This is a lovely winery. The location is beautiful, with a large, comfortable patio. My adult son and I spent more than two hours hanging out, tasting good wines, nibbling on appetizers and learning about the wines through wonderful stories told by the host. This is a small, comfortable place, with a very homey and authentic feel, a welcome contrast to the very commercial feel of many others. We have always loved visiting Tenuta Winery, not just for their many amazing varital wines, two of which are our current favorites (Barbera and Tango blend)....but, Rich is the nicest host, sommelier, and trivia guru and historian of the winery's roots itself. Nancy, the founder, creator owner of Tenuta takes pride in offering her knowledge and teaches winemaking to the average wine connoisseur from beginners' growing techniques to harvesting mixing, crushing, aging and bottling. Her pizzas also add a yummy and complimentary food paring for a fair price. (Call ahead to see if they're serving pizza prior to ur visit.) Their reds are so so good and the atmosphere in and out is comfortable and relaxed either way. Inside a halfmoon shaped bar with iconic bar stools made out of wine barrel pieces add to the charm. The beautiful picture window of rows of grapes stretching out under the sun reminds you of an Italy scene in Tuscany. Outside there is a beautiful patio surrounded by sloping hills of grapes and many beautiful vistas for photo opps. Mainly, though, we remember and will return for the way we were treated, like "friends for life" the Tenuta Winery motto. Relaxing with good wine and good friends in a beautiful scenery.... We visited Tenuta Winery on Mother's Day as a group of 4 families, with 8 adults and 8 kids ranging from ages 5-14, and had the most special experience ever! Rich was an incredibly friendly and welcoming host who went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and having a great time. The back room was perfect for the kids to play, with a foosball table and movies that kept them entertained the entire visit. The food was fantastic -- the pizzas were absolutely fresh and delicious -- and the complimentary mimosas for the moms were such a thoughtful touch. The beer drinkers in our group also loved the beer flight. One of the highlights for the kids was getting to cork the bottles themselves, and we loved that they took a photo of all the moms and turned it into a custom bottle label for us to take home as a keepsake. It's rare to find a place that caters so well to both adults and children, and Tenuta Winery truly made our Mother's Day celebration unforgettable. The employees were friendly overall but when we first walked in, it took a couple minutes until someone greeted and helped us even though someone behind the bar looked at us. We had the reserve flights and unfortunately they weren't making our taste buds happy. They were overall really dry and tasted strongly of the oak. There were a lot of tannins. It's probably not surprising that there were a lot of residue at the bottom of our glasses and the wines were kind of cloudy. Some of them were also on the sour side like what Annie T. said. A lot of seating outside and a good amount of indoor seating. The seating inside feels like you are hanging out in someone's living room with couches around. Unfortunately we were there for over an hour and we were checked in on once. I wish I was told more history of the grapes used and the wines themselves. My boyfriend and I had an absolutely phenomenal time here. California wine is both an interesting and competitive scene. Above all, we (Californians) want to try excellent wine and aren't willing to compromise on this (at least I am not!). But it's refreshing when you can find that elite quality at a place that is very relaxed, comfortable, and like home. I am happy to say we found this at Tenuta. To call it a "hidden gem" is an understatement. I appreciated the very knowledgeable staff who understood the winemaking process and obviously made deliberate choices with their grape selections for their winemaking, and for our tastings. But again, in a completely relaxed way. It's clear everyone there loves what they do, and above all, have great wine to share with their patrons. Came here 1 hour before closing last Sunday. We were on the way back to LA from SF and the thought of seeing a vineyard came about. I don't remember the hosts name but he was a very friendly, accommodating gentleman. The establishment was clean and organized from the entrance to the bathrooms to the lounging area inside. The wines we sampled tasted, some great, some wasn't our cup of tea, but we all ended up getting glasses of what we wanted. And