We are so grateful for the incredible experiences both of our kids had at DanMont, most recently our daughter. Over the course of her time there, she has grown tremendously--both academically and socially--and we couldn't be more pleased with how well-prepared she is as she moves on to kindergarten. Academically, the preschool provided a solid foundation in early literacy, math, and critical thinking skills. She learned not only her letters and numbers, but also how to ask questions, express her thoughts clearly, and approach new tasks with confidence and curiosity. The curriculum was thoughtfully designed to make learning fun, engaging, and age-appropriate. Just as important, the school created a nurturing environment that helped her blossom socially. She learned how to make friends, resolve conflicts, share, and work together with others--all key skills she continues to work on and will carry with her for years to come. Both my girls went here and had the best experience. The younger one joined when she was just over 2yr and could barely speak in sentences. she grew to communicate a lot better over the following 3years. both girls also made some really good friends with whom they kept in touch after leaving preschool. Danville Montessori has played a large positive role in our children's early development. We've had the opportunity to send both our son and daughter through the school from the years 2017 to mid 2023. During those years, our children's attendance overlapped. Our daughter started first followed by her brother who just transitioned to public school. We appreciated Danville Montessori's curriculum and periodic feedback which assisted us in preparing our children for public school. In addition to improving our children's academic capacity and love for learning, the school also instilled in them a sense of kindness and courtesy we find essential in our family/daily life. We loved the neighborhood feel of the school and the intimate environment it provided for our kids to thrive. Recognizing our son would benefit from a little more attention, we also optioned for him to stay for Danville Montessori's pre-Kindergarten curriculum before entering public school. The teachers, Chris and Lizzy were always accessible to us and we appreciated that tremendously. The school also assisted us with no pressure decision making especially with our son. In retrospect, Danville Montessori helped our small school community navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. A thankless task which couldn't possibly please everyone, and they managed to successfully prioritized the health and safety of the children and make sure all families were safe along with keeping the school up and running. We appreciated their attention to detail and update to protocol during this ever changing time. Some of our fondest memories at Danville Montessori included the Halloween Parade. Watching the kids parade around Osage park and sing fun songs provided us with lifelong photos and laughs. Hopefully this tradition returns back to the school as the world has transitioned back to normal post pandemic life. As both our children have transitioned to public school, Danville Montessori holds a special place in our heart. We will miss the teachers and classmates we've connected with over the years. Danville Montessori is incredibly well run. And it is not surprising to see 5 star reviews from everyone. The teachers are excellent, the place is very nice (shaded by some wonderful Redwoods on the outside), and the administration is top notch. Lizzie and Chris run a very tight ship. Our first kid "graduated" in July and she emerged from her year at Dan Mont with more learning and empathy. It is an awesome school. Couldn't recommend it higher. Note: We moved from the South Bay and learnt that the tuition was more expensive in the area on the average. In this case, however, we do get what we pay for! :-) read more

My 5.5 year old is close to ending her time at DMS after 2.5 WONDERFUL years with the school, but luckily our 3.5 year old will continue on until he's ready for Kindergarten. We joined DMS in 2020 when we moved to the Danville area and anchoring our children with this school has been our biggest blessing of moving to the suburbs. The education they are receiving is beyond anything I could have expected or hoped for, and the small, familial classes are a dream for their social development. Our almost-Kinder daughter is reading, writing, doing math, learning art, doing science experiments, exploring languages, and spending lots of important time playing and bonding with classmates. Danville Montessori is a warm, welcoming, and family-like environment that has left us with lifelong friends for my children. We have enjoyed sending our son here and were deeply saddened when it was time for him to move on. He still speaks fondly of Mr. Chris, Ms. Lizzy, and all of his teachers! As I went to write this review, I saw a recent unflattering review about the school that was posted by another parent. I was surprised by everything they claimed, as we never experienced anything like that. It wasn't until I saw the initials, and the mention of her children biting, that I knew who this parent and in fact, my son was directly affected by the biting by her twins on numerous occasions. We were pleasantly surprised at the thought and care taken by the school regarding the incidents. We were notified immediately, and they outlined what was being done to work with the other family to correct the behavior. Sadly, my son was on the receiving end of two bites, one that broke the skin and left a mark. The latter incident was one that saw the student expelled, and the school was very transparent with how the matter was handled. They sent a school-wide email informing everyone about the incidents, as well as the parent and student rights, and updated everyone on their behavioral policy to prevent matter like this from reoccurring. As a parent, I completely understand that everyone has a different parenting style, but this family seemed a bit overwhelmed. Other parents and I witnessed on several occasions them letting their kids play in the parking lot unattended and unsupervised while next to a busy road with cars whizzing by at 40mph. So, for what it's worth, I 100% support the way the school is run and how the children are cared for. It's a shame that Yelp can be used for retaliation by posting a disingenuous and vindictive 1-star review and not laying out all the facts. read more

