We came in as customers and left as family. This place won business of the year and everything from the impeccable service to the phenomenal food and amazing atmosphere tells you why. We made a 30 minute trip to be fed well. Just delicious! Thank you Tracy for the great recommendations and hospitality.

I ordered the soft shell crab po boy with red beans and rice on the side, The po boy was the star. The soft shell crab was crispy, flavorful, and packed into fresh bread that held everything together without getting soggy. Messy in the best way and exactly what you hope for when you order one. The red beans and rice were comforting and well seasoned, a perfect side to go. The place has a laid back, welcoming feel, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The owner was super friendly and very hospitable. Definitely living up to the southern hospitality. Food came out hot and fresh. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when I'm craving New Orleans style comfort food.

Back a thousand years ago (or so it feels) before Covid / house moves / countless other life interferences, I used to make it to Darrow's fairly regularly. I think today's visit ended a three year drought for me, and despite the now 60-mile round trip, I'll definitely not be leaving it so long again. The quality is unchanged, it's still a must-try. The restaurant is only open Thursdays to Sundays these days, and I dropped in on a Thursday for a late lunch amid the Atchafalaya Swamp signs and soundtracked by unobtrusive saxophone jazz covers. The restaurant wasn't busy, and the service was Louisiana relaxed and super friendly as always. I didn't have to wait long for my food, and the prices here are great for the huge Po'boy sandwiches. I once tried to eat two in a sitting... not easy, as one is a decent meal by itself. I default to the Zeek Po'boy (to the point that I can't comment on the rest of the menu!) with its perfect soft catfish in crunchy breadcrumbs accentuated in both flavor and texture by chunky potato salad. Highly recommended, and that's an understatement.

Sunday after Church Lunch and we decided on Darrows. Customer service was top tier. We were greeted immediately and although orders are placed with a cashier we were still given a menu to look over before going to order. The owner came by to greet us as well, he was very pleasant and explained the menu to us. The decor was nice and they have a full bar, yay!!!. We ordered Gumbo Yaya which tasted better than it looked. Chicken and waffles, shrimp plate with fries and Jambalaya. For drinks we ordered a lemon drop and long Island ice tea very tasty. The young man who made the drinks came over to ensure they were good. I loved my experience and plan on returning for more delicious eats

For an unforgettable taste of southern cooking, look no further! The food is incredible, the service is top-notch, and the menu is simply outstanding. From the moment you step inside, you're welcomed as family. My family and I sampled various dishes, and every single one was fantastic! Po'boys, chicken supper, catfish, shrimp and oysters Enjoy!

I am back for some "down home" Louisiana fried catfish, fried chicken wings, bean-balaya, greens, red beans and rice, and a peach cobbler. YUMMERS! Norwood greeted me with much love and care. In fact, every worker with whom I have had the pleasure of meeting, has been as congenial as Norwood. I can say without fear of contradiction that Darrow's New Orleans Grill treats everyone like loving family members. That is rare these days. I thought I was his favorite until I saw him greeting others the same way. The room is filled with love. Every customer sees it. Every customer feels it. If you're one of those who is wondering where the love has gone, come to Darrow's. You'll find it right here waiting on you.

I brought a group of first timers to Darrow's New Orleans Grill in Carson this afternoon, enjoying the opportunity to share one of my favorite local eateries with the group. As a resident of Carson and a loyal customer for over 10 years, I appreciate the restaurant's commitment to serving delicious, abundant dishes. The owner extends a warm welcome to all guests, offering a personal tour of the restaurant's history and a sample of their signature gumbo. If you're in Carson and craving New Orleans cuisine, I am confident that Darrow's will provide a delightful experience.

Where to begin...we drove from our home in south Orange County to dine at Darrow's, and it was worth the drive! From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were wrapped up in true kindness and hospitality. I have never felt so genuinely welcomed at a restaurant. When Darrow's says they "don't have customers...they have family", they mean it. In addition to the best customer service one could hope for, Darrow's food is 10 out of 10! I enjoyed the shrimp and grits and my wife loved the catfish supper. For anyone hoping to find authentic soul food, look no further than Darrow's. Their greens are delicious and their cornbread melts in your mouth. We also ordered gumbo to go so we could enjoy it for dinner tonight. Darrow's is a gem! We hope to become regulars, despite the long drive. Darrow's family....we love you! Update: We had the gumbo for dinner and WOW! The broth is so flavorful and savory. Darrow's cuisine is both flavorful and exceptional quality.

