Dao is the newest restaurant addition to the Garza Blanca property, specifically located in the south tower of Hotel Mousai. The menu is traditional Chinese and other east Asia inspired cuisine. The staff here was super attentive and personable. The design and ambiance is very sophisticated and well attended. It is highly encouraged to dress up, but not necessarily required. The food was very tasty as well. And it is included if you opted for the all inclusive option. Overall, highly recommend!

Having been a fan of the other restaurants at Mousai and Garza Blanca, we were SUPER EXCITED to return to Mousai to try this new restaurant which only opened three weeks ago. In summary, we had an amazing dining experience at Dao, and even went back a couple of times before we left! Ha! The food, the atmosphere, but notably the service made this a five star experience, and made this restaurant my favorite here (I may even like it more than Hiroshi's!) And that is saying something, which you know if you have ever stayed at the Mousai. We were welcomed so warmly each time we went back. Our servers Ivan (1st and 3rd nite) and Vicente (2nd nite) treated us like royalty. Correction everyone provides the best, service, treating us like old friends. Ivan recalled us from our visit to Mousai last year. "Welcome home!" He was so enthusiastic, helpful and attentive - a huge part of our dining experience. You could tell he felt so proud of the restaurant, of how well it was doing, very popular - many reservations, and the food. The chief came out last night introduce himself. So nice. I'm Chinese-American so I was already familiar with most of the dishes on the menu, and had a good idea of what my Italian-Puerto Rican boyfriend would like as well... We ordered a massive amount of food each time we've gone and on our first visit would have kept on ordering if the restaurant wasn't closing lol.... Nick's favorites were the gyoza (10) dumplings, the shu mei (steamed pork dumplings) (10+), I also thought the shrimp crispy rolls (10) were very delicious. They have Szechuan oil on the table which should be mixed with the soy sauce, for a very nice dipping sauce. The egg white fried rice was good (I a 9, Nick a 8); the fish ball and crab cake noodle soup (a solid 8) the broth was very tasty. For dessert my bf ordered the creme brûlée which he really liked (8+); he may have rated it higher, he has more of a sweet tooth than I do. Our favorite dessert was the banana lychee rolls with coconut ice cream. (10) That was a suggestion of our server Vicente, which was a great call. We both loved the pork and shrimp won ton soup, the broth is so tasty! (10+) which we got our second time there. My favorite dish was the HOR FUN (I know them as "chow fun") noodles and we've ordered that each of the three times we've gone. These noodles are large flat rice noodles, which here are made fresh daily. This has been been my favorite comfort food for years (for a few years a picture of chow fun noodles was my background on my Facebook page lol) - we'd go late night while we were studying for finals while in college for a chow fun run in Chinatown. Anyway, I digress.... The menu at Dao has a little nice description of the "Chef's Hor Fun Noodles" is a traditional rice flat noodle said to have originated from the town of Guonghou, China ....(actually where my ancestors were from). You can get the hor fun noodles with chicken, beef, vegetable or bbq pork. I got the beef, which is what I usually get at the Chinese restaurants at home. They have a creative drink menu, we tried we got three of the specialty drinks, but I think the way to go is get a Cadillac margarita. Yummy! They bring a cart to your table and do the / make the margarita/ cocktail there at your table. The first time I went, I opted to just go with a dry sparkling wine, which I felt went nicely with the complexity of the flavors in our dishes. My bf got a nice red wine. Both our glasses were always kept full.... Thank you Ivan! So I think we'd recommend either a Cadillac margarita or wine / sparking wine. I'm have g a Cadillac margarita as I edit this review. We liked being offered lemon, cucumber, strawberries for our sparkling water. Nice touch. The restaurant itself is beautiful, modern, with gorgeous marble floors. The marble floors is a plus..... and a minus honestly. The 1st night we were there, there seemed to be a lot of people celebrating birthdays, lots of singing happy birthday so it kinda got loud. The price for beauty.... Oh yeah we couldn't wait to go back and yeah, like I said we went back three times this trip. Yesterday, we hit Hiroshi's first for "Happy Hour" sushi and Hiroshi martini, and then went to Dan for "dinner." OINK! Yeah the first and second time we went we really were having such a nice time we closed the restaurant down! They offered to make a dish for us for us take it to go, which was sweet. We said, "Nah, that will just give us another reason to come back tomorrow." Which we did! :)

I was really excited to try this restaurant! Of all of the places at Garza Blanca and Hotel Mousai, you'll find the friendliest staff here. The drinks of choice were the martinis specifically the raspberry martini. I really enjoyed the chili oil on everything. The dumplings were a little bit dry, but could be improved with a little bit of cornstarch and a little more fat. The rice noodles seem to be made in house, and were thicker than what you might find elsewhere. Overall the hor fun was really good. My friend raved about the chicken satay. We would've come back for more if we had another night. One thing I wanted to try but I didn't get a chance to was the brisket noodle soup. Next time I'll be back for it

This place was awesome. The decor was beautiful. We had great waitstaff (Angel and José) who were attentive, kind, and helpful when it came to making a choice between so many delicious options. We had the siu mai, dumplings, calamari, soft shell crab, five spice duck breast, and combination fried rice. My husband and I shared all of the options and they were all so good. The soft shell crab was some of the best I have ever had, and my husband agreed. The duck was perfectly cooked, crispy and delicious with a wonderful sauce. Overall, this place was fantastic and I really enjoyed the experience!

