insurance company for us (so we don't have to) and then the insurance company will reimburse us. This was a BIG surprise for me and thankfully we were able to cover it. I like this dentist but paying out of pocket for entire bill is the only negative

I get the letter in the mail from care credit, office staff didn't put the address into the system properly and that's why it was denied.