We started our twins at Danville Montessori (Coming from a home-based daycare thru Covid). This was precisely what the twins needed to do the following: - Develop into two different, socially responsible, empathetic lil humans - For us as parents, this school taught us to drive independence, self-learning, critical thinking, and having more courage to let our twins lead the way - the twins developed some fantastic relationships with other friends and teachers; the impact these teachers have had on them is profound and a long-term bond. - the twins have learned so much academically, and this school is for building a solid foundation academically, focus, socially, and emotionally - The teachers always gave an update when we asked (when we were struggling at home) - The teachers also worked with the twins on routines, feeding themselves, nutrition, and manners whenever we were struggling at home - the teachers talked to them and reinforced good behavior We saw a huge positive change as they graduated from Ms. Gabby (who really helped in coaching the twins about potty training) to Ms. Sukanya (who worked on manners, feeding/self-eating in a timely fashion, and academic concepts) to Mr. Chris (who worked on building their confidence, courage and social presence via presentations, playtime, building relationships etc) ... Ms. Angel was always available in the mornings and eased drop off on some hard mornings, and their Mandarin also developed very quickly...Every graduation was a giant leap in their overall growth. The love from teachers is irreplaceable. We move on to a Junior KG class, and I know the twins will always come by and spend some time with their old teachers and friends from time to time. Stay away! They approach it as a business not a loving daycare and they are unnecessarily strict and limiting. All kids are afraid of Chris and hate that they need to go 'sit' outside with him if they do something wrong. We used to find kids sitting and waiting to be picked up (not playing!) and these are 2-5 year olds. Our son developed behaviors (biting, hitting etc.) not seen before or after. Much happier at our new school. They didn't allow parents to enter even the backyard and it took CA education board visit for them to change. Check out their public record. read more

Danville Montessori was an amazing school for my son's first year of real school. The teachers helped him become so independent and he learned basic life skills as a three year old. His academic skills soared and he came home with new knowledge every week. Mr. Chris was always available to have candid conversations with us whenever we had concerns. Danville Montessori is a wonderful school. Today was my youngest's last day and it's truly bittersweet. Both my children attended this school and loved it. DanMont socially and academically (more than) prepared my kids for their respective grade levels. Mr. Chris and Ms. Lizzy are communicative and organized. Completed work for the week is sent home every Friday so parents can see what their children did for the week. The bi-annual progress reports are very thorough and assess the children as a whole person. What I like most about DanMont is that my kids graduated with confidence, manners, and kindness. My daughter attended Danville Montessori from the time she turned two until shortly after her third birthday, when we moved away from the area. My wife and I have visited and toured a number of schools both before and after our time at Danville Montessori, and we can comfortably say that we have not found a comparable school anywhere in the Bay Area. The facilities at the school are immaculate, the teacher-to-student ratio is unparalleled, the staff is professional and competent, and the administration is more present and active than we've seen anywhere else. During her time at Danville Montessori, our daughter made tremendous verbal gains, improved her behavior by leaps and bounds, and even picked up some Mandarin. She constantly played "teacher" at home, and through her play reenactments we could see not only how much she adored and looked up to her instructors, but also how they conducted their classes and how much positive praise and constructive reinforcement they used on a daily basis. Two of my kiddos have attended Danville Montessori over the past 5+ years. After having our oldest attend two other preschools and seeing how well prepared he was for elementary school, I can say with confidence that Danville Montessori is the best out there. The teachers are very engaging and loving to the kids while enforcing good behavior. Mr. Chris runs a tight operation. The periodic evaluations (far more comprehensive than anything I've seen) are very thorough and easy to track progress on myriad developmental areas over quarters or years. The curriculum is very immersive for the kids as I catch glimpses of it during pick up. As a side benefit, I've really liked the parents and kids in both my kid's classes! read more

