Huge thank you to the team at Darnell Air Conditioning. We originally had another company come out to see why our system was not keeping the house cool. They came out with a tech and a sales person. They quoted us over $2500 to clean the unit but didn't diagnose the cooling issue. The salesperson was really pressing us to get a whole new system. Darnell Air was able to repair our system for half the other company's cleaning price and informed us that our system was still under warranty. My Air Conditioner stopped working on July 8th. I contacted my American Homesheild Warranty Company and they set me up a service call with Beaches AC company. It took them 6 days to get out to my home, with absolutely no communication until that day. I called American Homesheild/Beaches AC everyday up until that day, and no help/relief etc. On the 8th day of no AC with Temps of 87degrees in my house, animals vomiting and heat rash all over my body, I was desperate and decided to not use my Warranty and call Darnell AC and Heating Co. that my neighbor Sandi told me about. I called and left a VM message at 7:30 am Friday morning and received a return call from Debbie at 8:00am! She was so kind and helpful and told me someone would be out to my home by 11:00am. I was so emotionally, mentally and physically drained by this time, that I found myself crying knowing I was going to get help!! Brian arrived at 11:00am and inspected my AC unit. He was very kind, empathetic and explained/showed me everything he was doing. We discussed options and being that my unit was 16 yrs old, I felt it best it to put all the money it would cost for what might be a temporary fix, into a brand new unit. Debbie called me around 3:00pm that day with an estimate for the new unit and stated they needed to order some parts, and can install Tuesday! I accepted and was beyond excited knowing Darnell AC was literally coming to my rescue and would bring me and my animals relief from this awful ordeal in just a few more days!! On July 20th(12 days w/o AC)Brian and his partner arrived at my house at 7:45am to begin the install. They worked diligently all day and completed the install by 3:00pm. Brian took the time to explain/show me how to work the thermostat, change air filters, etc. Within hours my home was cool and comfortable! Thank you Darnell AC for coming to my rescue and for providing 5 STAR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I would 100% recommend this company to anyone!! read more

Had this company fix an a/c unit once and didn't have any problems with the service call; however, the second time I did. After agreeing to pay a $79 service charge to diagnose the problem which would be waived if I replaced the unit, I was quoted a ridiculously high figure of $800 to fix. So it wasn't cost effective to repair it and I decided I will have it replaced instead. It was 23 years old. This is a landlord/tenant location. The owner couldn't give an immediate estimate because he didn't have the right people with him. He said he needed to bring a duct guy to go up into the attic before he could quote a price. So here's where the problem starts. I told him it was very important to keep my tenants happy and I will bend over backwards for them because it's hard to find good tenants and I don't want to lose them when their lease is up. He was supposed to coordinate his second visit with the tenant because the attic entry is in the garage and the tenant needed to clear out a path so the technician could get up into the attic. A week went by and Darnell had not yet called the tenant and they were getting upset. I called another company to do an emergency repair and he only charged $385. This shows you how ridiculously high Darnell's repair price was. Anyway, to prevent this from happening ever again, I was still going to replace the unit. Another 4 days or so go by and still no contact with the tenant. I even have to reduce the tenants rent by $150 this month to keep them happy because Darnell dropped the ball. I called a third company and they coordinated with the tenants immediately and gave me the estimate. Once approved, they coordinated the replacement with the tenants for the next day. The tenants are satisfied with the work done. Darnell gave me a non-binding verbal quote for a generic A/C unit at $4500 but needed to give me a more accurate and binding estimate after looking at it in more detail. It was replaced with a brand name Rheem for $3500. That's $1000 less. So even though Darnell does great work, they over price their services. Unfortunately if you get another estimate from another company to confirm this you will still be owing the $79 service charge to Darnell because they will not give you a free estimate. I received my $79 bill in the mail and I called to see if they could wave the fee since they ended up costing me $535 because they dropped the ball in contacting the tenants and me having to keep them happy. The owner, Brian, refused. In fact, he was very nasty and unprofessional in this discussion. He only stated that my financial issues are my problem and not his and that he will take me to court for the $79. I don't have financial issues. I am responsible for the maintenance of several homes and asked if he was willing to lose a customer over this and he said yes. He eventually hung up on me before the conversation was over. As for me, I will never use this company again. Not because of bad work but because they are extremely unreliable and rip you off (proven by me having other companies do the same work for a lot less). read more
