I purchased a Pinot Noir (Weinmann + Wurtz 2006) recently and I was very disappointed. The wine was a brownish color and had a very harsh taste. A brown hue in red wine demonstrates that the liquid is past its prime. This place is so convenient to my work so I plan to give Dante's Cellar one more try. read more

Found an Arran 10 year after a long search for it elsewhere. Seem to have a good selection of rare items at decent prices.

This is probably the best liquor store in this busy area that has reasonable prices, great service, and a great selection. They recently expanded the store and have added many great wines, liquors, and spirits. There's also a tasting every Thursday and select other days...I love trying new wines and liquors so it's a lot of fun. No pressure to buy just came tried and had a great time. I've been here a few times and the selection along with the staff is great. There very helpful with their wine suggestions and parings. There never try to up-sell you on wines unless you ask for something more expensive. They have also introduced me to wines and liquor that I never thought of purchasing. Great store located right near the main section of Manhattan. Me and a friend stumbled upon this on our way back from dinner and were very pleased at the selection of almost everything they had in stock. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is they don't carry beer, but what they do have they have a great selection of. Staff is awesome too. The clerk at the doubter was friendly and knowledgable and knew his stuff wine and scotch wise. This wasn't a person just hired to punch keys on a register, this dude knee his facts! That's always appreciated, especially at independents. I'm a single malts drinker, and the selection was amazing. They had Balvennie 12, 14, 15 and 17 year old. No skimping on just having one of a brand. Japanese brands (including one prize bottle of The Yamazaki award winner which I didn't realize was the award winner until the guy clarified the bottle was $45 HUNDRED, not $45. Haha). Anyhow, something of everything. I could drop some serious coin here. Totally worth the trip! read more

Walking in, the store is bright and well-organized. My friend and I got free samples (vodka+OJ and wine!) from a really nice associate. I actually bought a bottle. The man at the counter (I assume he's the manager) is super knowledgeable and offered help to anyone who walked in, even while ringing us up. Multi-tasking! In fact, everyone there was willing to help whoever wasn't sure about their choice. Plus, you get a free bottle of Prosecco. read more

Free Prosecco is a fantastic loss leader for this shop--once you're in there you'll wish you had a whiskey budget. Their prices are surprising good and you can walk out with a very decent bottle of wine for $10. Staff is competent and smart without being overly or underly(?!) friendly. Really like this place, wish I lived closer. Bourbon and scotch selection is obviously excellent but also fairly priced. read more

We are from out-of-town from CA and this was a great find (thanks to Yelp). I have been to two other wine shops in the area, we are staying at 56th & 6th, and this was by far the best. We were looking for a good selection at a reasonable price ($15-$20 a bottle). We know this is Midtown NY so we are no expecting CA wine prices, but they have a good selection of imported wines and CA in this price range. The staff, presumably the owners, were kind and friendly. If you want higher end wines there were plenty of those as well. When we are back in Midtown NY this will be our go to place. read more