I am extremely impressed with Danville Montessori! I don't have a child who attends there however I am one of their neighbors. After a gusty wind storm, their tree debris landed in our yard. I called to let them know. They had their gardening service clean up my backyard which I was not expecting. Wow such wonderful neighbors. Their staff,Chris, was very professional in calling me back and the owner called my husband to let us know they would move the debris. When I sit in backyard I can hear teachers talk to the children with kind voices. Lots of laughter echos through our fence. We had our son in another local Montessori but were not that happy with the school so after looking into a few other local schools we choose Danville Montessori after an impressive tour. Our son is now moving onto kindergarten after 1.5 years at DM and we couldn't be more happy with his experience at DM. This review is long overdue! My son attended Danville Montessori from age 2 and he thrived there! The Teachers are amazing; they are so attentive and in tune with the children. The school has just the right mix of emphasis on social and academic development. The atmosphere is calm. I always remember being in awe of a room full of toddlers sitting quietly and listening to stories at pick-up. Mr. Chris and Miss Lizzy run a very structured program and were always super responsive. They worked diligently with us to find creative ways to overcome any behavioral issues. They were also supportive of potty training and did everything possible to help us achieve this milestone! Academically, my son excelled there. Work was sent home every Friday and progress tracked carefully. My son is now in first grade and reads at a second-grade level. His math, creativity and writing skills are also way ahead. From talking to other parents, I believe this advancement is typical for kids who have attended Danville Montessori. Our daughter went here for under a year but we found it to be a wonderful experience. She was just barely two years old and we were worried about how she would adjust to being away from home. The first week or two were very rough for all of us, but the teachers and staff were wonderful and helped her to adjust very quickly. This is a true Montessori school with a healthy emphasis on learning and fun. We were constantly amazed by the changes our daughter went through after going to school here. Some things you should know: they ask that you supply lunch which was fine for us because our daughter is vegetarian; they only have full day schedules; and it's a little on the pricey side. The facilities are very well kept and clean and it's not a chaotic madhouse like some places we checked out. Dennis, the owner, is incredibly friendly and is super kind. We definitely recommend this for anybody looking for a Montessori school experience. read more

Our son attended Danville Montessori for 2 and a half years and during that time we have seen him grow and develop intellectually, but also behaviorally. Mr. Chris, Ms. Lizzy, and the teachers not only teach basic skills like writing, addition and subtraction, reading, science, but also life lessons on being respectful, thoughtful and caring towards others. It was so comforting to our family that we knew our son was getting a well-rounded education. 1 year ago I first reviewed Danville Montessori School and felt compelled to update my review based on first hand knowledge as a parent and observer of the school, but also as a messenger from other DanMont parents who mirror my exact sentiments and opinions. Last year I reviewed that compared to the other schools we toured no other school compared to Danville Montessori School and that remains true to this day. Based on its exceptional staff and academic environment we enrolled our daughter June of last year and have not regretted our decision one bit. I must say that our DD would have been in the driver's seat if at any point in time she abhorred attending DanMont; expressed disdain or fear towards any of the teachers; or simply transitioned into a recluse/shell/or robot of a child, contrary to her boisterous and bubbly personality. Our DD has not exhibited any of these signs and we are very vigilant over her character and emotions. In fact, our DD adores all of her teachers. She talks about each of her teachers in the most affectionate way and even goes so far as to inform us that she wants Ms. Selina, Ms. Chen, Ms. Mayra, Mr. Chris, and Ms. Paulina to play in her backyard or attend her birthday party. Definitely not the behavior of a child who fears her teachers. In fact, she even emulates them at home when she is "teaching" or "reading" to her stuffed animal friends; she is very respectful and active in her instruction. I truly believe the best insight our DD can give us regarding her teachers/caregivers and how she (and other students are treated) when we, parents, are not around is the role playing/mimicking she engages in at home; and thus far our DD's mimicking of her teachers has been nothing but positive and respectful. When we first toured DanMont we were shocked at how well behaved all the children were and how immersed they were in their work. The most important components we wanted our DD's school to have were discipline, respect, and academics. DanMont fulfilled all those during the tour and it has lived up to its expectations one year later. Our DD is very well behaved and respectful (of course home/parent reinforcement and teaching also comes into play here as well). For example, one day she extends her right hand towards me and says "nice to meet you, my name is ______," (we had not taught her that yet, at that point) or whenever she gets up from a chair she tucks it back under the table. Academically our DD is thriving and we attribute that wholly to DanMont. Our DD enjoys reading, she practices her Spanish with me, she apprises me of random facts like where Pablo Picasso was born (Holland, by the way). Whenever there is something she needs to work on/improvement, the school informs us at the parent/teacher conferences. They don't just say she needs to improve here, they actually tell us the steps they are taking to work with her, how she responds to various techniques, and also guide us with activities that she can benefit from at home. Our DD has also been holding writing instruments very well (at 2.5 she showed signs of this technique) and her letter writing is amazing, considering she is 3 years old. Socially our daughter has not shirked, in fact she has blossomed into an engaging and socially active member of society. She is friendly, befriends kids her age, respects adults, she is considerate and she has made many friends who also exhibit the same characteristics. My confidence and respect of DanMont is further reinforced by the opinions and feelings of our DD's friends' parents. The consensus amongst us is that our children are thriving, discipline is appropriately and respectfully administered by the teachers, and there is a mutual respect, admiration, and concern between teacher and student. With DanMont there is no hidden agenda or a facade...what you see is what you get: you see well behaved children, your child will also be well behaved; you see students affectionately running towards their teachers, it's because they care and respect each other; they preach an academically oriented teaching environment, the children are enriched with academics and they bring home the work to prove it (or your child will simply discuss with you what they learn about); you see a clean and well kept school, your child contributed to that cleanliness; and finally you see the teachers engrossed in the children's safety and well being, as opposed to engaging in idle chatter with parents (thus neglecting the children), it shows that their priority are the children, your children, and their safety/well-being/enrichment. I am extremely proud to say that our DD is a DanMont student who has grown leaps and bounds and we look forward to seeing her grow even more in the future. DanMont was/is the best investment we have made for our DD. Our child began attending Danville Montessori shortly after he turned two. Prior to attending Danville Montessori, he was slower in speech development (Doctor referred him to SRVUSD speech program), was somewhat shy around other people, and was extremely clingy to mom and dad. We toured a number of other preschools in San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, and Danville. Our oldest had previously gone to a Montessori school in the Sacramento area, and we were very comfortable with the Montessori philosophy of child care. None of the other schools we toured gave us the same level of comfort as Danville Montessori. The environment there was very nurturing, the outdoor play area welcoming (my kid LOVES the play structure, basketball hoop, and dump trucks), and the interior was extremely clean. The teachers are also very professional, friendly, and gave a strong first impression. I also loved how all of the chairs, bookshelves, and other items are at the kids level, so they can get their jobs on their own. Shortly after joining, my son became less shy, caught up in speech, and became an exceptional student. Now after three years after first arriving at Danville Montessori, my son is ready to go to Kindergarten, is reading books on his own, sounds out words and signs on his own, knows all of his addition, multiplication tables (!), and has a true passion for their art sessions on Wednesdays. He is a leader among his classmates (friends), and has developed a strong bond with his teachers. We will be missing Danville Montessori when our son goes to Kindergarten. read more

