However, after befriending other bicyclists and exploring additional shops, I've since learned Sabino Cycles is like a "mini-mafia" shop which pretends to fix your bike, while leaving other flaws. I wanted to get into cycling and had no clue where to start and what to buy for my height and weight. So I went here to ask questions and after an hour of their time I walked out not having to buy anything and with an idea of what I wanted and what size of bike frame I needed. They didn't pressure me to buy anything they just listened and helped. I ended up purchasing a used Specialized Road bike. Since my experience was great with them I took this bike to them and after a two hour bike fitting I was ready to ride and learn a new sport. The workers are kind and only ask if you are having fun with what you are riding on and if there is something they can do to make your ride more comfortable. Their products for sale in the store come last. I repeat the workers here only care if your having fun on your bike and if your comfortable on it. My husband and I came to Tucson from Ohio for bike training the month of March 2025. Unfortunately, about little more than 1/2 way through the month, I had a collision on my Specialized bike with a pick-up. Although I was not injured, my bicycle was pretty damaged. I found Sabino Cycles by searching the internet for Specialized dealers and took my bicycle in the day after the accident. Duncan in the service department did a wonderful job promptly determining what needed to be replaced, providing an estimate for the insurance claim and then getting the bicycle repaired several days before our departure date. I also bought a new helmet from the store. Duncan and all the staff we interacted with were very knowledgeable. Great experience overall. read more

Not the same level of excellence I experienced when I bought my bikes here in 2015 and 2018. Steve Wetmore and the staff he assembled back then were the best; they were careful and committed to providing excellent service. I have been in the shop for tuneups and new parts over the past two years and have been extremely disappointed. My last tuneup and chain replacement (August 2023) came to a total of $245. When I picked up my bike and put it on my car rack, I noticed that the new chain was not lubricated at all. I also asked if the mechanic took it out for a test ride after the service was done. They said YES but the odometer didn't change at all from when I dropped the bike off. In the parking lot, they hastily applied lubricant to the new chain. This didn't inspire my confidence at all. I feel the service was carelessly performed. I won't return to Sabino Cycles in the future. read more

And labor charges can be inexpensive--I know they need to make money, but I'm super happy when I get charged no more than $10 to fix something that would take me an hour and that's if I had all the right tools. read more

I unfortunately had a bad experience at roadrunner Bicycles. I had arrived in Tucson on Thursday evening the 17th to visit family. My Mt. Bike had come loose on the way and I had to dismantle and put it in the car. Preparing for my ride the next morning I found there to be some front disc brake issues. I rode to this shop and arrived at opening. There were only two employees wearing no masks and I there. I was wearing my mask. I explained the issue and that I was in from out of town and rode to their shop. The man in charge there told me he could look at it and get it back to me that afternoon, as he was making his pour over coffee. I would have had to get an Uber back to grandmas. I again asked if he could please just check it real quick, and he replied he couldn't because real quick would turn into 30mins to an hour. I left extremely disappointed and called SABINO CYCLES who told me to come right over. Sabino Cycles was very busy with customers and the mechanics were working on several bikes. They were super helpful and understanding! The gentleman took my bike, made a quick brake adjustment and I was out riding again In 10min's!!! The Service Department is the backbone of Sabino Cycles. I had to take my bike in for replacement of a broken derailleur hanger after laying my bike down. I believe the tech (Josh) immediately made replacement and aligned it to the wheel. I was out of there in about 10 minutes. Next visits were covered by Chris (wears glasses), he handled the warranty return of a component to the Manufacturer not only once but twice. The staff at Sabino cycles were excellent! We just got a new to us specialized from a Facebook sale and noticed the rear thru axle was not the right size. We brought it in to the shop and the swapped us out for the right axle! Everyone was very attentive and kind. Once we started our ride we noticed that there were some shifting issues with the derailleur. Since we were nearby on the loop we stopped back in to Sabino cycles and they threw it right up on the stand and got everything working right again! These guys were quick and professional! I was invited to a demo of the Lauf Gravel bike recently at an event held by Sabino Cycles. The first issue was that the bike guy was a little rude when I was checking in for the ride: I was early and had never been to the HopHouse and wanted to make sure I didn't miss the demo. The demo ride took us out on dirt roads north of River road at night. For some reason, the ride leader decided to set a very high tempo for the ride that I simply was not comfortable with given I was on an unfamiliar bike, at night, on dirt. The issue was that they dropped me out in the dark and cold. I had to get my phone out and figure out where I was and how to get back. Fortunately I caught up with the group on the way out and continued the rise, but again the ride leader put on a very fast pace. When we got to river road on the way back he ran a red light and took off down the Loop and I never saw that part of the group again and I was doing 35kmh. This is the night they lost a sale of a spanky new Lauf gravel bike and any future purchases of any type. read more

I went in for adjustment and service on a road bike. I watched one of their staff tighten my carbon seat post without torque wrench (although at the time I didn't realize that was required). They over tightened the clamp and cracked my seat post. $180 to replace. read more

They are pretty nice and the repair shop is friendly and quick which is why I can't give them a fully negative review. I have had several repairs and purchases with this shop. Recently I went there for advice on shoes and have purchased several products from them and worked with the repair shop. I was fitted for and purchased the size and model based solely on their recommendation which cost $225. After two rides my feet developed neuropathic pain. I checked the size which is a full size bigger than I wear. The oversized shoe was causing the pain because my foot just slides around. I cycle regularly but am new to clipping in. Since the make and size we're fully on their recommendation and I could not wear the shoes, I thought they would at least offer to exchange for the appropriate size. I attempted to return with receipt from one week prior purchase. They did not acknowledge their role in the poor fit or pain I was experiencing or offer store credit or exchange. Instead they tried to sell me more insoles and wedges to fill the oversized shoes I purchased from them totally based on their advice. I would not purchase anything from them since they do not stand behind the products they sell or the recommendation they make. Now I'm out 225 bucks and I have neuropathy in my feet . I was respectful but they were totally I'm unapologetic. Would not buy from them in the future since they will sauté anything to make a sale but don't stand behind their products or recommendation. read more