The food here is hit or miss. The room is beautiful. Service is 4/5. Price for value is low - the prices are hard to justify. One of the highlights was the traditional Siu Mai that was garnished with gold leaf. I had the Dragon Fly cocktail and it was exceptional, as was the presentation. Avoid the sticky rice, it was odd and a ridiculously small portion, which was pooled in hot sauce. Overall, good to stop by and have a cocktail and appetizer, then move on for dinner. The hotel is located at Hotel Mousai and the address on profile seems incorrect.

In A Nutshell: -Dao located between the North and South Towers of Hotel Mousai is nicely decorated, but the food was just ok. -The good thing is at least they have a Chinese cuisine option to check out during your stay at this 5 Diamond Resort. -I ordered the wonton soup & the noodles were too big & not al dente, the broth was average. Overall, after living in California for decades & visiting nearly every Asian country I know what is good Asian food, Dao just misses the mark, it's just average.

    Gorgeous restaurant decor!

We stayed at Hotel Mousai and Dao was our favorite restaurant. We went twice during our stay, and even switched out of Hiroshi to eat at Dao. Dao's decor is absolutely gorgeous and has excellent air conditioning. The service is excellent. The food is so delicious and makes the whole experience to a higher level. The Gurin cocktail was our favorite. For starters we ordered the Cucumber salad, beef dumpling, crab wontons, santai, and Zion. All were fantastic. Then we had the Mongolian beef, orange chicken, and chow mein vegetable noodles. These were also excellent. The only dish we were not crazy about was the Emperor noodles. And then to make things really amazing, a lovely young lady showed up playing the violin!

The food was above average, but not quite as good as Din Tai Fung. The service was superb! Thank you Alberto for taking such good care of us for our anniversary dinner. The building is beautiful, and it has a modern Chinese decor that is also beautiful. If you are looking for excellent service, pretty good food in a beautiful building, DAO is for you.

I enjoyed a delicious dinner. It will be a regular visit when I am in PV. They strive for excellence and mostly achieve it. Apart from the pretentious hostess, the service from Luis and Alberto was perfect and the manager Juan Carlos was open to feedback. I think the food will be award winning. I took Juan's suggestions and had an amazing crab salad and the emperor's duck. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere was breathtaking. Who wouldn't love dining here? But the food speaks for itself. Reservations are strongly recommended.

We stopped in heading back to our airbnb and wanted something for lunch and food for later. It was more than enough food for two meals. The price was unbelievable. Two plates of food for 500 pesos. There is no way that can be beat. I would recommend this place for a quick (good) meal that's also inexpensive. I am deducting one star because we originally went at 12pm and they weren't opened on a Tuesday went back on Wednesday and they were.

Gosh, this was the cheapest restaurant meal I've had in Puerto Vallarta by far...89 pesos (under US $5) for 2 selections including fried rice/chow mein. There are tables (all filled) but no table service. I ordered takeout. Selections are laid out cafeteria style on steamer trays. I picked pork short ribs (more bone than meat but tasty and the sauce is good) and whole stir fry shrimp (a bit spicy and really good flavors). I couldn't decide between fried rice or chow mein, so the woman said half/half. Both were decent, maybe a bit too salty, but the entrees are the stars of the show. This may be a true hole in the wall place off the beaten track, but is definitely a place I'd seek out again. It's a block from the Malecon and easy to get to!

I ordered off of the restaurant week menu while my SO opted to order off of the regular one. He started with the calamari, which was quite good. Nice and light breading and not overcooked. We sampled the papaya salad (one of the best I've ever tasted), coconut fried rice with yellow curry, drunken noodles with shrimp and mango sticky rice. This was my first time trying mango sticky rice and I'm glad I did it here because Mexico has such excellent mangos. It was fantastic and is now a new favorite. The curry rice was also delicious but for me, was a lot of food, which is not a bad thing. A great value actually since I got three meals out of it! They also serve margaritas by the pitcher, which is literally illegal in the ridiculous state we are from so we were very excited at this option. The full pitcher was a bit much for 2 but my friends, not to worry! They do a half pitcher!!! Our server was so nice and did a great job. Food came out very quickly as well. We had a great time at Archie's Wok and it has been added to our list of musts when in PV.

I ordered take out since the wife wanted to stay in. Pork egg rolls, Mongolian curry beef, almond chicken and fried rice. I had a lemonade while I was waiting. Everything was packaged well (lids taped on, sauce servings with lids, wrapped in cling film. The food was tasty. While I was not much more than 5 minutes back to the hotel, the egg rolls were soggy. The sweet and sour sauce for them was very good, great flavor and not overly thick. I asked for the curry to be hot, but not too hot, it was pretty mild. Definitely worth giving it a shot when you're looking to switch things up. Like most of PV, it was good and it was spendy (about 1,400 MXD for 2 mains, combination fried rice and 3 pork egg rolls + 1 lemonade).