Extremely excellent and well-balanced curriculum. Students are highly acadimically advanced and socially well developed. They are more than ready for school. My daughter started in Danville Montessori right after she turned 2. This year she was admitted to a highly competitive private school for Kindergarten (admission rate ~15%). She occasionally went to another preschool for backup care. Everytime the teachers at the backup care were amazed by her ability to read, write, and do math. We recently started her to do math in Kumon, and the commments from the Kumon director were "exceptional, very bright future in studying". When our friends saw her art work from school, they were suprised it was from a girl of her age. My daughter learned phonics, reading, math, art, science, geography, artists, Chinese, Spanish, etc at Danville Montessori. More importantly, she built strong confidence in her academic and social abilites, and learned the way to learn which will benefit her for her whole life. read more

My son has been attending Danville Montessori for just over a year now and I can't rave enough about this school. My husband and I wanted to make an informed decision when selecting a pre-school for our three year old son so we toured eight or nine schools between Dublin (we live in Dublin) and Danville. Danville Montessori stood out by far! We were searching for a well-balanced curriculum focused on academics and social development; Danville Montessori met those criteria and then some! The teachers are wonderful and genuinely care about the children and their growth, both academically and socially. They proactively provide feedback and guidance if my son needs help with certain activities. The school is clean and organized. The children are well behaved and focused on their activities. Over the last year, my son has learned so much from writing his own name, starting to learn to read, talking in Spanish and Mandarin, the lifecycle of plants, animal habits and characteristics, proper etiquette (saying thank you, putting his chair in after he get up, etc.) and more . . . all of this and he's four! Most importantly, he loves his school, his teachers and his friends at school. I would recommend this school to anyone!!!! read more