Best food in Carson! The breading on the zeek po boy was on point. The gator sauce complemented the sandwich perfectly. The corn bread is the best I've ever had. The service was also top notch. The owner was super friendly. We loved the conversation. He told us about his family history with New Orleans and the famous Commander's Palace. The hurricane was sweet and boozy. Restaurant and restroom were clean. Lots of indoor seating. There is a free covered parking lot. Go slow so you don't miss the turn. Will be back soon

Look no further for an authentic, warm and welcoming Cajun experience. We were greeted by Norwood and he walked us "rookies" through the menu. Of course we had to try the gumbo - packed full of flavor with undertones of seafood, full of shrimp, sausage and all those delicious seasonings that make it. Got it with the jambalaya which was just as flavorful on its own. My buddies got the chicken plate (lots of beautifully fried chicken, rice & beans, and fries all with that gator sweat...oh yeah!), as well as the brisket bowl which was as close to a salad as you can find here (way tastier than any salad you'll ever have with the jambalaya and beans). Hurricane on the rocks was sweet tangy and tropical, just like it should be. Parking is super plentiful in the attached garage. There is a good amount of seating in the restaurant with fun stuff up high on the walls. Try it if you are craving a good Cajun joint in the South Bay!

Shrimp Po' Boy and Red Beans & Rice

Today was my first experience with Cajun food and I was absolutely blown away! I ordered the shrimp po boy with a side of beans and rice. The sandwich bread was so soft and super fresh; I wouldn't be surprised if it had been baked this morning. The shrimp was golden and fried to perfection! Try it with a side of gator sweat sauce, it's obscenely green and ridiculously good. The beans were full of flavor and delicious as was the rice. We sat out front on the patio and they were able to accommodate my small well behaved pup. Darrow, the owner introduced himself and gave us the full rundown upon arrival. He was friendly and you can really tell how much he cares about his product. Overall, it was a 11/10 dining experience that look forward to having again. The jambalaya is on the top of my list to try next visit.

Fillet Catfish Po' Boy with Tater Salad and Cornbread for lunch!
    Leo H.

The catfish is good, the corn bread is amazing, and the flavors and spices in the gumbo gave a very nice peppery kick. Also, Norwood gave us the most friendly welcome to his restaurant described the items on the menu for us first-timers while offering us samples. A really good experience, and I look forward to returning for more of their specials!

It's literally walking distance from our hotel in Torrance -- so close we actually walked past it the first time without even realizing it was there. Super hidden, easy to miss. The space itself is small, and when you first walk in it doesn't hit you with an over-the-top tiki vibe right away. But once the drinks start coming out, it fully delivers. The glassware is so fun and themed -- I was obsessed with the flamingo cup and actually ended up buying a couple online since I couldn't take the real one home with me. Drink-wise, I stuck mostly to my usual zombie, which has this great earthy, cinnamon-y flavor that's just different from anything else -- does the trick every time (there's a two-drink max/minimum on it, which I respect). We also tried a Makahiki Mua and a Painkiller, both really solid. The Makahiki Mua had a fun flavor, kind of similar to a Painkiller, but the zombie is still my go-to. Service was pretty good overall -- the bartender stayed mostly in one corner of the bar, which actually worked in our favor since we got served fast. A couple of small quirks though: they only have a limited number of menus, so we kept having to pass one back and forth around the bar, which felt a little silly. They also seemed to be running low on drink cups at times, having to wash and rotate them back into use, which was an odd thing to notice at a bar this size. Also wish they had some food or snacks available, even something small -- but that's a minor gripe. Vibe-wise, this is easily one of my favorite tiki lounges I've been to -- doesn't quite topple Broken Compass Tiki for me, but it's up there. Fun, easy, great drinks, solid service despite the small hiccups, and a perfect spot if you're staying in the Torrance area. Would absolutely go back and would recommend it to anyone chasing that tiki lounge crawl.

When we arrived, the restaurant was about half full and there was live music occurring on the patio. We opted to sit inside where it was a little less noisy and there was a comfy and cozy booth calling our name. The vibe was great, with fun and eclectic decor. The service was really upbeat and friendly and our server was so kind and helpful. We asked him if the espresso martini had dairy in it (which I just discovered that is a thing at some places) and he double checked with the bartender to ensure there wasn't my dairy in it! I ordered that alongside a falafel wrap I must say, both of these worked so well together. The espresso martini was light and refreshing yet still had a bold flavor. The falafel was nice and crispy with a delectable inside and the tahini sauce was so rich and creamy. The meal felt indulgent yet hearty all at the same time.
