The park was fantastic, pristine and spacious with a top tier playground. Felix's parents claimed a prime seating area right outside the playground, where we could eat and socialize while keeping an eye on our various kids. The set-up felt very safe and easy. I admit to losing track of my five-year-old for long stretches at a time, and once finding him in a piece of playground equipment with a group of children he didn't know, giggling as two of their dads spun them around and around. My two-year-old spent a lot of time in the sand with several toddler friends, pouring sand into a play table and also all up in their clothes. We brought our elderly basset hound Duke in a mobility stroller, and he got lots of attention, too. It was a nice outing for our whole family. I also couldn't help but notice that the park was right next to the Santa Monica Airport and other airplane-themed entertainment. We live pretty far from Marine Park, but I have a feeling we'll be back.

The paved paths are mostly smooth except where the earth is settling or where the brown squirrels have dug out the ground near the railings that overlook to the beach. There are plenty of food vendors to buy a lunch and enjoy a picnic. There is paid parking lots and bicycle parking as well. There are bathrooms that a secured by an attendant at the entrance. Parking was a breeze. The park has an indoor room you can reserve if you plan far enough ahead, but the outdoor tables are first come first served. Felix's parents claimed a couple tables and brought two of their own, creating a sizable shady party space right next to the playground. I think the whole area was surrounded by a fence, so none of the pre-school age children could easily wander off. My boys had a blast playing in the sand and on the cute structure. There was also a little set-up for puppet shows, and all the kids kept going over there and pretending to buy and sell ice cream. I live too far from Santa Monica to make much use of Joslyn Park, but I know a good park when I see one. I'd recommend this place if you have young children, whether for party time or just a relaxing hour of play.

I circled around a bit through a few blocks before chancing on a spot. Walking towards the park, I overheard a few regulars of the park complaining about the commotion. What can you do? There was a smell towards the 7th and California corner, though the majority of the park was cleansed by the gentle ocean breeze, and the restrooms seemed fairly clean. Lots of folks came by for the mahjong event, and it turned out to be a fun little get-together. Beginners and seasoned pros alike shared a table, and even young kids were able to pick up on the gameplay. Haha I was mistaken for a teaching assistant more than once. Playing big mahjong with the cardboard boxed tiles was a unique shared experience, and we did end up winning a round!

When we came on Thursday they had a Food Bank where they give food away and these boxes has organic fruits and Veggies as well. They start at 11am people line up and you grab a number and then make your way to grab your goodies. I really appreciated the Lady that helped me carry them to my car, very sweet of her. We came here for the Splash pad and Park area as well. The park is so big you can have picnics, play in the splash pad that's very well maintained and organized as well. The kids had so much fun here and you can feel free to bring your own buckets and toys to fill up water and play as well. Such a neat spot and can't wait to be back cause this summer is going to be hot. There is a lot of Shade under tree's to hang with friends or have a picnic the options are endless. Their bathrooms were well maintained and the ones by the splash pad were at times wet because people are changing but they are spacious and there is also a changing station for babies as well. Colorado Park is a beautiful, well-maintained park where you will see lots of doggos, people taking…read morecoffee breaks from work (depending on what time you go), kids on the playground, pick-up basketball games, and sometimes those funny workout classes that involve 2 lb weights and a bunch of moms standing in a circle doing semi-bicep curls. Anyway, I live right by the park and when I have my dog I always take my dog here and do some pull-ups. It's a very pleasant area and I hope to have a picnic here sometime. There are also tennis courts just adjacent to the park; dunno if they're just open to the public though. I love this park and how clean and nice it is and I hope it stays that way! There's street parking along the edges of the park but I never have to park here. :)
