Beware of Honda of Bowie! On December 26, 2013, Brenda, a Salesperson at Honda of Bowie, Maryland answered my internet inquiry. After a couple of conversations, Brenda, confirmed that the dealership had the vehicle we wanted in the two colors that we were considering: Polished Metallic and Black at the agreed pricing of $15,800 out the Door (OTD). She suggested that we come in that evening. My family and I arrived at the dealership close to 8:00pm. Brenda greeted us and asked us to wait while she went to get the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, Kevin (last name not given), approached us and asked if our reason for a manual transmission was related to the cost of the vehicle to which I said no. We waited for approximately 1/2 an hour before I decided to approach Brenda on the status of the vehicle. She said she was getting someone to get the car from the lot. She suggested that since it is a graveled lot that it was best for us to continue to wait in the waiting area. Reasonable enough, so we waited until past 9:00pm before I decided to approach Brenda again. She then explained that the dealership had no car for us, but if we came back the next day after 11:30am, they would have the car and beat the $15,800 OTD pricing. We were given a promissory handwritten note signed by a Sales Manager, named James. On December 27, we returned to the dealership shortly after 1pm. Brenda greeted us and asked us to wait. We waited for a 1/2 hour before we decided to approach Brenda (she was at her desk), she told us that she would be right with us. We waited for approximately another 15 minutes before she came to us and told us that they did not have the car. I asked to speak to the Sales Manager. After waiting for a 1/2 hour, no one came so I approached the Sales desk area and asked one of the Sales Managers, Cleo, if I could speak to the General Manager. He said the General Manager, would come to see us in the waiting area. In the meantime, a Sales manager by the name of Elliott introduced himself and said he had been assigned to find the vehicle for us. I allowed another 20 minutes to pass before I approached Cleo again. He said, he would come and speak to us personally in a minute. Unbeknownst to me, the gentlemen who was seated next to Cleo the entire time was apparently the General Manager, Malcolm. We continued to wait until finally Elliot returned and said that Malcom would like to speak to us. We were invited to Malcom's office, where he indicated that he had no idea that his sales team had promised the car; however, Brenda told us that Malcolm was well aware of our circumstances from the beginning. It seems as though Malcolm was not forthcoming and simply shifted the blame for the non-existence of the promised car to his sales team. With the confusion regarding each person's responsibility in the situation, I question the ethics and honesty of the Honda of Bowie Leadership team. At the conclusion of our meeting, Malcolm said he would search for the vehicle that was promised to us but that he could not make any guarantees, contradicting the promissory note written by Sales Manager, James. My family and I traveled an hour to and from the dealership to work with the sales team. After 2 days and hours spent waiting for a car that we later found out never existed in the first place I am deeply disappointed with our treatment at Honda of Bowie. Honda of Bowie efforts to honor its words is yet to be seen. In meantime, my advice to the readers, beware of Honda of Bowie dealership and its Sales team. I have written to Honda Customer service, I hope American Honda Motor Co. Inc. takes note of our experience and takes the necessary steps so that dealerships such Honda of Bowie does not continue its unprofessional and unethical practice. read more

Difficulty dealing with service manager. It took 1 month for Darcars to resolve an issue on a 2023 Honda CRV that had a warped Garnish (that the black covering between the doors windows) mine were on the drivers side. When my husband took the car in on 1 July 2025, the service manager said the car must have been in an accident, parked in a parking garage or near a metal pole somewhere and it warped from the sun! None of that happened, the car has never been in an accident. I never park in parking garages, and our car is parked on a tree lined lot not in direct sun. Also no metal pole signage in the area. After reading some reviews, apparently this is or was a manufacturing defect 2-3 years ago. So long story short the service manager said to call Client Relations, they were very helpful and said to have Darcars of Bowie submit pictures and they could resolve the issue in less than 2 weeks. I called Darcars on 2 July making the request that they send information to Honda Goodwill Relations. After many phone calls to Danny Funk (Service Department) , Gabriella (Service Manager) and Mr. Payam (General Manager) most of which were not returned after leaving detailed messages. Additionally Honda Client Relations sent emails to Darcars numerous times without getting responses. Finally on 21 July 2025 it was approved for Darcars to make the repair. It may be noted the cost of these Garnish L Front and Left R was $40.00, with Labor cost $200.00. When I received the call from Honda Client Goodwill Relations on 21 July, I immediately called Danny Funk and left a message requested service appointment for 29 July after we returned from vacation. Danny did not respond with a time for service appointment, so I called again on 25 July, actually spoke to Danny and he booked my appointment for 29 July at 9:30 am. I arrived at 9:00 checked in with Service Dept. and at 11:15 was told they didn't have the part! So finally today 1 August 2025, the part was installed in less than 2 hours! So my letter to the General Manager and to anyone was it worth it $240.00 to lose a long time Honda owner... not just this 2023 Honda CRV, with 12,000 miles, but our family currently owns 3 Honda's and at least 5 other style Honda's in the past. My advice stay away from Darcars Honda in Bowie Md. Poor customer service and very poor communication. read more

