Beautiful store in downtown Downers Grove and I can walk there, so stopped in to get new batteries in two watches. They replaced them right away and at a reasonable rate, $10 each. I recently got engaged about 3 weeks ago. My fiance bought my ring (which is perfect) at a jeweler in Indiana because it's owned by a friend of a friend. So - when I needed to get my ring sized, I wanted to try to find a place that could do it it one day. You'd be surprised that most places will tell you a week or more... Well, I couldn't wait that long!! I had to spread the good news and wanted to show off my ring! Anyway - I called Dariusz, and they had me come right in. They were extremely nice and I got my ring back that night!! Last night a dog whom I am petsitting for got mouthy during play - and hit my ring at just the right angle and hard enough to loosen my center stone. So today I called Dariusz again for help and I was able to get my ring fixed AND cleaned in a matter of minutes at no charge. My experience was similar to Paul J.'s. When others couldn't do the job, Dariusz did, with ease and exceptional service. Informed Jewelery customers know what to pay for an item. So the difference is most often service. Some of us are even happy to pay a slight premium to support an establishment we feel provides a quality product, treats you fairly and provides great service (no different than tipping at a restaurant). Dariusz provides a great customer experience. They are knowledgeable, friendly and straightforward. I'll take a place that shoots straight right off the bat over the slimy sales techniques of other stores any day. You know...the ones who say "I'll tell you what...this is your lucky day...don't tell my manager, but...etc. etc." Makes my skin crawl just thinking about it. None of my business with them to date has been extraordinary. Yet they have treated me no different than someone making a large purchase. That says something. So when the time comes for the next big purchase, I know where I'll be taking my business. One final note, and this may not mean much to others, but each time I've been in with my children, the staff at Dariusz have been friendly, kind and patient with them. After going to 3 locations to get my watch repaired with absolutely no luck. I ended up at Dariusz. One of these other Jewelers even told me the watch was not worth it, the cost to repair was to great and I should just buy a new watch from them. My center ring was loose and I started searching for a local jeweler that could tighten it in house. I called several and a lot send the ring out to have it tightened. I called Dariusz Jewlers and they said not a problem, the owner can do it for you in quickly. I wouldn't have needed this done, but I was at Jared Jewelry a few weeks ago where they supposendly 'tightened it' and must have made it worse or didn't do it at all. Brought it in without an appointment to Dariusz and he spent some time making sure to tighten the center stone. He also cleaned it. When I asked how much, he said no charge. I couldn't believe it! Jared charges around $50 (not including the cleaning) to do this and they didn't even do what I paid for! Would highly recommend Dariusz. I will be bringing my future business there. read more

Went in with my wedding ring that is over 100 years old...I caught it on the door jam and really did a number on it. Cracked the setting pretty severely. It also had structural damage from age and wear. I left it in their good hands, and picked it up today! I saw it and hugged the man I was so happy!!! I would give 0 stars if possible. I dropped off a watch for repair and was told the watch needed cleaning and would be ready in 2 weeks. Three months later I finally got the watch back after demanding it's return. There were many excuses on why it took so long. These were excuses made up after the fact to explain away the 3 month time delay. I will never use the services of this store again. read more
