We had lunch here, and had no difficulty finding parking We were seated immediately and had attentive service. Unsurprising, the Lucky Bull Grill has a rustic character. I had the 24 Tap BLT, and my wife had the Cobb salad with fried chicken. She enjoyed the salad, and said the fried chicken was quite good. The BLT was mostly bacon, with a leaf of lettuce and a thin slice of tomato; much as I enjoyed the bacon (chewy, not excessively crispy), I also appreciate the contrast with meaty tomato and crisp lettuce, so I found this BLT okay but not great. YMMV. I had onion rings with the BLT, and they were pretty good. Overall a positive experience, and a decent venue for lunch, but room for improvement. read more

Went to walk around Carlsbad Caverns, and ate dinner at the Lucky Bull Grill, which was over a 4-star rating. Lots of people here had to wait several minutes for a table. Gave the guy my name, and he said it will be about 10 to 15 minutes. Waited over 15 minutes, walked up to him, and inquired about a table. He looked, and there were 3 tables available. We were then seated. This Host is in over his head. Ordered our drinks, looked over the menu. Decided to try their Caribbean Jerk Chicken, Grilled Half Chicken glazed with sweet & spicy sauce. Served on a bed of Cilantro Lime Rice, garnished with Creamy Cole Slaw. Wife ordered a dinner salad. Food was served, and the Chicken looked pretty good. It was very dry, but it did have somewhat of a spiciness to it. It was not served on a bed of Cilantro Lime Rice. The Rice was off to the side and completely tasteless and dry. The Creamy Cole Slaw was nothing but shredded cabbage, nothing creamy about this at all - just dry. Looks like most of the crowd here ordered off the Burger list. Met a friend here to try for the first time. Probably wouldn't go back. We ordered an appetizer and it was all over fried. Onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and fried mushrooms. This was a packed little spot in Carlsbad that had a neat dive bar kind of feel to it. Despite the lunch rush, the service was great and the food got out quickly. The Chips and Green Chile Queso was fine, the queso could have definitely used more green chile but the chips were good. The Burger w/ Green Chiles and Egg was very overcooked, though (well-done instead of medium) and the bacon on it had been burned. Came here for dinner as this restaurant had over a 4 star rating..not sure why. I ordered the club sandwich and what I got was definitely not a club sandwich. It was some sort of "melt" - soggy and not what a standard club sandwich is ever. Also just decided to throw in a 3" chunk of lettuce instead of separating the leaves and cutting the core out. Ordered a salad and it was of course an additional charge for some lettuce and cucumbers. Blue cheese dressing tasted sour son got a burger and seemed to like it enough. Only good thing about our visit was our kind waitress. Unfortunately, I asked to box up the sandwich that was barely touched but guess they don't ask if something was wrong so they won't have to take it off the check. There aren't many options in this town but next time we'll stick to a chain restaurant so we at least know what to expect. Place is dirty and loud too. Not worth the $70 we spent. read more

After sightseeing, we picked the Lucky Bull Grill for a late lunch and ordered a jammin bacon burger with homemade chips and the panko onion rings and split. Both were excellent. First time having onion wings breaded in panko bread crumbs. They were lighter, did not taste as greasy. The burger was very filling and done to our preference. The staff was very helpful and the atmosphere was very in keeping with the feel of the area. We chatted with a gentleman while we were waiting to be seated. We travel full time and he had some wonderful tips on things to see. He seemed very knowledgeable and was willing to share places he had seen in his travels. The best part was that unbeknown to us,he picked up the tab to our lunch and left before we could thank him. Such a kind gesture in these crazy times. Thank you. Visited on a Friday evening in Winter. Lucky for us we arrived just before the evening rush because the restaurant is popular and quickly filled up. We both ordered a margarita which was delicious. We could tell it was fresh since it was better than the typical margarita mixer. My husband ordered the fish and chips which came out hot and crunchy. The piece of fish was huge and very tasty and came with a big pile of French fries. The shrimp and grits were delicious! Creamy and packed with a spicy accent of jalapeños the grits were perfectly seasoned while the 8 shrimp were tender. The side I chose was the special of the week: seasoned corn on the cob (see photos). I've never had anything like it (since we are passing through from the East Coast) and we devoured it. The interior isn't very fancy, reminds me of a road house, but it was comfortable and had a laid back vibe. Service was prompt and friendly. Valentine's Day afternoon and no reservations how about that! We checked out the lucky bull restaurant in Carlsbad after a nice day at the national park. Free street parking is available in the area but it can get a little tight. Arriving early afternoon we were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated We immediately ordered from their nice selection of beers and a bar sampler that included onion rings, fried mushrooms, and mozzarella sticks; served with a house, ranch and a really nice jalapeño dip. It was a great way to start our long afternoon lunch. Their house salad were super crisp and fresh. The ribeye steak was excellent and we chose to order it without extra seasoning which just offers the great quality, the steak to speak for itself. The big blue burger was phenomenal, particularly with the applewood bacon that was outstanding. The house slaw is great because it's not mayonnaise bass, It's more of a vinegar base Salad that's not too overwhelming. They also offer several desserts, which were a wonderful way to end our meal. Service here was outstanding. Our server Vanessa was exceptional, from her attentiveness, and her knowledge of the beer menu knowledgeable. The restaurant is clean, casual, and just a really casual five that welcomes anybody to enjoy themselves. We also happened to enjoy the best of the 80s music that was rocking out for the afternoon! I'm town for a few days, looking for the local spots and Yelp's right over to this one. Initial feel is pretty cool- it's a restaurant in the old city hall (TINY city hall) A bun-less Lucky Bull burger for me (with a side salad) and a House chopped salad with salmon for hubs. Yes, obviously, we're trying to be healthy. But we _did_ order the chips and queso with a side of the jalapeño salsa to start out so, *shrug.* Crisp, thick chips are pretty nice compliment to the Smokey queso and the salsa with a little kick on the back end. My burger looks terribly sad on the plate all naked, but it tastes ok; not the best I've ever had, not the worst either. The side salad was actually really large (that always happens with lettuce, it just EXPANDS once you put it on a plate) Try the honey mustard vinaigrette, it's perfect. Hubs really enjoyed his salmon and salad. Forgot to say no croutons, and I swear there's a pile of bread over there the size of the foothills west of town. It's a decent little place, nothing so fantastic that I'd sing it's praises, but decent enough. Service was consistent and kept moving the whole time, so kudos to our guy) One other quick positive: the music could have been one of my own playlists. So A+ on that one. read more

All jokes aside this place is cool, BEER is COLD and the food is good! There's ambient space however, it gets packed so expect a wait. I had a birds eye view of the place and the waiter/ waitress get busy. Don't be rude. I seen them walking back and forth doing the best they could, kudos. But let me tell you about the burger! I believe they have the best green chili burger in town! Prove me wrong!! I'm not sure but I believe the burgers are flame-grilled!! It was a monster, I didn't believe I could finish it but boy did I! Lol! I'll be going back. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is the wait for a table can be a bit long at times.
