    1/4 chicken combo
    Alex F.

It was my first time eating Portuguese, so I don't have previous experiences with it, but I really enjoyed Darosa. I had the 1/4 chicken combo with rice and potatoes, it was super filling and tasted great, it had a homemade taste that I really enjoyed. It was exactly what I wanted for a Saturday evening meal. I would definitely come back for more, I'll try the short ribs next time, they looked bomb.

Whole chicken, small potatoes, small salad, 1 Diet Coke, complimentary bread - $20.05 after tax!

Was in the Lawrence and Marlee area in the mood for some good grub. Remembered this place from about 7 years ago. My ex picked up some take out so I never had the chance to go in. This place is pretty nice for a Portuguese chicken place. Was seated promptly and the place was quite busy. Asked for the menu and was surprisingly told that there wasn't one. Was read the list of meats and sides. Ordered a full chicken, small potatoes and small Greek salad. Chicken was spot on. Nice and crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. The potatoes were good but were not as crispy as some other stellar places I've been to. The Greek salad looked a little lame but the taste was spot on. All in all a great experience. Apparently all of their deserts are home made but I didn't get to try them...this time.

The food was amazing but the service can definitely be improved upon. It was a bit hectic until one of the ladies finally came over to explain their menu as they don't have menus. The older ladies are by far more upbeat than the younger one. Food was great. Will come back here if I'm in the area and hungry. Unique tasting food.

Good, cheap food. May not be the best choice for someone who isn't Portuguese as there are no menus. Customer service needs improvement.

Quality food, friendly service and inexpensive. The steak is delicious and you can't go wrong with breakfast for $5.

Keep in mind if you go for brunch at around noon on a Saturday, there might be a line for a table. They offered to give us a patio seat and we accepted (it was one of those days where the air quality was bad, but we were hungry so we took the patio anyways). The food took a while to get there. My friend and I both ordered the same thing, which was the schnitzel sandwich. I had mine with truffle fries and she had it with sweet potato fries. The schnitzel sandwich itself was great. The schnitzel was incredibly well seasoned and just the right amount of crispy. The portion was also quite massive. I didn't really enjoy the bread, particularly with the sesame seeds (it was a lot!) and the pickles felt unnecessary as well. My truffle fries were amazing. I had a few of my friend's sweet potato fries and they were also quite good. They have a really extensive menu, so I actually would want to come back again just to try other things. I didn't get to try the drink menu but I'd also want to try some as well, particularly the smoothies and the lattes. Overall, I'd recommend this brunch place! Make sure you do a reservation if you can if you're coming during peak hours.

Tables were mostly circular booth tables which was a bit tough to fit 6 adults and a toddler but we made it work. Staff was friendly and always available to assist. Food order was taken promptly and delivered promptly as well. Food itself was good but I do think their shakshuka is their star. I had that dish at another location the first time I tried cafe Landwer and it was to die for. I wanted to try a dinner menu item and got the chicken parmigiana with pasta instead. It was okay but definitely did not compete with the shakshuka I ate previously. Other meals included schnitzel and various pastas. All good but again nothing to write home about. I did however have a bit of my friend's roasted potatoes and it was delicious. Will be back for shakshuka!

First impressions? Wow. Aesthetically pleasing and beautiful. It was empty when I arrived, but the first thing that caught my eye was the attention to detail, to the colour scheme and decor. There's a cute patio outside. Inside? Beautiful interiors and the dishes used? A perfect match. A flower wall at the back with a neon sign also adorns the place. Overall, I felt the place is warm, cozy and inviting. Staff very friendly and even gave us recommendations on what to order. We ordered a gozleme (stuffed flatbread) and a slice of trilece. My only regret? Not ordering more. We were served complimentary Turkish tea. As for the food, I loved every bite and savored the touch of love added. I especially loved the trilece which was not too sweet, but just right. Washroom was also very clean. I instantly recommended this place to a friend who lives in the area. As for me, I look forward to coming back sooner than later, perhaps for their breakfast as it is a breakfast café after all. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the menu as it feels a little crammed and a bit hard to read with so much info on just 3 pages, but otherwise, everything else was great.

I found the menamen missing a depth in taste of a well stewed tomato base, and the beef tips were dry. The accompanying bread was phenomenal tho. The server was rushed and didn't seem to hear what I was asking for. I bought some cookies to take out and they were given to me already crushed and broken up in the clamshell container. Maybe I should have said something, it's telling that I didn't (I suspected I wasn't going to be understood and if a server is willing to hand over crumbled cookies, can I expected any ROI by saying anything?? I had already paid the bill so I just got out of there. When I tasted the crumbled cookies, I found them lacking in taste as well, not just super dry.
