My family has loved Dari-Lea for decades! I was craving a greasy mom and pop burger this week and I hit them up knowing they're a sure thing... Well not anymore. My burger was dry and over cooked. The bun was toasted until it was no longer edible. The taquitos were rubbery and the fries awful. Worst part?? I paid more than $40 for that disappointment. I won't be going back. read more

Service was friendly and efficient for lunch here today. We both ordered bacon cheeseburgers and fries. The crinkle cut fries were good and hot and tasty. The burgers came with EVERYTHING on them, including all manner of things that we didn't want. If the restaurant would disclose what comes on their food, it would make it MUCH better for customers who just wanted a simple well-made burger rather than one smothered in everything under the sun. read more

First time ordering and placed an order for pick up. Order food, called right back because I wanted to change the waffle fries to crinkle fries. The lady that took the order was very friendly and nice. When I called back the second time, a guy answered. I told him I wanted to change the fries to crinkle fries. He stated I couldn't because the waffle fries were dropped down. He said I would have to order another order of fries. He rather me cancel my order then change the waffle fries to crinkle fries. So canceled the order. Never will I order from there or recommend. read more

A little out of the way from the "main" street (Canal), this little drive in is worth the trip. It's small but packs a punch. We had the small hamburger with crinkle cut fries and the chicken strip basket, which inexplicably came with two delicious onion rings. I also enjoyed a chocolate shake which was thick and tasty. We brought our dog and sat at the little picnic table, but other than that there is no seating. We waited about 15 minutes for our food. They also serve pickle flavored snowcones - we decided we weren't brave enough for them. read more

Stopped in after a day at Carlsbad Caverns. I had seen it Sunday coming in, but it was closed. Parked my truck, and walked up to the side window. A nice blonde lady asked what she could get me. I didn't quite know what I wanted, and the posted menu had a corner missing, so I walked around to the front window. Finally decided what I wanted, and the same nice lady took my order. I ordered a green chile meat and cheese burrito, small fries, and a regular (small) banana shake. She said she didn't have bananas, buy she did have strawberries, so I said fine, let's go with strawberry. She said it would be about 5 to 10 minutes. As I was waiting, some guy comes out and asked me to move my truck, because it was blocking the drive thru, although, frankly, anyone who could drive could have got around my truck. And no one came through that particular entrance the entire 20 minutes or so I was there. Someone did however, come and PARK in the other drive thru, and got out and had a conversation with the guy who asked me to move my truck lol! Um, but he so placed an order, so all good, I guess. Alright, so now my order is ready, and some other lady says 'Sir, your order is ready '. Now note, I am most assuredly NOT a sir. I'm not flat chested, in fact, have a sizable rack. I call this to her attention, and somewhat annoyed ask what it is with people in this region, and whether they have anatomy classes here. Now the food, which is why I stopped. Green chile burrito, yum. Green salsa served with it, super yum. Fries were of the frozen variety, but you still can't go wrong with fried taters of some sort. The shake was bomb! And although I had ordered a regular, I got and was charged for a large. No biggie since it was so good. The food was on point, and I like to support small businesses. Just be aware if you're not sporting the traditional female accoutrements and garb, even if you have boobs and a FEMALE face, you're gonna get called sir in some parts of TX, and this place in Carlsbad, which is close enough to be TX, lol!
