Comfortable restaurant/bar. Hands down the best restaurant/food/service that we experienced while in Carlsbad. The place was packed but we were sat quickly. Casey (Kass) provided excellent service. I had the cowboy wedge salad which was a large portion and yummy. My guest had the Sky Burger & Mashed Potatos. Great service, large, tasty portions and affordable (2 meals, 2 soft drinks

Went to walk around Carlsbad Caverns, and ate dinner at the Lucky Bull Grill, which was over a 4-star rating. Lots of people here had to wait several minutes for a table. Gave the guy my name, and he said it will be about 10 to 15 minutes. Waited over 15 minutes, walked up to him, and inquired about a table. He looked, and there were 3 tables available. We were then seated. This Host is in over his head. Ordered our drinks, looked over the menu. Decided to try their Caribbean Jerk Chicken, Grilled Half Chicken glazed with sweet & spicy sauce. Served on a bed of Cilantro Lime Rice, garnished with Creamy Cole Slaw. Wife ordered a dinner salad. Food was served, and the Chicken looked pretty good. It was very dry, but it did have somewhat of a spiciness to it. It was not served on a bed of Cilantro Lime Rice. The Rice was off to the side and completely tasteless and dry. The Creamy Cole Slaw was nothing but shredded cabbage, nothing creamy about this at all - just dry. Looks like most of the crowd here ordered off the Burger list. They do look good, but that Jerk Chicken was not the way Jerk Chicken should be. My wife liked her House Salad, but that's easy to make. Should have ordered one of their Burgers.

One Heck of find In Carlsbad....Short wait to be seated, super friendly waitress...Place was once The Old City Hall...many moons ago I assume...Clean and had some cool decor....we started with the Pecos Valley Poutine....a Literal Mountain of fries with brown gravy, Bacon, Green Chiles and mounds of cheddar....an appetite destroyer is what it should be called...So good and hard to stop eating...Wife went with the Bee Bee Que Chicken sandwich...Breaded and fried...Even with all the topping it held its crunch...Had mashers on the side...kind of plain jain compared to everything else....I went big with the El Jefe...double meat, Cheese, Chiles and all the topping....Messy and Oh so Delicious...I can say Green Chiles taste way different in NM than TX....and definitely a fan.....I went with the Green Chile Grits...unique and super tasty all day. Overall a fun and great visit.

Dined in after a long roadtrip; we had such a fulfilling meal, and the vibes altogether were amazing. We had to wait just a few minutes for a table. Service was great. The water was pleasantly really really good. Very crisp and fresh. All my friends ordered a burger, and they thoroughly enjoyed it. The patties were thick and juicy. I opted for the cowboy salad since I wasn't too hungry, but it still hit the spot - hearty and healthy. Highly recommend checking this spot out!

This was a packed little spot in Carlsbad that had a neat dive bar kind of feel to it. Despite the lunch rush, the service was great and the food got out quickly. The Chips and Green Chile Queso was fine, the queso could have definitely used more green chile but the chips were good. The Burger w/ Green Chiles and Egg was very overcooked, though (well-done instead of medium) and the bacon on it had been burned. I would chalk this place up as a bar with decent food, which given the size of the town isn't a terrible thing to be!

OVERALL Lucky Bull Grill is a laidback family-friendly option for lunch or dinner in the old city hall building in Carlsbad, New Mexico. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 4 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 4 PARKING The nearby bank consumes most of the parking spaces. Otherwise there are a few spots next to the restaurant plus street parking within walking distance. LOCATION/AMBIANCE I chose this place for my late birthday dinner with my parents & my daughters on June 15, 2024. I loved how they transformed the old city hall building into this restaurant with a full bar. The bar sits on the opposite end of the hostess's podium. Restrooms were to the right when we first walked in. THE GRUB - the fruit punch with vodka was just okay + Cowboy wedge salad ($14.50) comes with a 5 oz. steak. So good! LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB Yes. There was a good kid's menu! SERVICE Friendly. Multiple staff members told me "good choice" on my lunch pick. They had old drink menus, though. Please update them. MY FAVORITE PART... The salad I chose. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The rude little girl who pushed her way past us to & from the restroom while we waited for our table to be set up. Her mom was nice, but I wanted to trip her kid. Lol. TIP Hang your kid's "bull" artwork up in the restaurant!

Handful of burger options. Meal didn't knock your socks off but it also wasn't bad. Waitress was wonderful. Prices were reasonable.

Typical bar food. Interesting location inside of the old city hall. The service was good. Our food, burgers and fries, were also good.

At first I thought it was whipped cream as you can tell by the picture. As my appetizer I chose the jalapeño soup. I have to say that it was amazing even if it had no real substance to it other than cream of something and jalapeños. I think potatoes would be a nice addition to this soup. For dinner I chose the 8oz filet and I added blue cheese crumbles to the top slightly melted. The steak was cooked perfect and the flavor was nice. The veggies along with it were cooked well with minimal butter which I prefer. My waitress was perfect. She came around just enough and not to much. Nothing bothers me more than to come around so much that I can't enjoy my food. I'm a happy medium kind of guy when it comes to that and she did a great job balancing her other customers and I. Over all my experience was wonderful. I will definitely be dining her again before I leave town.

The waitress who served us was wonderful, friendly, attentive, and incredibly kind to our dog. Prices were very reasonable and the portions were generous. The only negative part of the evening had nothing to do with the restaurant. A man seated next to us spent much of dinner being rude and entitled, repeatedly questioning how the salmon was prepared, criticizing the wine list, and generally acting unpleasant toward the staff. The blonde waitress with glasses handled the situation with impressive patience and professionalism. Honestly, it took restraint not to say something myself. She did a fantastic job dealing with a very difficult customer and deserves recognition for it.

They marched us straight to some random back room that looked filthy and forgotten. Dirty walls, dead flies sitting on the window sills, dusty air vents directly over our table, worn-out floors and furniture... the whole place felt grimy. On the way to our table we were also walked past a nasty smelling dishwashing area, which really set the tone for the experience. Now the food. The kids got chicken fettuccine Alfredo, and somehow it managed to be both lava hot and completely flavorless at the same time. The chicken tasted like it lost a fight with the microwave. The meatloaf? I genuinely have no idea what they served me. It looked like cafeteria mystery meat drowned in tomato puree. Honestly offensive. I ordered the green chile cheeseburger with fries thinking maybe they'd at least get that right. Nope. The green chile had zero spice, zero flavor, zero reason to exist. The burger itself was forgettable at best. And the best part? The bill was nearly $100. For dirty vents, dead flies, bland food, and mystery meat. Would I come back? Not even if someone else was paying.
