I've been to Bent Creek many times over the years, so this review is longoverdue. Bent Creek is one of the first places I think of when wine tasting in Livermore, due to their delicious wines. I always have wonderful service with such nice staff who love to share their love of wine with my friends and I. I feel like each visit, I learn something new! We typically sit outside and bring our own snacks. Bent Creek feels homey, with no fluff or frills and having to act like we know what we're doing. The highlight of each visit is probably introducing my friends to ports with chocolate and how it changes the flavor! It's a pleasure to visit, and I can't wait to come back. read more

I've been wine tasting at Bent Creek winery twice now. Last time I went, it was to sample the ports. Ports. Many wineries do not have a large selection of port wine, but Bent Creek does, and they are all excellent! Bent Creek winery is in an absolutely stunning location in Livermore valley. The tasting room staff are all experienced and are great at guiding you through the tastings. In addition, you are allowed to pick out a bagged snack that you can eat while you taste wine. Really lovely family owned winery - or at least that's what it feels like. You can come in your normal people clothes and they will be just as accommodating as if you came in your fancy clothes. The best part about this place is the hospitality, all of the staff we've met are so lovely to be around. Plenty of outdoor seating to bring your furry bestie, and best part about it is you can bring your own food! They have live music on Saturdays - super cool and relaxing winery to hang out one random weekend or to bring your friends for a special celebration. read more

If you're looking for great wine to taste in Livermore, you came to the right place! On a sunny Saturday in July, four of us set out to visit Livermore for their abundance of winning wines. The drive into Bent Creek Winery leads to a quaint lot. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed with wine! Specifically the 2022 Chardonnay, which we ended up having a bottle of at our umbrella table outside by the vines, enjoying live music by a talented singer. The patio offers ample covered outdoor seating. We loved the Chardonnay so much we ended up with a bottle of 2022 Sauvignon Blanc. Both were delicious and refreshing on a summer's day with the table snacks we brought with us. The staff at Bent Creek were all very friendly, and very helpful with answering questions about the winery. While I didn't stray far off to explore the property, I'm looking forward to visiting again to taste more of Bent Creek. read more

We usually go to Napa wineries and are members there. We never have heard of Livermore wineries. A friend who is a member to this winery brought us here. We were enjoying the ambience and service from Rex, Rex was great. The wine was just ok IMO. Rex brought a port we enjoyed. There was a band we were enjoying and it was a pretty day and a nice setting to be outside by the vineyard. Rex told us to take our time and enjoy our last tasting. About 20 minutes later an older man approached us looking upset. We think he may have been an owner of the winery. He said "we close at 4:30, we would like to leave." His demeanor and tone of voice made us very uncomfortable. He said, "the chair you are sitting on is private property, it does not belong here and needs to be returned." I said "I'm sorry, we did not realize the time, Rex told us to take our time and the chair was already here when we sat down, we did not put it there." He said, "it is 5pm, it's been a long day, we would like to leave." We all looked at each other in disbelief. What terrible customer service. Our friend is a member and that is how a member gets treated? I'm a direct person, I don't have a problem with being direct. But be direct with giving a person dignity and respect. Rudeness says a lot about one's character. Have you ever heard of this quote? ... "Rudeness is a weak man's imitation of strength. " The photo we took was before the older man asked us to leave. There was three groups still sitting and enjoying there wine, they were still there when we left. We've never had this terrible treatment/ service in Napa. Maybe that's why we've never heard of Livermore wineries. read more