I came into the dealership to get a warranty repair completed and was impressed with the loaner car I had received and started toying with the idea of a new car. In the past, my experience had not been so great at Darcars but I remembered a few great individuals who saved the day, so I decided to check out what 2019's they had to offer. In my perusing, Mr. Milton Stiff came to the rescue. He was helpful without being overbearing or pushy. Due to having a 2018 Accord, I was pretty much aware of what the car had to offer and just really wanted a new car without having to pay more to have it. Mr. Stiff showed me a few different cars, but I was still attached to the same model I already had. So with the help of the awesome finance manager, Kerry Dillard, my wish to have a newer car was accomplished. This was my second opportunity working with Mr. Dillard and once again he made my experience with Darcars of Honda a joy. He added to the great care and concern I received from my salesperson, Milton Stiff. They were both very welcoming, professional, honest, straightforward, and friendly. I was able to get GAP insurance and additional coverage for my car without issue (a definite necessity when buying a car) and for a nominal cost when you look at how much an accident or damage to your car could cost you. The transaction was seamless and did not take much time to complete. I would definitely recommend coming into Darcars of Bowie to see Milton Stiff and Kerry Dillard when buying your next vehicle for an amazing car buying experience. read more

I wanted to give a heartfelt "Thank You" to Sarah and Stan. My mother was stranded in 90 degree heat, 100 miles from all family on June 21, 2018 at 5pm. She has a history of having a heat stroke. We were very concerned for her. I called the jeep dealership but because it was after 5pm, they would not look at her vehicle. I called Nissan and they would not look at her vehicle, as she drives a 2008 Jeep Liberty. Her brakes were locked up and sparking. She could not drive it to get home, or to go to my terminally sick Uncle's house. This trip is very important. My mother is going to visit him because we aren't really sure how much longer he is going to live. Sarah invited us to have the jeep looked at, had the service men do everything possible to diagnose the issue and ultimately helped my mother in every way, despite not being able to fix her brakes. She offered information to find a hotel so she would have a safe place for the night. She even provided a loaner vehicle for her to get there. She went above and beyond to help us and should be commended. The next day the jeep dealership wanted us to tow Mom's jeep across the parking lot for service. Stan was very helpful in getting the jeep over there without any extra expense to my retired, fixed income mother. We are so appreciative for all that was done for her. In today's day and age that speaks volumes about their character, and about DARCARS Honda's customer service values. Thank you so much for taking care of my family! read more

Normally when I buy a car, I will have done extensive research & preparation for months. However, I realized that I needed a car quickly. I looked online & found that DARCARS was open on Sunday. I submitted an online application Saturday night & Tony Gunter called me on Sunday afternoon. I came in & told both he & John Davis my needs & they produced 2 cars that fit the bill. They walked me through the process & took my information. Tony is extremely technologically savvy & explains every concept, along with Honda's role as a premier engineering company. This was very impressive; as it showed that he was knowledgeable & believed in the vehicle & company. John ran the numbers on my car & they were acceptable. The process was simple & they were not attempting to sell me anything just to achieve a sell. This is important to a person who is looking to make sensible buying decisions. I was there for 3 hrs, but could have been out in 2 had I been more decisive. I am happy with my purchase, as well as the maintenance perks that come with being in the Honda family. I'm looking forward to a long automotive relationship with my new, favorite neighborhood dealership. This is the best, short-notice decision that I've made in a long time. read more

