Diana is a wonderful server with impeccably bubbly and friendly personality. When I was waiting for some acquaintances to come in (who no later learned they were coming tomorrow due to the weather), diana suggested a caramel roll while I waited since they didn't have appetizers. Oh my gosh was it a large roll. It tasted wonderful and it was not heavy, but airy and fluffy. It was to the point I ended up eating the whole thing when I didn't think it was possible. And it didn't ruin my appetite for my lunch, which was liver and onions. Sadly, most of it was undercooked, but what small piece that was cooked through tasted amazing. Food was not even ok and service was terrible. The food was over cooked and hard pancakes and just egg on the French toast no cinnamon. Waitress never checked on us. The bathroom is gross and with a space heater in it. No class at the register either. Won't be back anytime soon read more

My fiancé and I loved our experience here. It's a very homey family diner. The food quality to cost ratio is very favorable that far exceeds anything you can get at any ihop or Denny's. The service was great and polite. It's a popular local joint, as such the staff have their hands full and will not be doting on you. You get your food in a reasonable time, and you get a sizeable portion for what you pay for. I ordered a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie--which was delicious, I might add--to go after ogling it during breakfast, and the waitress made it a point to make sure I got a fresh slice instead of something from the display. The place has a retro feel to it, but I think it's quite fitting for the diner experience. Overall, we hope to be regulars here. read more

Been here twice and these biscuits and gravy are on point!!!! So good. Favorite place to grab breakfast, it's just my "spot" to go to, Big Dog Breakfast, is always my go to, the French toast is perfect every time. And unlimited, how could you not love that?! Also I've had their omelets and they are pretty dang tasty as well! read more

I was a bit skeptical going in here since I've been here for 9 years and never ventured in, but it was totally unfounded. Walking in, it's like you stepped back in time to a diner from years past (I made the comment to my girlfriend that it feels like we are in that diner in the movie Goodfellas lol). But was seated quickly on a busy Saturday morning. Waitresses we're running around moving fast, definitely trying their hardest to serve all of their tables. Then we got our food which took about 10 minutes from order to table. The food was excellent! I don't know how to explain it, but it's delicious, like something home cooked but better with lots of flavor. All in all, it's a new go to place for breakfast. I love old school looks/feel to the place and the food is worth it and it's cheaper than Denny's or Ihop. I totally say go and check it out if you haven't. read more

In all fairness the place was slammed, however there is no reason you should have to wait an hour for a French toast breakfast. The waitress was apologising to some tables that arrived 20 min. after we had ordered and even offered free hot rolls to them. Not us. We were just on the point of getting up to leave when our food arrived. It looked good. It smelled good. It was cold! Cold French toast, cold eggs, cold hash browns. At least the coffee was hot. I've been in the service, I've eaten plenty of cold food but I don't have to like it. I didn't want to send it back, we were starved. We ate it. Then waited for the check. Screw this let's go to the till. I complained there and the girl just rings up the bill! Hold on, I shouldn't have to pay for this. She goes to the manager and comes back with half price. I was looking for a place to grab a bite to eat while in Grand Forks and thanks to Yelp, found this place and decided to give it a try. As it was towards the end of the lunch crowd, there were not many people there, but that did not discourage me. I got in and was served right away and decided on my usual brunch fare...an omelet. This time I got a cheese and mushroom omelet which was served with hashbrowns and the choice of toast or pancakes (I got the toast with this). All in all it was a good meal...the cheese was nice and melted and the hashbrowns were tasty. I would come back as it was a good meal and about average prices. read more

No chance of returning. The coffee was stale and tasted like it had been reused. The wait time was a little long for only two orders, especially with them being the same order, the farmer's breakfast. The poached eggs were sitting on a pool of water and the third bite gave a rough crunch of egg shells. The hash browns were burnt all around the edges and looked like they were cooked with a hair straightener. The pancakes were dense and difficult to cut. The wait staff were friendly and prompt but they need new kitchen staff desperately. Good thing they're so close to Wendy's because we left hungry. Would not recommend to anyone I care about. read more

I'm not sure where the previous reviewer saw the huge menu. It's one side breakfast and one side lunch. The place hasn't been remodeled since the 80s but that's not necessarily bad. Gramma Butterwick's has super hard working and friendly waitresses. Clean and nice plants in the back room. I had the Farmers Hash browns with eggs and pancakes. Definitely would order this again! The German sausage was fun to try. Really good! We will definitely come back when visiting Grand Forks. read more

The best way to describe "G Butts" is back-up plan. If Darcy's is packed, this is not a bad option. If you looked up average breakfast restaurant images online, you'd be seeing G butts. It's like that friend who isn't very interesting but is always willing to hang out and help you deal with your problems, or in this case, hangover. The service is decent and they usually pump out food quickly. As I alluded to before, the food is interchangeable with any other breakfast diner. I'd recommend coming here after a night out drinking to stave off the morning blues. The big dog breakfast is a once around the kitchen with unlimited pancakes or French toast. Buyer beware: they do not have chocolate chips for pancakes and their coffee is reminiscent of the free coffee you'd find at a grocery store read more

In fairness I have only eaten breakfast here. Very good breakfast and the service was out standing. The eggs were cooked to perfection and the locals add to the nice home atmosphere. Ate there for the first and last time today. The service was terrible, the food was meh, the bacon was so overcooked it was was hard and crumbly. When we walked in and didn't even get a "Hello" or "I'll be with you in just a minute" we should have turned around and left, not to mention the dirty looks of disdain that someone may actually have to do a job they are paid for. I paid $2 for a small juice sized cup of fountain pop that I had to ask to have refilled 10 minutes after it was empty (the first time I was able to get the waitress's attention since she served it). If you like mediocre (at best) food and bad, crabby servers this is the place for you. read more
