Made reservations for wine tasting at the barn because we knew it was going to be hot that day. When we parked and started walking in noticed there's a couple different buildings and maybe options for wine tasting. Not entirely sure. We found the barn closer to the back. Tha barn was on a neat location, it has a little patio area outside overlooking the vineyards. If it wasn't hot I would have stayed outside instead. The barn was cool, there were small tall tables and chairs and lounge are with sofas. We were asked what tasting flight we like to try and we went with the red and whites. We paired our tasting with cheese and chips. I laughed when they handed us the cheese which was a block of wrapped cheese and a bag of chips. I was fully thinking it was already prepared, cut cheese and a bowl of chips. I did not mind though. I would be happy to take cheese and chips home too. lol Wines were good. I have noticed in many wineries here in Livermore, the reds are lighter bodied and not as dry as the ones I had in Napa or Paso Robles. We also ended up taking a bottle home. Another great tasting experience at this winery today. We dropped in and were seated outside almost immediately even though they were short staffed initially and were served a really nice chilled sparkling wine to get us started. They do things a little differently and ask you to pick either the white or red wine flights (4 wines per tasting), or you can do the premium option for a little extra ( I believe it's $10 more than the regular flight). Anyway, we went with the reds and I have to say that even though the first wine was really good, it kept getting better with every pour. It wasn't too busy around noon though they did have a steady stream of visitors but they didn't let up on the service as additional servers showed up so we left very satisfied with the experience. As a side note, they have a dispensary on site which we dropped in to check out, having never been to one before. read more

I came to Darcie Kent Winery a few weeks ago and it was such delightful time and experience. The grounds are beautiful and so relaxing with a beautiful covered outdoor patio and plenty of seating. Seating area is surrounded by a beautiful lawn and looks like you could have a picnic and a stage for performances. We arrived and the server poured us a sparkling white wine of the Noir de Blanc grape that was absolutely delicious! This wine was one of the best sparkling wines I've ever tasted! We decided to get two mixed palate tastings that included both red and whites. For the whites, I tried their albariño, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc. Their sauvignon blanc is the best I've ever had hands down. I'm not a fan of sauvignon blanc but this was one that I could totally drink. It wasn't too acidic and had a perfect balance of crisp and sweetness. Their Rose also was and absolutely amazing wine. Again I usually dislike Rose wines but this one was not too dry and not too sweet and perfect harmony of flavors that was crisp and refreshing. The great thing about Darcie Kent is they allow outside food and also is kid friendly. I saw a group of ladies with an extravagant lunch spread having a lovely lunch and buying wines by the bottle to pair with their food. Definitely going to do that next time with my girl friends. I've loved coming to Darcie Kent for a number of occasions, including live theater. The wines, like most in Livermore, are good but overpriced. Still, in the setting of their porch, with the beautiful scenery and the nice breeze, how can you not buy a bottle? I HIGHLY recommend that they pay closer attention to their price displays. They have one page lists in acrylic displays, and when I thought I ordered a 2023 sparkling grüner veltliener that was listed, they gave me a 2021 for $15 more, which I only noticed as I was handed the iPad to sign. Stacey was very hospitable and provided excellent service during our stop at Darcie Kent Vineyards. Seating outdoors was on a first come first serve basis. We started with a tasting each prior to selecting a bottle to share. The pours seemed a little inconsistent and super small in comparison to other wineries. It was a little disappointing but Stacey brought over another fifth pour at the end of a different red wine to try which made up for it. The winery had a fridge which consisted of boxed charcuterie. It was reasonably priced but I wish I had more meats to choose from. We had a lot of spread and jams but didn't have enough crackers to eat them with. First I want to say the service and wine were fabulous. We love white wine and there were so many delicious choices. Unfortunately, my husband and I were looking for a romantic place to have a sandwich and bottle of wine. Definitely not this winery. The weather was so beautiful and was lovely being outside but starring at wine barrels that were blocking the wonderful view of the hills starting to turn green was not great. My friends and I went to Darcie Kent on a Friday morning. The winery had beautiful views of the neighboring vineyards, and the property even had a dispensary. The main tasting room was in a modern barnyard, which was also like a rustic art gallery. Actual paintings from Darcie Kent, as well as other paintings curated from local artists, hung all around the interior. They were certainly stunning and unique. We had a reservation for a tasting at 11am when it opened, and we were one of the first customers there. We were greeted by our lovely sommelier, who was just the sweetest. She was very knowledgeable and a good storyteller. What stood out to me was her explanation of the West vs East hill wines. We each did the mixed tasting, which included their seasonal whites and their reds. I'm not the biggest wine drinker, but I did enjoy what was offered. read more

