Breakfast itself was very basic diner fare -- eggs, toast, and the usual staples. Nothing fancy, but it was inexpensive and filled the plate. The atmosphere gave me strong old truck-stop diner vibes. Some people may appreciate that nostalgic roadside feel, but for me the restaurant felt a bit dirty and very worn down, like it hasn't had much maintenance or updating in quite a long time. One of the people dining with me ordered a lunch special of beef and mashed potatoes, and unfortunately it was extremely greasy and didn't seem freshly made. It was bad enough that they couldn't finish it. Another downside for me was that the diner is cash-only. We rarely carry cash, so we had to use the ATM, which added extra cost to the visit. Overall, Flo's is definitely a very old-school diner experience -- cheap food, tiny coffee prices, and a truck-stop style atmosphere. Adeline greeted us with her beautiful smile after we sat. She got drinks started while we looked over the menu. The menu is quite broad and they have a little of everything. For breakfast I ordered the rise and shine. Your traditional breakfast of eggs, toast, home fries and toast. My daughter got the crab cakes and eggs. While we waited for breakfast, we enjoyed coffee and orange juice. The coffee wasn't the hottest but it was still good with the vanilla creamer. Breakfast came out on huge plates. Everything looked so good, especially the home fries. I'm a sucker for potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly, nice and runny in the middle, the toast was buttery, the home fries had a nice light char on them and soft in the middle. I did get a side of sausage gravy for my home fries but it didn't tickle my fancy, The potatoes were good without it. I did get to try some of my daughter's crab cake. It was very tasty! I initially was going to get the crab cakes but I got a couple bites of my daughter's so win win on having a little of everything. I also got a ham breakfast melt to go for my husband. As a kid (60+ years ago!), my Dad would bring me there on Saturdays for lunch. He'd lift me up onto a counter stool, then he'd order a hamburger "with a slice of raw onion as thick as the burger" & a cup of black coffee. I'd have a platter of French fries & a Coke. This time I was there for breakfast, and it didn't disappoint. We both ordered coffee, still served in heavy ceramic cups. We also both had the traditional breakfast - 2 eggs, hash browns, a breakfast meat (crisp bacon for me, sausage links for my cousin), and 2 slices of buttered toast ($14.95). Everything was delicious & all the staff were friendly & attentive. It's so nice when your great memories match your current experience. I definitely recommend this Gem!