You can't beat the price of $15 wine tasting. We were greeted with a welcome wine (1st one from the tasting). We made a reservation online. I apologized for being 10 minutes late but they said "it doesn't matter" (that we were late). The grounds are beautiful and we could sit where we wanted and chose next to the vineyard. We were given a basket to choose a snack and a water bottle. Service got better towards the end as the beginning felt a bit robotic. The flight included 1 white + 4 reds. She brought them out 1 at a time and then the 2 cabs together (different years). At this point, the lady asked us our favorite so far and I said I enjoyed the first one as I prefer white wines. She kindly offered to let me have more chardonnay for my last 2 tastings. I appreciated that. She offered a 6th pouring and said they were doing a Port that day. She brought us both a chocolate but I didn't have the Port. Hubby enjoyed the combination though You can bring your outside food. We did! Just make sure to bring napkins and stuff. Really enjoyed this winery! The people here are so, so friendly and the outdoor space is pleasant and welcoming. We had a group of 8 people, which was no problem for them -- they brought us to an area where we had a couple of seating options depending on how much sun/shade we wanted. A few people in our party did the wine tasting, which was reasonably priced. We were fans if the Cabernet Franc and ordered a bottle for the table (as well as a couple of bottles to-go). I love that they offer an assortment of snacks! They are also fine with folks bringing in food, so you can easily picnic here. We've stayed members since because we enjoy coming for the quarterly wine pick up parties and of course their wines are good (especially if you like zins)! Can't say enough good things about the staff and the winery. We were greeted in the reception area by staff who made us feel welcome. I was pleasantly surprised to see the place packed on a Friday around noon, do recommend making reservations. The tasting was casual, unassuming and the pours were generous. I liked the Cab and the Syrah. The staff is very friendly and offered complimentary snacks and also a dessert wine with some dark chocolate at the end of the tasting which was such a nice touch. Super friendly and welcoming service! My boyfriend and I came for wine tasting on our way home from visiting sequoia and kings canyon national park last weekend and this was a really nice way to wrap up the trip. We were greeted by a staff person right at the front and he instantly made us feel welcomed. The place provides complimentary snacks such as chips and cookies, and the tasting comes with a bonus dessert wine and chocolate at the end. We didn't realize the charm or we could have spent some more time here and not arrive 30 mins before they were about to close.... but they still did finish our pouring although it was 5 pm by the time we left.. so THANK YOU guys!! Some great wines but my favorites were probably the Ports here! We tasted three and we loved all three, not too sweet like most Port wines so definitely a winner for those who don't like sweet wines. I would recommend wearing practical shoes as some tables are on dirt and a slight hill. Also, when parking their lot is pretty small so it's best to park along to road when you see a spot. There are so many great things I could say about Bent Creek Winery! my best friend and I hadn't seen one another in months due to the going's on of life and planned a girl's day! We knew we wanted to wine taste and did a little research and landed on Bent Creek, which my mom really enjoys and suggested as well! We could not have picked a better place! Great winery with excellent wine tasting in Livermore. We really enjoyed their $15 wine tasting. You get to sample 5 of their popular wines and they also include their port wine in addition to the other tasting wines. They are popular for their port wine and we especially like their Cabernet Sauvignon. The staff are very friendly and they explained their wines in great detail. We even could walk around the winery and taste some graphs (it was the harvest season). The Syrah grapes were very sweet. They have plenty of outdoor seating. This was my very first visit to a winery and I'm so glad I chose this one. It's in a beautiful part of Livermore and there are a plethora of wineries to choose from in the immediate area. We came here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon with absolutely gorgeous weather (mid 70s). We immediately went into the tasting room and were warmly greeted by a host (or wine connoisseur - I'm not really sure what their titles were). We told her that it was our first time here and she recommended the wine flight where we could try all of their wines including the white, several reds including ports. She also took the time to explain the history of this particular winery and how the owners decided to do this as a retirement hobby. Through trial and error and some schooling, fast forward to today and their award winning wines. The host even had us try some of the grapes that were just about ripe enough for picking. After the flight of wine, we opted to split a bottle of the Red on Red while sitting outdoors enjoying the spectacular weather. We even took a bottle of the white home since it can't be found outside of CA. An absolute great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. So glad we stopped in. read more