we even left with bottles to share with friends back home. Great quality wine especially because it's women owned and made! This is a very homey winery, due to the cold weather we were inside but the outdoor patio is beautiful! THE BEST winery I've been too I'm the Tri-Valley. We walked up and automatically saw how intimate the winery was. The venue was beautiful and the workers were so so kind. The Co-Owner was so nice and personable that the server thought we had came here before! Their motto is Give Us 30 Minutes and We'll be Friends for Life. Their motto is correct. They continuously acknowledged my little one and even came by with a stuffed teddy bear. The wine was spectacular. You have to try their Zinfandel!! They also do custom bottle labels on the spot. This one is hard for me to review because I love the vibe of this winery. The staff are friendly, the venue is gorgeous (it's more tucked away than some of the bigger wineries), and the outdoor patio seating is small, but quaint. Unfortunately the upgrades premium flight was...ummm, let's just say... not our favorite. I think we only liked one and the others tasted more vinegar-y, but maybe it was just a bad day. Tenuta....only one letter away from Tenuto, the name of my beloved cat. When my gorgeous California cousin was planning our itinerary, she found this gem of a winery that happens to have a name she knew I would find intriguing. That's how we ended up spending a sunny May afternoon enjoying the wine and the views and the food at The Tenuta Vineyards in the rolling hills of Livermore. Due to the COVID situation, an advance food order and a reservation were required. Knowing that we would have an indoor table and that our food decision was already made removed the anxiety of wondering whether or not we'd find a table and our desired pizza toppings. We were warmly greeted by Rich and his colleagues, all who kept the water and wine flowing -- the "Friends for Life" motto felt genuine! Our pulled pork pizza was tasty. And the reserve list wine tasting provided generous pours of 3 whites and 7 reds. There was plenty of food and wine to share. When one of the team heard us mention the sparkling wine that wasn't on our chosen flight, she politely offered a generous complimentary taste. Nice touch! If we were in more of a beer tasting mood, Tenuta also offers a few interesting beers on tap. Another nice touch! And $15 discount was offered to defray the cost of purchasing a bottle of wine....yet another nice touch! After our tasting and meal, we sauntered around the seating areas and tap room. The amazing collection of LPs in the tap room and the cat photos and references gave Tenuta a wonderfully homey and mellow vibe. My sweet Tenuto would have felt as comfortable and relaxed as I did! A small family owned winery in Livermore - you really feel like you're doing wine tasting in the family living room! Cozy, delicious wines, reasonably priced, and a positive experience overall. We came the day after Christmas and the family was just as kind and welcoming despite it being the holiday weekend. 5 wine flight for $10 and 10 wine flight for $20. Solid pours so you do really get to taste the actual wine and not wonder if you're tasting the glass and air like some of the "fancy" Napa/Sonoma wineries. It's a fairly low key environment, so great for friends, casual wine tasting, and conversation. Small, sweet place.. Parking is difficult and limited. There are plenty of choices and the best thing is they also have beer in case you're not a wine person. Me and my best friend decided to go last minute and Rich was the only one working and let us decided where we wanted to sit. After we picked a spot he let us know that after 30 mins of being there that we would be friends for life. Which is a nice motto. Tried the $25 reserve tasting and the 10 wine selection for $10 I believe. The wines here are definitely unique in color and in taste. I have never been to a winery like this before where their reds look more like port wines. The service from rich was good until more people came in and he forgot my last 3 pours, but it's okay as he got to them after a reminder. Would I go back? Well this will be an odd winery revue, because I'm a beer drinker....which is why I was thrilled to discover they have a beer tasting room, "Breaking Beer". Took the Livermore Wine Trolley tour with a large family group. I'm a beer drinker, but hey, it's was all about hanging out with the family. To my surprise, they have a beer tasting room. I cannot explain how great the atmosphere that Rich and his staff create here. They did such a great job taking care of my big party. The wines, of course, were