We are in the middle of the Coronavirus and my grandson needed a car. He was very stressed about buying a car, since this was his first car purchase. I was stressed to be out of the house to guide him through the process. But today we had a stress free car purchase. I visited this dealership with my grandson to purchase his first car. We started the buying process online after viewing the car he was interested in buying. Brenda Bivins responded to our inquiry and we made an appointment to see and test drive the car. Brenda greeted us and introduced us to the salesperson, Elijah Chambers who was new. John Davis was assisting him. Elijah very thoroughly explained all of the features on the car. The finance person, Senyte, was fabulous. My grandson was "over the moon" with happiness at how easy it was to buy a car from Darcars Honda of Bowie. At the end of the purchase Brenda Bivins and John Davis checked to make sure we were happy. I have been a Lexus owner for the past 25 years and this dealership compares well with a Lexus dealership. My husband and I had an awesome experience this week at Darcars Bowie. I needed a car and was not sure exactly what I wanted. Upon arriving, we were greeted by several sales reps that were happy to service us. We were fortunate to be assisted by Freda who was VERY patient with us. She showed us several vehicles based on our frequently changing picky preferences and she never displayed frustration when we changed our minds. Freda and the manager, Glenn, took time to review vehicles within our targeted price range and treated us wonderfully. About a week after purchasing my used car, I noticed it drove a little funny compared to when I took it off the lot. I called the store and see if they could possibly take a look at it since I've only had it for a week. I came in the next day and talked to Glenn WIlliams, a sales manager. Even though I was in for service, Glenn helped big time. The issue that needed fixing wasn't on my warranty. Even without the warranty protection, Glenn still assisted me throughout my troubles. At first I wasn't so sure if I made the right decision on buying a car from Darcars Honda since I did have an issue within the first week of purchasing, but after talking to Glenn I quickly changed my mind because of his helping hand and his eagerness to get my problem fixed. read more

Hi, i'm really surprised at all the negative comments posted on this site re: Honda Bowie. I have purchased 6 (i think) Hondas from this dealership and have had nothing but good experiences. The service department takes care of all problems w/o issue and in a timely manner. Never had to stay over 2hrs. Only once have I been turned away from free car wash and It was because of the extreme cold. I stopped in one day because of inflation light and they put nitrogin in. Had to return next day for same issue and instead of just putting air in they put car on rack and discovered a nail had lodged in the tire causing the slow leak. Tire was repaired, no charge and I left happy camper. I will continue going to Honda Bowie. We love our Hondas :-). read more

The Service advisors, Marvin and Nicholas are great as is Jay (I believe he is one of their mechanics! I have been having some issues with my 2016 Honda Accord. I purchased it from Pohank Honda and has had every recommended maintenance and regular maintenance performed there up until about a month ago. The technicians at Pohana Honda are terrible as is the service manager. Marvin, Nicholas and Jay have been working with me regarding the issues I've been experiencing with my Honda accord; they are polite, knowledgeable and have been trouble shooting the issues. We know that every car is not perfect and I definitely purchased a new car with challenges but the good things that I now have professional individuals working on it. read more

My car salesman was Mr Ifiok, all I can say about him is that he's a GURU, he got me in the vehicle of my dreams. I'm a single mom of 2 boys that was in need of a car/SUV when I've been to at least 30 different dealership and have over 350 inquiries. No one would touch me without at least $8K for down Payment or Co-signer ( which we know that people don't trust other people). I had no hope of getting me a car. I was so desperate to even get one of those buy here, pay here.. I recently leased a new Odyssey from here and highly recommend them. From trading in my old lease early (leased from a different dealership), to negotiating a price on the new one, it was a very smooth experience. I am disappointed that I have to give even one -star, but the review won't continue if I don't select any. I am sooo glad I read the article on the "Sleezy Tactics & Practices" that this dealership has been busted on doing to "trusting customers" and that they are being forced to pay 3 to 5 million dollars for the story to fade away. I can't believe they are not sharing jail cells with each other. I am really glad to say that I, for one, would never give them the opportunity to fleece this Navy Retiree. Had a great experience at Honda of Bowie. We were able to get a great deal in spite of the chip shortage, and we love our new car! We worked with Jade and Ryan Kelly on the sale; both were knowledgeable and friendly and were able to answer all of our questions. The manager, Payam Marandloui, got us a great deal and the finance person, Senayet Begashaw, was personable and well versed in all of the warranty options and their intricacies.