We had our daughter enrolled in Danville Montessori for a period of close to 2 years. The change in our daughter, from a social as well as academic perspective was quite visible from the third month of enrollment. Our daughter was more spontaneous, became more outgoing and was enthused with the work that she did in school. Every Friday, we used to get the task completed in school back andwe could see the pride of having accomplished something in our daughter. Her math skills improved considerably and she is using the same skills in Kindergarten as well. The teachers are vested in the child's overall development and help the child through every step. We still distinctly remember that our daughter, once loath getting to school, enthusiastically look forward to meeting her teacher, Ms. Chen every day. Danville Montessori has the right curriculum and the right amount of discipline to help a child. The teachers at every stage hold meetings with parents to talk about the success and developmental needs of the child. I believe this has a lot to do with the size of each class and the number of children that each teacher handles. In summary, this would be a good place to begin a child's journey with a strong foundation with an emphasis on discipline. We greatly appreciate the outstanding quality of education our daughter received during her two years stay in the montessori school of danville. When she graduated in June this year, she became academically and emotionally ready for 1st grade study. With the owners' extensive experiences from previously working for a school district board, with their excellent help in providing us the exact CA education codes we should reference to persuade our local school district allowing our daughter to skip the kindergarten, with Mr. Chris, the school administrator, 's personnel recommendation of our daughter to the head of the school district in their phone conversation, with our daughter's excellent academic test scores and with our persistence to request her going to 1st Grade, our 5.5 years old daughter was finally approved to start her 1st grade study three months ago. Because of receiving the danville montessori's excellent education on extensive subjects, our daughter continues excel in her 1st grade study now and graded excellence in all subjects including reading, math etc. Apart from providing extensive learning subjects like English, Spanish and Mandarin classes, geography, math, computer studies, astronomy, with adequate teaching resources, the danville montessori and their staffs are capable of individualizing their curriculums for the purpose of stimulating students' curiosity and age-properly challenging students to their academic capable. We have been a Danville Montessori family for the past 3 years starting in the 2-yr old classroom. The education our daughter has gotten there has been truly outstanding, from learning how to read and write her letters and numbers properly to telling me that a kangaroo is a marsupial. I believe a lot of attention and thoughtfulness has been put into planning their curriculum. Much of the day is spent outside which we consider to be a plus. The teachers are a great combination of being energetic, warm, and caring. The school's physical environment is meticulous. Staff are always available to address questions and concerns; they are very prompt in responding to emails. Our daughter really loved going to school there to play with her friends and be with her teachers. We are sad to leave this school as our daughter heads off to Kindergarten, but are so grateful and pleased for the time we had there. read more

HORRIBLE...BEWARE..... Dan and Eleni lied to us on numerous occassions and admitted to yelling at my son at school. Dennis picked up the phone and said "He's not available at the moment, when HE was the one who picked up the phone". What if it was an emergency, is this the way to school acts! This school does NOT promote social skills at all. Every time I went there, I would hear how my son did not know how to spell words like "rainbow or dinner"...he was TWO! Our daughter loves Danville Montessori School, Miss Lizzy and Mr Chris are actively engaged to lead the team of teachers to help my daughter grows. After about 3 years preparation at Danville Montessori School, my daughter is more advance academically and socially than the other kids in her kindergarten class. All of my daughter's friends who graduated from Danville Montessori School can read a picture book or a simple story book and can do 2 digits addition and single digit subtraction before attending the kindergarten. My daughter's favorite teachers are Ms. Selina, Ms. Chen and Ms. Heather, she talked about each of them everyday and informed us that she wanted to play with them in our house. They hold a parent meeting every year. During which we got a comprehensive report about our daughter on her academical, social and personal skills. It was amazing that her teacher can replay all those details about my daughter's behavior at the school, for example who she played with and what issues she encountered when played with a kids and how she solved that either by herself or by coming to her teacher for helps. etc. Not only our daughter learns the advanced academical skills but picks up a lot a good habits too. She habitually cleans up her toys very time she finishes it, this is very important for her future and we are happy that we picked the right school for our daughter. I have had my daughter in this school for over a year and she is 4 right now. I really like the montessori program and the materials for the kids. My daugher loves going to school and has learned reading, writing and math, along with geography, science, art and other things that i definately don't teach her. The teachers seem like they are stable there and there has not been changes in that department which I like. You do have to be proactive with the teachers and ask how your kid is doing but I find that to be true about anything in life. read more

There is no better school than Danville Montessori. Not only is the curriculum incredible and well-balanced, but Mr. Dennis, the owner and director, and all the teachers, are passionate and loving and provide the children with a challenging and well-balanced education. The positive environment and influence at Danville Montessori is extraordinary and surpasses all of the other pre- schools in the entire Bay area (I know both from personal experience and from talking to other parents). Our daughter thrived here and still talks about all of her teachers and experiences every day, many months after we had to move out of state.
