Great service. Fun old school diner! I recommend stopping for breakfast if you're in Grand Forks

OMG, what great food and outstanding service. The folks there are friendly and patient while I decided on what to order. The hamburgers I saw being served to other customers looked huge and delicious, definitely not anything close to the typical, skimpy, fast food burgers. I ordered an omelet with hash browns and the cinnamon pancakes which were prepared and cooked to perfection. The omelet was filled with fresh ingredients and the pancakes were so light and scrumptious. Highly recommend Darcy's! They open at 6 so I can understand why they close at 2pm. read more

My husband & I get to travel to lots of great places and I often turn to Yelp for local recommendations for restaurants. Darcy's Cafe did not disappoint. The cinnamon roll pancake was more wonderful than the photos even suggest. Tasted very freshly made & not at all oily like decadent pancakes can sometimes be. The hash browns also perfectly tender inside and crispy outside- another item I am always pretty picky about. These were perfection! Don't get me started on the coffee mug: huge, kept the coffee warm until the end and really cute! My husbands omelet was perfectly prepared with lots of ham & cheese inside. My poached eggs were also well prepared- that's not an easy task. I highly recommend and if Darcy is interested in expanding, she'd do well in TN! Come on! read more

Small, crowded little diner with limited parking. Service was a little slow even though you can't get that many people in there.

A very (and I mean VERY) small local establishment. However, if you have the time and flexibility to wait... the food is INCREDIBLE! The Cinnamon roll pancakes are worth the wait. (See picture). The coffee cups are huge (see picture). The wait staff was very friendly and helpful and service was quick. They don't want you to linger after eating (because they need to free up tables for the waiting customers). There is not a waiting area (they ask you to wait in your car or outside). I wouldn't recommend taking a large group. We were a party of 3 and it was the perfect breakfast/lunch spot. read more

Darcy's solid cooking skills, yes they can cook but the price they charge reflects that. Be ready to drop some coin when your there because it's worth it. Call ahead for a seat because people love this place. It's small but it's the only really diner around. Come hungry because they are going to fill that belly. For breakfast and lunch this is the ONLY place I would go! Food is spectacular.....always hot and delicious ...coffee is in front of you as your butt hits the stool! The place, thanks to its GREAT food, my favorites are pacakes,sunnyside eggs, sausage smothered in syrup,and service is always, on it's game under the owner, Michelle's watchful eye. The only negative thing I can think of is that there may be a wait during peak hours to get in. The place with its hustle, bustle and exceptional food and service reminds me of the very best of the 50's/ 60's diners I'm fond of frequenting. Proudly wear my Darcy's cap. read more

After reading quite a few glowing reviews of this place, the wife and I decided to go here the next time we were passing through Grand Forks. Yesterday was that day, so we decided to forego breakfast so we could enjoy a meal at this place! N Washington is under construction this summer, just so you are aware! We pulled into the parking lot, and it was full; a good sign. We had our dog with us, so we were planning on getting our food to-go. I walked up to their carry-out window, and waited as quite a few people walked past the window (they looked busy). Finally, a very nice lady opened the window, took my order, and informed me that it would be 40 minutes. 40 minutes?! I figured that if we had planned on eating there it would have been at least that long before we would have gotten our food, as there was a 15-20 minute wait just to be seated. I said that was fine, and walked back to our car. Instead of waiting in our car we just drove around for a bit, and stopped at a nearby gas station to top off the tank and get some road snacks. We went back 40 minutes later, and our food was ready to go! I paid for our meals, thanked the lady who had helped me, and we went to a nearby park to eat our food. My wife got their Corned Beef Hash w/ Cinnamon Roll Pancakes (my breakfast for the next day), and I went with the Berlin Omelet (German sausage, sauerkraut, onions and Swiss cheese). I ate all of my food, and my wife ate about half of hers; I ended up eating the rest of hers, along with the pancakes, the next day. The food was good, but not great; although I did need to add ketchup to the corned beef hash to make it edible. I ate maybe three bites of the hash browns; just not good. I had American fries with my omelet, and I honestly don't recall any seasoning on them at all; nothing special. The Cinnamon Roll Pancakes were decent, but the way people had raved about them online you'd think they were something to write home about; they weren't. Overall, I'd say Darcy's Cafe is just an ok place; certainly not worth a 40-minute wait, but at least the staff is friendly, and you really can't put a price on that! read more