Delicious wines and great service. I've been here twice this year (Feb and June) and both times were great. We walked in both visits. In Feb, we only ordered bottles to enjoy with our picnic. So this time, we had to try their tastings. I got to sit at different patio areas. We had no idea that there's two areas. We came during Juneteenth recently and it was busy around 3pm. At first there was only 1 male staff to help all the tables, but later came 2 other staffs to help out. Poor man was running around trying to make everyone happy. We didn't want to rush him too much but we had to go up to the bar when we waited too long for our 3rd pour. They have a white tasting right for $25 and a red for $30. Both flights come with 4 wines. They aren't stingy when they pour the tastings. But you need to buy e bottles to waive one tasting fee. It was better to join the membership to waive 4 tastings. Which we should've done. We only did 2 tastings and 1 bottle of sauvignon blanc. They were about to waive those. Last time we also enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc and this time it's still good. Most of the wines were good and bold. The restrooms were located in another building where the dispensary is across the parking lot. You need to walk across. Dog friendly. First, I'd like to say I love Darci Kent and have been a member for over 10 years, their wines never disappoint. My friend from CT knows this and decided to send me two bottles of wine for Christmas, because I wasn't home and the wine was sent back to the winery, not a big deal, and the wine manager, Kelsea, was kind enough to credit her back the delivery fee. So, I go to the winery tasting room 12/27 about 1:30, walked up the young gentleman and told him why I was there. He looked around his feet and said, sorry there is no wine here for you Okay, I said here is the order number and Kelsea told my friend I could pick it up here. At this point, an African American girl (I believe) looked it up and said my friend was credited, I said for the whole order? Yes. I said that can't be right. The gentleman said, your in the wrong place, there is no Kelsea, you need to go to Concannon. I felt brushed off, especially when I told him I know where I'm at, I've been a member here for years. Nonetheless, they were both less than helpful. I drove to Concannon and spoke with two nice welcoming young ladies, she looked up my order and said, "I see it let me talk to the wine manager and let me get you a glass of wine". The wine manager came out and apologized and said she would take care of my order and that Darcie Kent employees should know who Kelsea is as she's their wine manager. Darcie Kent tasing room employees need to learn from Concannon. Even if I wasn't a member, all customers need to be treated with respect and put some effort into checking into things rather than trying to blow off the customer. I was hosting an event and the heat was excessive. Their internet was down, so I was unable to reach anyone ahead of time. We were scheduled to be outdoors, but I wanted to move our group indoors given that it was over 100 degrees outside. They were accommodating and friendly. We shifted from a tasting menu to bottle service which was fine by us. We were grateful for the AC! Here are three of the wines we had--all delicious. Love the fact that this winery is all about the color purple, even the barn is purple. Family-owned, friendly, spacious, dog-friendly and non-pretentious with some award winning wines. You get to taste 6 wines for $20. Our wine tasting included the Cabernet Franc, which is kinda rare to find in our area. I really liked the Chardonnay, the Zinfandel and the Port from the wines we tasted. The weather was beautiful so we sat outdoors and were very well taken care of. There's no food onsite but they encourage you to bring your own if you want to. There were quite a few locals who seemed like regulars. They bought their bottle(s) of wine and sat there enjoying conversation. Also watched this one group of ladies setting up a table for a birthday celebration. I checked with the hostess and was told that you can reserve a table for $20, bring your own food and have yo option of either purchasing the wine bottles onsite or get the wine tasting. We're going to play it down the middle here, at best. Darcie Kent is a little bit of an off the highway drive to get to. The approach road can be high speed at times so be well aware of the turn off, your approaching and following traffic, and please use a signal. Once off the main road and close to the facility, parking is umm....barely there. There isn't much beyond single track spots, mostly along the departure lane. Be careful if wearing nice shoes as the gravel/rock parking might be unstable for high heels and the dirt/dust may