I'm so sad Daphne's can't seem to get it together. I just waited 45 minutes for my street pitas that finally came out in a to-go package when I wanted to dine in. I have been hoping they'd figure this out but it's been two years and nothing ever changes. They are understaffed, slow, and constantly putting out fires. I want to take a picture but don't want to embarrass anyone...out of the 12 available tables inside this restaurant, all twelve are covered in food and dishes. No one is bussing anything. Today, my dad and I decided on Daphne's for a quick, easy lunch. Because we both only have an hour long lunch, this was convenient for us. We arrived at 11:30 and upon walking in, there was one other customer inside. I ordered a Cali pita and baklava, while my dad ordered the Cali-greek bowl. We waited 28 minutes to get our food! Keep in mind, there was ONE single order before us. In addition, the food sat on the counter waiting to be delivered to us for roughly ten minutes. By the time we began eating, the food was cold and poorly prepared- and we only had 15 minutes to eat and rush back to work. They also forgot to include the baklava and when I confronted her about it with my receipt, she seemed bothered that I had asked. Two employees at lunch time seems an absurd for a restaurant such as this. Around 12, the lunch crowd began flowing in and there is STILL only one cook. Meanwhile, the cashier has been assisting one customer with multiple orders and doesn't say anything to those who had been waiting about 15 minutes at this point. For a quick-lunch set-up (order at the counter), the meal took a long time to arrive: about a half hour. They didn't check on us to explain; we had to ask. The nice woman manager explained that the charbroiled chicken takes a long time to cook. They should tell customers that in the beginning, or have it already prepared in the kitchen. The tzatziki sauce was forgotten from our order; we had to ask for it. The restaurant inside was very noisy, with lots of clashing pots and pans. We had to move outdoors. read more

I don't go out of my way usually to write a negative review but when you've had more than one negative experience I feel that it's needed. It's unfortunate because Greek food is my favorite type of food. On a recent occasion I did a to go order and it took them an hour to make my food. I just ordered a falafel. They didn't have anybody before me and didn't put my order in until I said something. Today I decided to give them one last try.. my falafel was mush, they must have prepped the falafel with meat (I'm a vegetarian, falafel is their vegetarian option) because I got a horrible stomach ache and to top it off they didn't give me any taziki when I had specifically asked for it. This Daphnes's used to be MUCH better. However, since there has been a change in management the service has declined DRAMATICALLY! We used to go about once a week and the 2 managers, always greeted us and awknowledged our return. Jacob, Paul and the burgers were why we went. The Pita Burger which is our favortie menu item has declined. If we wanted a burger we would go there and told everyone we talked to they should try Daphnes burgers. Not anymore. The decline in customer service and change of burger is enough to never go back. The gentleman with glasses never speaks to us and supposedly he is running the show. The very very, curly haired girl is friendly and we like her a lot. They have added some other menu items but the burger is why we went. Since new management has come in the burger is so obvisouly not the same and customer service is poor at best. Too bad because it used to be really great. This place was excellent 6 months ago. Since the total staff change happened and maybe management change also this place has gone way down hill. The food even tastes different and smaller portions. We've been loyal Daphne's fans since they opened on Sierra College Blvd. Unfortunately the company has chosen to relieve their two best assets from their duties (Jacob and now Paul). We have noticed the food quality has been deteriorating with the last few menu updates, but it was still a pleasure to go there because of Jacob and Paul. Now the place has poor food and NO customer service. Too bad because Jacob and Paul really knew how to take care of their customers! I usually don't write reviews on chain stores but I've been here a few times the last couple years and want to give my two cents. I always order the Gyro Plate with salad and rice. It feeds a couple of people and you can't go wrong if your in the mood for the greasy, salty Gyro meat. I like mine with extra Tzatziki sauce. It's only bad if they give you the little scraps instead of the long strips of meat. The salad is fresh and the rice has always been a nice pilaf texture. I've ordered the family meal before with the fire roasted vegetables and I wouldn't recommend them. I Love my veggies but these taste like frozen ones that have been charred; soft and mushy and not good. The french fries are almost always soggy by the time you get them home and they're not any better than the frozen ones from the grocery store so stick with the salad and rice; always a safe bet. The only reason I'm writing this is because they got my order wrong today. Not that they gave me something other than I ordered but that it differed from what the menu described it. I expect a chain restaurant to hold one of its signature items to a standard. I've never ordered one of their "original pita sandwiches" and thought I'd give them a try today because I like red onions. On the menu it's described as gyro meat in a pita with onion, lettuce, and tomato. What I got was a bunch of gyro meat in a hard, yet still soggy, pita with lettuce and a little of their tomato/cucumber salad. Luckily, I had ordered extra tzatziki with one of the meals because there was no sauce that came with it. We also tried the crispy shrimp that tasted overly fishy. Overall we paid almost $40 to feed 4 people and 2 left hungry. Not a good experience for a takeout. They also forgot to include napkins and plasticware in our order. Gf and I would regularly go here on a weekly basis back in 2009 - 2010, the manager and a couple of the servers were great. Price/food were both reasonable, decent portions, etc. That was back when it was "Daphne's Greek Cafe", back when there was murals on the walls and actual GREEK music in the background. As the years went on, it seemed like each time we went back, there were new workers/manager, mural gone, Greek music/replaced with trendy music, "artist of the month" pamphlets near the checkout like you'd see at Starbucks coffee, smaller portions, prices raised. That's the result of it becoming Daphne's "California" Greek cafe. The quality of the food is the same, the variety has changed. Certain things were certain things there that stood out, like their chicken pesto melt sandwiches, which for a time they would still make even though it's no longer on the menu. Now they don't. You have to spend twice as much to get the same "pita points". Again, the food isn't bad but it wasn't the same as it used to be. read more