Family atmosphere, friendly staff and patrons, food of highest quality for both bfast and lunch, nothing more is needed. From the omelettes and sandwiches to the absolutely-must-try cinnamon pancakes (and no, you don't need that syrup!) it's a place where you feel at home even if you're not a local. The place is small ("intimate") but easy to get in and out...and you can call in your order if you want for pick up (but then you miss out on the truly sincere atmosphere). Darcy is a pleasure to talk to, has so many experiences and knowledge about the area, and is generally one of the most endearing people one can ever meet. We are visiting in town and we came here for breakfast. Corned beef hash was great and pancakes too. Pretty good spot.

We visited on a Saturday morning. The parking lot was full! We got lucky enough to get immediate seating when we walked in. After us the wait started growing pretty quick. The food was great! Best breakfast out I've had in a very long time. Service was great. We waited a little bit for our order but for as busy as the joint was it was reasonable. If I'm lucky enough to visit again this is a place I'm sure to visit!! You should too, you won't be disappointed. read more

Comfy small building. Not the friendliest of staff but pleasant enough. Food was a disappointment. Evidently the cook does not know how to make scrambled eggs. Seemed like the eggs were from a mix. Bacon was think and well cooked ( a big plus). read more

A rare find - eggs and burgers both cooked "medium," properly. Tasty breakfast, exceptionally friendly service. No masks but lots of attention to keeping distant and sanitizing. The few booths have dividers but during busy times would be hard to be distant from other diners. read more

Wow where do I begin. Great food great service (I have had the owner both trips in) at a reasonable price. We had pumpkin pancakes with chocolate chips and icing ( my daughter thought they where sweet enough without maple syrup ). She said melt in your mouth delicious. Wife had the corn beef hash, toast , hash browns and hot chocolate. I had the chicken fried steak, breaded and seasoned, with gravy , wheat toast, 2 eggs and golden hash browns. Crunchy outside with smooth rich gravy. We started with a nummy pecan Carmel roll soft warm melt in your mouth. You are not going home hungry. read more

This was everything that a good breakfast diner should be to me. Don't expect fancy because it's a dive. I do not mean that in a bad way. It is also a very tiny place with a tiny three sided counter and a few tables. I ordered corn beef hash and eggs. I told the woman working there, who turned out to be the owner, that it was extremely good, and I order it regularly and I've had a lot of different ways on the road in different places. Lots of ways to do it. She then went on to tell me that the corn beef is cooked for something like 24 hours and then sits for another 12 hours and gets all the special preparation and then is put through a grinder. Everything is made fresh. The person next to me got chicken fried chicken and gravy. It was not only a gigantic portion but he repeatedly said how good it was and the owner explained how they make that from scratch to. She said all the soups are homemade also. I may have been the only one in there who is not a local, as the owner seemed to literally know every person and their family. I'm sorry I am leaving so I can't go back again tomorrow! The exterior is rather non-descript but that all changes when you eat the food! My husband had the bacon deluxe omelette which he said was delicious. I had the cinnamon roll pancake and it was humongous and SO GOOD! The bacon was extremely good as well. I love diners, and was excited to visit Darcy's while in Grand Forks. The place is small, the staff were friendly, and the food was great. I went for the spicy meatloaf sandwich (and uploaded pics) since meatloaf was their special that day, along with a bowl of the tomato soup. Amazing breakfasts. The skillet meals are plenty of food there to be some leftovers. French toast also was a large portion and delicious. Expect to wait for a table, but the staff is friendly and hustles. Nice mix of customers between college kids and local hard working blue collar families. We will be back several times. read more

We've always enjoyed the food and customer service, the food is definitely worth the stop in. But today our group of 4 got a young lady that wasn't friendly or welcoming at all, it was almost like she didn't ant us there.