not get along with your designer shoes. Once inside there was kind of a rushed/confused air. Maybe it was just the day we went but the staff, while nice, seemed a bit out of sync and hurried. Furniture was repeatedly moved around and sometimes it seemed people were too (it seemed). Hopefully things settle for them if that is the case. Lastly on this side of things, the pours are way too small. They use these auto-stoppers that shut off at one ounce per pour. Not enough. I'm sure such "discipline" pads the bottom line, but it wasn't enough to make me personally feel "whoo we're having a good time. And here's my debit card, put some of that good time in a bag for me to take home." How about the upside? Our server was very friendly with us, ready to chat a bit and give some history or answer questions. The art work inside is pretty cool. Some of it is commonly known techniques like oil, etc. but some is also some kind of high definition images on a metal backing - very vibrant and very cool. And the wines we sampled were varied enough to keep things interesting, and they themselves were tasty too. So, there you have it. We're playing it down the middle with Darcie Kent Vineyards. Maybe not the place you want to drive over an hour and a half to go to, but definitely worth consideration if you are nearby or going to be in the area anyway. read more

I am NOT a drinker! For my 34th anniversary I wanted to do something different so we went here for a tasting and let me tell you I do not drink, however these were the kindest people. Ian was my "server "'heck he knew when the grapes were picked ! His knowledge of the each different wine was extremely extensive he was affable and engaging! The entire setting is so laid back and they did not criticize me for having no knowledge of wine. I mean all around good people. Now sure if I would ever go wine tasting again, but if I do it will be here! They have ruined it for me going anywhere else! Made a reservation for four in their Wine Lounge (via phone) on a weekend and it was fantastic. The floor to ceiling views of their vines under the open blue sky provided the perfect setting to catch up with friends in. Service was super friendly and attentive, and what we loved was that they weren't super pushy about joining their wine club or anything. On this day, all the wines we tasted were from their Almost Famous label (the "younger, hip" label of the Darcie Kent brand). I honestly have no complaints about any of the wines we tried. We enjoyed Darcie Kent a lot! The tasting room is cutely decorated in purple and white, floor to ceiling and even out on the grass with purple lawn chairs. The atmosphere was welcoming, friendly, and very adorable! The wine was reasonable and tasted good, we purchased 3 bottles and were there for about 45 minutes tasting on a Sunday. We did find it strange that none of the Livermore wineries seem to give free tastings with the purchase of one or two bottles, it seems to typically be the purchase of a specific dollar amount (such as a free tasting with purchase of $100 in wine). We're members at Darcie Kent for 2 years now. Last time going there in August of 21. This place has the perfect location to get to from the Bay Area or the San Joaquin Valley. It's right off of Tesla Road in Livermore. The grounds have covered areas with tables. You can make a reservation to taste there, and they give you a table for about an hour, and I want to say 4 wines to taste. You can bring your own snacks, & food, water, etc. What I like about Darcie Kent wine is the bottles are personalized by the creators own art work, it gives you a more personal, small family like connection, not so much a corporate one. The owner has tons of artwork on the grounds, & some of these drawings are mass produced on labels and put on their bottles, super cool. read more

In fact, we loved it so much the first time that we became members. No monthly fees, every 3 months they have a free member release party that gives us the opportunity to try their new wines. We pick up our quarterly wine box and some times stay for the food pairings or continue on for a picnic in a park. On Sunday we asked if they had room for a tasting flight on the deck and they fit us in easily. Sampled both the reds (my wife) and the whites (me). Great service by Carolyn in the flight. A wine in short supply was the Cabernet Franc. Along with Zinfandel it's my favorite varietal . We sampled a 2013 and promptly purchased a bottle. I've been a member here for a few years now. While Livermore wines get a "bad wrap" from Napa, the folks at Darcie Kent do a really nice job at wines and at tasting. On this occasion I came by myself and had the attention not only of the staff who was pouring outside but even of their vintner (And that's amazing considering at the time of my tasting they were knee-deep into harvest). I could have easily knocked out two hours tasting and talking to these fine folk but had to cut things short. The wines vary in varietals and they are good wines. In my opinion, these are everyday drinking wines which can lay down for a for years but are best enjoyed now. Furthermore, Darcie Kent Vineyards throws many a wonderful party for their members and the price point for a bottle or a case of wine is spot on and won't break your bank!