fantastic and there are even options for beer flights! I was so glad to hear that they had beer as well because not everyone in the party enjoys wine as much as beer. The first time I spent a half hour here, I was busy trying to keep my friends upright and stable. The co-owner greeted us outside and set us up in our own area with couches and sports on the big screen. They were so patient and kind to our rowdy crew, I vowed to return and give them proper business. So, for my birthday this was my first, and ended up being my only stop. In my mind, when I think Livermore wines, I immediately go to zinfandel. Some of my all-time favorite wines are zins and this area knows how to do it better than anywhere else I have been able to find. What I didn't expect, when I rolled up at 12:30 on a Saturday was a nearly empty tasting room and a Merlot that made me pick my jaw up off of the counter. I have no idea why this place is not packed. It's a wonderful undiscovered gem in the valley. The owners are like family, and the wines are unbelievable. I couldn't find a wine I didn't enjoy. A female vintner? Yes, and she knows what she is doing. I bought a case of futures, became a member, and got to work my own bottle of zinfandel right out of the barrel. The Aria white is wonderful and more than affordable. The owner promising to call me in a Darth Vader voice when the futures are ready = priceless. I haven't even gotten into the tap room aspect, or the awesome music. You can make requests and he will play it if he has it, and he has a huge playlist. My husband enjoyed a flight of brews. Their taps rotate, so there's always a reason to stop by. I know they say friends for life, I say I am a fan for life too. read more

We came on Valentine's Day, a busy day amongst most and even though they had a full house, Anthony and Rich made it a point to get us what we asked for within reason. I absolutely love coming here. This is my go to winery that I can show up as dressed up or dressed down as I want. The owners are super friendly and have the coolest stories to share. It literally feels like little Tuscany. You do have to make an appt and text ahead for food (the pizza is bomb!). Its super easy to do and definitely worth it. The vibe is very chill and relaxing. I love that they serve both beer and wine. If you sit inside the owner with play music, as he was a former DJ, and will play whatever song or genre of music you request. One of the greatest wineries I have been to. It is small and quaint on a much higher level on the mountain. The views are awesome, the sitting areas are great. We had a small company party there on a friday afternoon and it was so awesome. Every single person in our team loved it and plan to come back and visit more often. Really pains me to give a less-than stellar review to a place with such top-knotch customer service. If this review was based on customer service alone, it would have easily been a 5/5. But a major problem: This is a winery, and the wine was not good. SERVICE (5/5) Everyone is genuinely friendly and happy to help you! There was a couple near us who had just got engaged, and all the staff made a huge deal, played a special song for them, gave them bubbly etc. I loved it! PRICE (5/5) Very reasonably priced tastings. 10 tastings for $10? Hell ya! You really can't find a better deal. We excitedly purchased two of those.. but did not get through all 10 tastings because... WINE (1.5/5) I seriously hate to be so critical. The staff was lovely, the ambiance awesome, the winemaker is female, and even some of the proceeds of certain bottles went straight to Breast Cancer Research!! Like seriously, I wanted to love this place! But the wine tasted so.. unrefined. Out of the 7 or so we were able to try.... only the "Blush" Pinot Grigio was good. Most wine fell in the spectrum of bearable to not safe for consumption. Stay away from the "Barrel" Cabernet (it came from a barrel but they served it from a plastic juice container... I should have taken that as a warning). OVERALL (2.5/5): If you are not a big wino and/or if you are intimidated by the wineries in Napa and Sonoma this might be a good place to start. Likes how the wine flights are set up where you get to choose your own tastings from a long list. I very much enjoyed most of the wine that I tasted. This was our second stop on the Livermore Wine Trolley. This is a cool place, and Rich could not have been more welcoming! I hate to say this, but the wine wasn't greatest. However, the 2014 Chardonnay was a solid wine and they will even put your picture on it to make it specialized. The saying is, "Give us 30 minutes, and we will be friends for life." And I believe it!
