Not only was it cheaper at Big 5 but they were helpful and I was happy to support a local in-person business rather than Amazon or another online retailer. I think I got a better quality item at Big 5 for approximately 60% of what it cost through Amazon so I was very pleased! Not only did they have sporting goods stuff but also shoes, slippers, clothing, pool toys, and even some little plushie toys. I've become too accustomed to ordering stuff online but this was a nice reminder of the importance and convenience of having local brick & mortar stores too!

Since my experience was great with them I took this bike to them and after a two hour bike fitting I was ready to ride and learn a new sport. The workers are kind and only ask if you are having fun with what you are riding on and if there is something they can do to make your ride more comfortable. Their products for sale in the store come last. I repeat the workers here only care if your having fun on your bike and if your comfortable on it. They listen and make suggestions and you can feel no pressure to buy anything from them.

Big 5 says it is discontinued so they can't exchange it. I found five identical paddles in the store, except for their color and asked to exchange for one of those. They refused saying the price has gone up since I bought my paddle on sale. I would have to pay the difference. I had to dance through hoops and spend one and a half hours arguing with various managers (in store and on the phone) before we worked out a deal. Big 5 needs to treat its customers better.

We even had my son's birthday party in the back room this month - sectioned off by a curtain, we had tables and chairs and brought in our own food.