I recently bought a new bike at Sabino Cycles. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences in retail that I have ever experienced. I think I worked with just about everyone in the store and all were equally helpful. I have loved the bike and really enjoyed the people at Sabino. Today, I had an issue with the di2 shifting. The back derailleur wasn't working and it turned out that a wire was pulled out of the derailleur. So I limped down to the store and let them have it to fix for me. They were more than cordial and told me that I probably couldn't get it back until early afternoon. So kiddingly I asked them if I could borrow a bike to get home. I really was kidding, in fact I had already called Lyft. They insisted and they gave a really nice bike to get home. About an hour later they called me and told me the bike was ready. They were GREAT!!! I hope everyone that reads this goes into Sabino. They are definitely the best shop in Tucson and better than others that I have frequented in other states. read more

I haven't been in since they've been under the new ownership of Steve, who used to be at Broadway Bicycles, and I was excited to see what developments had occurred. I stopped in looking for a pair of mountain bike shoes. I was surprised at the depth of their selection, as most shops only carry mid-bottom line of each brand. Sabino Cycles carries almost the full line of Specialized as well as Pearl Izumi and Northernware. Unfortunately, they didn't have what I was looking for but the person who helped me (unfortunately I can't remember his name) went above and beyond trying to help me find something that would work. The store itself is big but not overwhelming and they have a good selection of the bike basics (shoes, clothes, accessories, etc) as well as a full-service shop and several high-quality bike brands such as Specialized. I've been riding for a few years now, and have been to several shops in town. Sabino Cycles is the first shop to take the time to explain things to me, and gain my trust. They make the best recommendation for you, based on what your needs are and not based on what they want to "sell" you. Chris Stringer in the shop always takes the time to go over what he did to my bike and answer any maintenance questions I might have. Steve, the owner, is very helpful and has worked me in to their schedule on occasion when I had a race coming up and a minor issue with the bike that needed to be looked at quickly. Everyone is super friendly and informational. They have a good supply of specialized and high end items that you could want as well. I always feel comfortable leaving my bike there and feel like when I leave, I know they will stand behind their work. It's a great shop, with great people and I'd recommend them to anyone that loves their bike and wants to know it's in good hands. read more

This is one of the finest bike shops I have encountered in my mountain biking tour of America (the lower 48). Steve, the owner, is hands-on and his staff is friendly, helpful and competent. I went there originally (a couple of years ago) to rent a bike, which they don't do. But, they put me in touch with a guide who did - great service, even though they didn't make a dime on it. Then, on my second trip, I brought my 29er and my fat bike to them. They serviced them, recommended some repairs (I clearly needed) and got it done quickly and reasonably. I was in need of new road cycling shoes as my current shoes were hurting my feet. I went several times to a different shop in town and really got no help and only one shoe to try on. So I tried Salbino Cycles and was amazed by the service and selection. As a female with small feet, I have never actually had a shop have my size before this year. All previous shoes were ordered online. The nice saleslady measured my foot, the arch length, the width, and brought out 6 pairs in my size to try! I do not make decisions quickly, but she stayed with me, checking out the fit of the shoe on my foot, for all the shoes, as I tried them and retried them. This is the 3rd time I've visited the store. Today I entered through the service area I did not see any signs with regards to face mask or for that matter hand sanitizer at that entrance. A nice lady assisted me with tires and tubes for my bike, while my roommate wanted to get his bike serviced. I asked my sales lady if they sold a bike rack to use for cleaning/maintenance. She said yes and lead my to another part of the store when she could not find 1 she asked a Person who was the owner where they were . Which at that point he proceeds to belittle me because I wasn't wearing a face mask not caring that his employee brought me to this area and showed no interest to his employees question about the bike rack,and stormed to the front of the store to retrieve a mask. And said I must wear it while in the store. I don't have a problem wearing the mask but there is a right way to tell your customer your needs to wear 1 and not with attitude. I made my purchase regrettable but will not return there for any future purchases. And my roommate will take his service elsewhere! I've told a lot of people how nice everyone is there. Just moved into the area and needed to find a place to get my bike serviced. It has been too many years since I was out on the road and decided to get the chain oiled and the gears looked at. Ken took a look at my bike, ran through the gears, added some oil to the chain and air to the flat tires. At that point he said there was nothing that he could see that needed to be done and gave me my bike back at no charge. From walking in and being welcomed to walking out with well wishes, I do believe I have found my new shop for both me and my husband. I only started cycling about two years ago, so I still consider myself a newbie. Anyway, I stopped in at Sabino Cycles and brought my bike in because I wanted the seat moved back, but it was already pushed as far as it could go. While I was chatting with the maintenance guys about what I wanted, Jason happened to be there and was listening in. He asked me a couple of questions and based on my answers about how it felt while riding, he said, "I know exactly what the problem is and it doesn't have anything to do with the seat." Long story short, it turns out I had the wrong bike frame size altogether. I was on a 51 and the proper size for me was 54! I felt no pressure to buy a new bike, but because Jason took the time to explain to me what was going on, I was confident my issues were never going to be solved with my current bike. They have a great selection of Specialized and I got a great deal on a Ruby that fits me beautifully and rides like a dream. When you go to Sabino Cycles once, you'll never go anywhere else. Steve, the owner, has built a great team of friendly, professional bike enthusiasts who are adept at speaking to customers at all skill levels.