I used to love this place, however I was beyond disappointed with the quality of the service. I went to have lunch with my daughter and niece on 12/31/2016, at 2:20 pm we walked through the doors. Since it was New Year's even they had a sign on the door saying that the hours of operations were between 11 am - 3 pm. After I ordered the food the cashier goes:" can you take it to go since we close in 35 min". ( I thought that was very rude to even ask, but I brushed it off). I said "no" since we lived 45 min away, and I have promised my niece and daughter that we will have a nice relaxing lunch together. We waited forever for our food, and then as we were rushing to finish eating, the owner (I assume it was the owner of the restaurant) says " we are closed in 10 minutes". Immediately after " the announcement"' they start putting all the chairs on top of the tables, and start mopping the floors, and couldn't wait for us to leave. I though that was so RUDE to treat customers like that, my 2 year old chocked on the food, because I kept telling her to hurry up. We couldn't finish because we were pretty much kicked out. I was livid, in my opinion if you do NOT want to be open, then close the restaurant and be done with it, but don't get the customer's money and treat them like that. If you are open until 3 PM you should provide service to all customers walking through the doors until that closing time, and allow them to eat their food, and start cleaning after the last customer exited the restaurant.. I will never go back here, neither will my family. I have planed that day ahead of time, and it just got ruined by a rude owner/manager. It will not happen again! read more

Today I ordered lunch for my family from Daphnes on Sierra College Blvd. The cashier was very polite and friendly and repeated my order to me correctly. The wait for my food seemed a bit long. When I got back home, one of my Mix & Match plates was missing an item. I ordered spanakopita and gyros, but received a small amount of gyros and no spanakopita. Sadly their spanakopita is my favorite. What I did receive was delicious but from now on I will have to physically look at each item before leaving the restaurant. read more

I was pretty upset when my local Daphne's closed as this was the location for my quick gyro fixes. I now work in Granite Bay and am just across the street from Daphne's. This could be a problem for me since I've already eaten here three times and have only been here for 3 weeks. Yikes. Anyways, the service was unexpected as I was greeted at the door and explained what the typical favorites were. I was already set and knew just what I was getting; Gyro, fries and rice HOORAY! I got back to work and realized they didn't give me utensils, but I wasn't going to let that stop me. Later I took the short survey from the receipt to get my free sides on the next visit and just made a slight mention that not having the utensils was a bummer. I got a call later that night offering me a make up lunch....What? Seriously? No need, but if you insist. I also got a follow up email from the company as well. I am a sucker for Greek food, even the quick, fast food version of it. I always order the Gyro, and love all the different hummus options. Definitely a nice break from all the burrito shops in the Sacramento area! Their salads are decent, although they are always heavy on the dressing and have more big chunks of iceberg lettuce than I would prefer, but the food is always fresh tasting and well prepared. What I love most about the Daphne's on Sierra College is the way they treat their customers. I have gone in many times with my 1 year old in my arms only to have them get the high chair, napkins, etc all set up for me before as soon as I set down my cup. They come over often - although not enough to be a burden - to check on us and are incredibly friendly. I love to see a restaurant that "gets it" - the food can get us in the door, but the quality of the overall experience is what keeps us coming back. read more

I love their food and always have but lately as in two times I'm the past couple of weeks I have had some of the worst service I have ever received in my entire life. I ordered a simple meal of pita breads and the dipping sauce because it is the best. I waited almost half an hour and then when I finally received my food there was no sauce being that I specifically asked for extra. When I realized their mistake I returned to the cashier and explained my concerns, she gave me my sauce but I did have to wait another of couple minutes. If it were just one time that this had happened I would have let it go yet this is my second time with the same exact problem. I not only had this problem but I witnessed another customer who ordered online get told that he was not in the system and after a while the cashier finally realized that he was and his order was not ready, considering he had ordered a while in advance this is another reason I am not happy with this locations quality. I probably will not be visiting this location in the near future because of the service I have received lately. I will gladly take my money and hunger elsewhere.