I'm going to start off by saying the one star is -only- because of Rex. More on Rex later. My wife, some friends including a Bent Creek Winery member and I came Saturday for a tasting after visiting another winery a few minutes away. This is our first time going to Livermore wineries, normally it is Napa and nearby. Lets start from the beginning. Bent Creek is a few seconds off the main street and you immediately encounter snug parking circumstances, not the best winery for huge vehicles so just know that up front. We were greeted with what turned out to be the first glass of our visit. A cover band was present and playing, and because we didn't intentionally go to a concert but wanted to talk and enjoy each other, we sat far away - the band was pretty good, for the record. Unfortunately while I don't know the condition of the closer seating areas, far away can get a bit sketchy. The table we found open was on a slope and the ground was a little uneven too - the member almost fell out of her chair when the left rear leg dipped into a hole in the dirt (and no she wasn't tipsy, she is a lightweight and limits herself). Enter Rex, our server. Rex was great, simply put. Rex spent time answering all of our questions, getting to know us a little bit, revealing a little about himself, but not so much that he neglected other visitors. He even made sure that we got a chance to test the port a little bit when he found out some of us like port. Thanks to Rex, our experience so far was going to lean toward the positive. The wines we tried were ok, nothing earth shaking but ok. However into the picture comes an older gentleman that wasn't gentle at all. I was so dismayed by his behavior that I forgot to ask for a name. Closing time came. Rex gave us the last of what we were having, and told us to take our time so we did. About 20 minutes later an older man resembling what is listed here as the owner popped up. He was very blunt and rude. Now remember, there was at least two other tables of people sitting happily enjoying their conversations and wine and whatever. But we were bluntly told "we closed at 4:30 and it is 5p and we want to go home so you need to leave". I understood the sentiment and concept behind "I want to go home" but as the saying goes, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. This guy came spewing vinegar like a sprinkler system. I was actually ready to go anyway but because we were having fun I instead kept an eye on the other tables and was fully prepared to tell my group "we should leave too" but never got that chance. We started packing up. Meanwhile this man also complained that we were using a chair that belonged to private property and needed to be returned. Didn't ask any questions, no apologies for the gruff approach, nothing. So one of us apologized to him, told him we were leaving, and also that the chair was already at the table so we had nothing to do with some private property being there. All this man did was return back to "we're closed and we want to go home so you need to leave" and hover over us like we were children. At this point, if I was going to buy something to take home, it flew away like birds migrating away for the winter. So we apologized again and continued packing up. There are demographics at play here that I won't mention so as not to get flagged and removed, but suffice to say we didn't react to this blunt rudeness like some would have considering the location and clientele. It would have been vastly better for this man to say something along the lines of "hi folks, how was your experience? Yeah? Great! Well hate to be that person but we're x number of minutes past closing and need to put things away. Is there anything else we can do for you? No? Ok let me grab some of these glasses cause we've have a long day and its time for us to go." Bathrooms - the slight-walk-away bathroom appeared to be one person at a time. We had time for three people to use the bathroom one at a time, and other customers were still slowly sauntering away from the winery, showing no signs of having received a rude "invitation" to leave (remember I earlier said I was watching other still-occupied tables). Since we didn't get run out of the restrooms as well, we finished that up and left. Sadly what had been a very decent day almost had the rug snatched out from under it because of this one older man who chose nastiness instead of tact. Rex, we wish you all the happiness and success. Anyone who chooses to visit Bent Creek, I hope you get Rex. As for the older man, a learning experience hopefully. When you are the only game in town, maybe you can get away with being snotty. But when you are but one of many games in town, playing hardball may send you back to the dugout with all strikes. We personally have zero interest in returning to Bent Creek Winery after this guy's behavior. Time will tell if the member remains one, as they were pretty embarrassed by the behavior we experienced. read more

A super cute and quaint winery! For $10 per person, you will be able to taste 11 samplers (2 whites, 6 reds and 3 ports). Totally worth it. On top of that, during your visit this fee can be applied to the purchase of any bottle. Bent Creek is a small winery with a smaller tasting room, but the wine is fairly good. It's intense in flavor and definitely took me by surprise. I wasn't a big fan of their ports, but their whites and especially their reds were incredibly enjoyable. Of course it doesn't compare to Napa, but the wine itself being from Livermore is impressive. There is outdoor seating, both covered and uncovered, patio style. The atmosphere is laid back and casual, I felt like I was chilling in the backyard of someone's house (technically, I kind of was). Parking was a bit of a hassle as it was the weekend and it was crowded. Also, just a heads up that it's a gravel lot. One thing I absolutely did not like about Bent Creek was that there are no real restrooms (or at least when I was there). It was porta potties! So, make sure to bring some hand sanitizers! Bent Creek was my first stop in my wine tasting adventures in Livermore and they did not disappoint. Wine and atmosphere was good, and staff members were sweet! read more
