They have redone the interior with fresh paint and reupholstered booths. When I first went there was only 1 server and then things started to pick up quickly. She was friendly and kept the coffee refills coming. The food didn't take that long and was tasty. Table has almost everything you could need (ketchup, 4 different kinds of jelly, creamer, sugars) and when the food is served they offered hot sauce.

First time I went to this restaurant. I am always interested in trying new places. I ordered a large Julienne Salad. I was disappointed when they said they were out of hard boiled eggs, but ordered it anyway. It looked beautiful and tasted great. However, underneath the top layer was a half bowl of old brown lettuce! I should have said something but didn't want to make a stink in front of the people I was meeting with there. However, I feel this in inexcusable. There is no way that the person who made the salad could not see how awful the lettuce was that they were using. I usually give restaurants a few chances, if something is just not quite right. I also hate to disparage a non-chain local restaurant, but something this deliberate makes me not want to return. The server was very good though.

Restaurant was cute & very well maintained. Inside was clean, open, very welcoming. Staff was wonderful, they were so nice, & always checked up on you. Food came out hot! Large portions and tasted good! Will return & definitely recommend.

This diner is right off old Liverpool rd. They are very friendly. We stopped in for the first time and wow great service. Immediately we are getting drinks the waitress was amazing it was really nice inside kinda home feel to it. I ordered a frittata. It was massive and I had 2meals out of it. It was very tasty and very good. I am definitely going to be back.

We are really loving this classic, old school diner that's a hot spot in Liverpool. Once you step in the door it really is like stepping back in time, servers interacting with customers and many are regulars known by names and regular orders. The cooks viewable through the open kitchen windows prepping a smorgasbord of tasty entrees and dinging the bell once orders are up! The servings are enormous, we both had the double play and always leave with enough for a second meal. I love the scrambled eggs, with bacon, toast, and added home fries with onions for only $1.50! The pancakes are mammoth, covering the entire plate! They are always hopping but we have not waited for a table and the service is great! Servers are circulating and keeping coffee, juices, and water full throughout the meal. Check out at the register also prompt and great prices, around $35 with two coffees and two orange juices!

This place has the perfect little fast pace diner feel. Our waitress was quick to take our orders and with us both ordering a good classic breakfast the food was out very fast. Our coffee was never low or cold. These also had to be the best home fries I've had yet in the area and for our giant plates of food you couldn't beat the price. I'm very picky about my eggs and these were cooked perfectly to order. Couldn't be happier. Thinking it's our new fave!

It's been a few years since I've been in the area and my girlfriend said let's stop. As we remembered it is a warm and friendly place, but a few things have changed... The choices are better, the service is better, everything seemed better. I got the fabulous Stuffed Cakes-two good sized pancakes with a thick layer of fruit between...apple, cherry, strawberry or - the one I got - blueberry heaped with whipped cream and excellent coffee. My girlfriend got a half order of Stuffed French Toast Supreme - filled with cream cheese and strawberries. I told her it was too big to finish...but we did. Definitely cozy and friendly. The stop only made the day better.

Always great food. Owner is always present and making sure things are done properly. Very few family businesses in CNY anymore that care.

I tried ordering a 1/4 fretta (ended up receiving and getting charged for 1/2) and my husband ordered a burger with chips (ended up receiving and getting charged for fries), both were no big deal but seemed slightly like a way to add a few more dollars to the bill. Portions are large and satisfying and it is a great breakfast place to go with small groups. The fretta was filling and tasty, burger was also cooked well with no complaints.

Sadly, a train didn't go by but it is hard to fault the diner for that. It has a compact footprint with about a half-dozen booths and some chairs at the bar/grill. I counted at least seven employees while we were there and they all were working hard. They were friendly, though busy. I ordered a burger and fries, my wife had a cold tuna sandwich, and my son had pancakes. My burger was very greasy and not cooked as I ordered it but it was good. It started to fall apart upon picking it up (the lettuce and tomato weren't helping matters) and I resorted to a fork and knife. The fries were very good. My wife ordered her sandwich twice and they still didn't get it correct, though they took care of it on the bill (which we weren't expecting). The pancakes were thick and chewy, but I really liked them and wish I had ordered them instead. Considering the staff walked place our booth at least 20 times during our visit I was never offered a refill, and we were only checked on once. Perhaps they expect you to complain if you need something. I dunno, but I hope to be back sometime in the future when the trains are running. Note: at 1:45 we were leaving and they dumped a ton of onions on the grill to cook. No idea who was going to eat them, but perhaps that is how they get customers out at closing time!

Oh my goodness--the nostalgia! I haven't been to Heid's in probably 15-20 years. Growing up, Heid's…read morewas such a summer staple, so now that I've moved back home, it only felt right to make my way here. Heid's has that old-school, cafeteria-style setup where you go down the line to get your food. It's simple, classic, and honestly gives me Happy Days vibes. The menu is straight comfort food--hot dogs, chicken tenders, Philly cheesesteaks, sausages with peppers and onions, and more. They also have deserts like brownies, cookies & chocolate cake. They do server beer and have lots of fountain drink options as well. I got a Gianelli sausage with cheese fries and chili. Ummm --it was so good. The fries could've used just a little more salt and pepper, but that sausage hit the spot. My mom got a sausage with cheese fries and macaroni salad and loved it. No complaints here! Next door is Sweet Treats, their ice cream stand, and it's the perfect way to end your meal. They've got soft serve, hard ice cream, milkshakes, smoothies, flurries--you name it. My mom got a raspberry-lime sherbet twist, and I went all in with cookie dough chocolate chip ice cream mixed with vanilla, topped with whipped cream and caramel syrup. So refreshing and delicious. If you are ever in the Syracuse/Liverpool area, I definitely recommend trying Heid's at least 3 times in your life. It's affordable, family-friendly, and full of nostalgia. They also have live bands on Wednesdays, car shows, outdoor seating, and community events for kids throughout the year. Definitely tastes exactly the way I remember. If you do decide to try out Heid's, leave me a comment and let me know how you liked it!

He also managed their business as their personal banker. So of course we had to come here to have a hot dog at this joint while we are visiting New York. It's cool that this joint was established in 1917. We are eating at a landmark of Liverpool. Walking in the front, there's a huge menu board to check out. We all walked in and ordered. It is a little crowded in the ordering area. There's not a lot of space between the wall and the counter. We ordered quite a few things. Of course we had to try everything. I really wanted to try the hot dogs but they gave veal in them. I just can't wrap my head around the veal. So, tonight I ordered the sausage with onions and peppers, onion rings and fries. Everything was cooked right in front of us while we were waiting. Everything on the grill looked so good! We loaded up our trays with our goodies after it was all cooked and headed to the dining area. I added some mustard and ketchup to my sausage. The onions and peppers were sautéed nicely. The sausage was tasty but dry. I ate about half and was over it. I didn't eat it with the roll, it was just too much. The onion rings were my favorite! I love the beer batter that they use. I dipped that onion ring in a side of cheese sauce, fantastic! The fries were good as well. And yes, they are even better dipped in cheese sauce. My husband smashed both of his chili and cheese dogs. He washed everything down with their chocolate milk. I had a sip of it and it's super chocolatey! It was neat to eat here today. I got to see what my father in law was a part of when he was Heid's personal banker. And eat what he used to eat when he was young. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. I really enjoyed the onion rings with the cheese sauce. If we ever make it back to New York, I'm pretty sure we will be here again. I'm looking forward to it.
