Came back and updating my review. Would give this 4.5 stars overall. Again, tiny no frills place that satisfies your appetite with a homey diner feel. I tried ordering a 1/4 fretta (ended up receiving and getting charged for 1/2) and my husband ordered a burger with chips (ended up receiving and getting charged for fries), both were no big deal but seemed slightly like a way to add a few more dollars to the bill. When visiting Syracuse, we usually stay in Liverpool but we have never actually been to downtown Liverpool. My wife and I did a long walk by the Lake and were looking for breakfast and didn't want to travel to the opposite side of town to our usual. Looked in Yelp and found this place What a hidden gem. The space was small but very clean and very busy. We came in and got spots at the counter. The food smelled incredible. The service was great. Very friendly people and fast. I had the 1/2 frittata. My wife stopped here for a quick lunch while passing through town, and she knew I would like it because it is train-themed and located next to train tracks. Sadly, a train didn't go by but it is hard to fault the diner for that. It has a compact footprint with about a half-dozen booths and some chairs at the bar/grill. I counted at least seven employees while we were there and they all were working hard. They were friendly, though busy. I ordered a burger and fries, my wife had a cold tuna sandwich, and my son had pancakes. My burger was very greasy and not cooked as I ordered it but it was good. It started to fall apart upon picking it up (the lettuce and tomato weren't helping matters) and I resorted to a fork and knife. The fries were very good. My wife ordered her sandwich twice and they still didn't get it correct, though they took care of it on the bill (which we weren't expecting). The pancakes were thick and chewy, but I really liked them and wish I had ordered them instead. Considering the staff walked place our booth at least 20 times during our visit I was never offered a refill, and we were only checked on once. Perhaps they expect you to complain if you need something. I dunno, but I hope to be back sometime in the future when the trains are running. Note: at 1:45 we were leaving and they dumped a ton of onions on the grill to cook. No idea who was going to eat them, but perhaps that is how they get customers out at closing time! read more

It was a frigid below zero day a trip to the mall planned to make a return and see a movie. Hungry I headed to Rosie's for the first time in a few years. We rarely eat breakfast out and we're craving standard diner food. Small with little parking the cold gave us a spot in the lot and at a table. Always clean and friendly with tables set up and ready to go. Specials looked good but I went traditional 2 eggs over easy hash browns with onions, bacon and Italian toast with coffee. Perfect cook on the eggs as yolks wiggled on the plate and gave plenty of run for the dunking. Hash browns just the right amount of crisp with onions carmelized translucent (my choice as optional) Bacon cooked on flat top well enough to not be chewy. (Not deep fried thank you) Very nice, efficient, hard working Owner took our order and served us. Other staff offered to top my coffee and paused for a word or two in between their work. Made us feel like regulars. Orange juice was a nice large glass capable of making it through the meal. Half size fretta could feed two but leftovers are always good. Prices are very reasonable. Such an unsuspecting gem. It doesn't look like much from outside because it is pretty small. Some booths, counter space, and a couple tables. The service is outstanding. You can tell they have their regulars and they know their orders and take care of them. Very friendly vibe and diners chatting with eachother, the server, and the cook. The food is standard diner fare for a great price. The portions are huge and the coffee keeps flowing. We ended up here on a whim and were not disappointed. I noticed another reviewer mention the mushrooms in the omelette which I also got. They were different than what I am used to, almost like they were sauted longer or brined. I didn't mind it though. Walked in at 10:52 AM today ( weekday ) Took 8 minutes for cook to offer coffee Waitress competely ignored me. After approx 12 min another guy sits at far end of bar and gets served a coffee immediately Waitress never came up to me She walked over to 3 tables and gave them thier bills Served 3 tables Still no service Now it's 20 minutes and she then take payment of the (3) tables ( I guess yer greedy fingers needed to be oiled first ) Finally takes my order Toast and eggs I ask that it's hurried up I've waited over 20 min She said it'll be out immediately Watched another 5 min go by No hread not even out toaster Just assholes and rude ppl here I encourage ppl to go to McDonalds if you want decent service Pretty rude woman and this place was nasty a few years back DONT GO THERE read more

Rosie's Trackside Diner is incredible! I went with a friend on a Sunday during their rush hour and let me tell you how impressive their operation is. The place is small and yet somehow they do an incredible job managing the space, the pace and delivering a fantastic meal. The place is really cozy, with counter seating all around and tables along the outside edges. The staff is jammed into the middle and operating like a fine tuned machine. Let me not forget to mention how kind they are amidst the controlled chaos. We ordered French Toast, Pancakes, Bacon, home fries and hash browns. It would be insulting to say anything other than it was all made to perfection. The flavors were phenomenal and the fluffiness of the french toast and pancakes were dazzling. This appeared to be a, you can't go wrong kind of situation. This is a place that is easy to recommend for a beautiful and hearty breakfast. If you like a Basic B the way I do, then this is a diner for you! 2 eggs over easy were done perfectly, home fries are consistently crispy with creamy center - deep fried after a par boil is my guess. If these were cut differently they'd be the best French fries on any menu. The bacon is not paper thin, cooked to a 'very crispy but not burnt' doneness. Toast was thin and buttery. This is a great little place. We stopped in for breakfast and I'm glad we did. The coffee was excellent and it surprised me since most small places like this serves cheap coffee. The wife ordered hash, extra crispy, and a couple of eggs. Most places seem to not under what extra crispy is but they nailed it. We visited here while in town for a Syracuse game. This is a great little local diner. Coffee was good and refills were offered several times. My husband had the meat lover's omelette with a side order of kielbasa, and I had the Mediterranean omelette (spinach, tomatoes, feta). Both omelettes were very good and served with home fries that were some of the best I've had. They were cubes of waxy type potato, and were crispy outside and soft and creamy inside. The kielbasa was split and browned on the flat top. Everything was great and I would recommend it if you're in the area. read more

I've been here a few times when it was American Diner. Unfortunately, I didn't think the food was as good as it was then. I ordered a simple breakfast. 2 eggs over medium, home fries, bacon extra crispy, Italian toast, and coffee. First let me say, the coffee was delicious. They use a local favorite, Paul DeLima. My bacon was more rubbery than crispy. The home fries were severely under cooked and not seasoned very well. In the picture you'll see some nice browned potatoes, but underneath those they were not cooked well at all. I took them home to use for breakfast the next morning. I cut them smaller, seasoned them, and fried them up in a pan and they were great. My eggs were overcooked. There was absolutely no liquid to the yolk. Very unfortunate. There seem to be a lot of great reviews, so I have it a 3 instead of a 2 because they may have been just having a bad day. I will give it one more try and update my review after that. read more

Good food here, that is not the problem, I'm just disappointed and want to warn people that if you pay any other way but cash there's a fee. I didn't see the sign but I was told by someone else that there is a sign up, but really for the last 20 years and definitely since covid businesses are moving away from cash to cleaner and easier forms like debit or credit. I understand that a small one owner business perhaps wants cash so they can hide transactions, etc, I get it, times are tough, but you should not penalize someone for using cashless transactions. read more

This place was amazing. We were passing through on the way back from the finger lakes to MA and I just wanted a hot giant breakfast to keep me full and focused on the road.
