The Hula Hula Room is incredible! We had such a fun time and will definitely be back. The cocktails here are inventive and bring the perfect combo of the South Bay and aloha spirit. The frozen drinks are dangerously good since you cannot taste the alcohol at all. The decorations are great and I absolutely love the art. It even features my favorite Hawaiian artist, Nick Kuchar! The space has a great layout. There are two large high top booths in the back that are perfect for groups of 8 to 10 people. The bathroom I used was gender neutral, and there is a convenient parking lot right in front. They do not serve food here, so some folks bring their own. We will definitely bring a meal with us next time! To top it all off, the service was very friendly. They were so patient explaining the whole menu to our large group.

Came to this bar since I've heard great things and was not disappointed! It was karaoke night and the vibes were great. The drinks were phenomenal and bartender was very sweet. Loved the ambiance and decor. Will definitely be coming back

We had a fun time at this club. They don't serve food so bring your own. They have a full bar with excellent bartenders. They were kind enough to reserve the back of the location for a friend's retirement party for nearly 50 people. We had a lot of fun. We brought in pizza, salads and cookies and most of our guests ordered alcoholic beverages - some in unique containers. Parking outside was plentiful. It's a very good place for special events or just relaxing at their bar.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Great decor, music, drinks, and service. Our part of four made it in time for the Hula Happy Hour ($3 off select drinks 4-6pm). I was intrigued by the Tropical espresso martini--you don't see these on tiki bar menus usually, but this one was very good. Others got the following cocktails and enjoyed them: Sweater Weather, El Diablo (the chili horns garnish really makes it), and Nor Easter. The drinks were well-crafted by our friendly bartender. None of the sickly sweet stuff here. No food, but there are plenty of restaurants in the shopping center. It turned out to be a great spot for pre-dinner drinks, and I'm eager to return!

I went here with my sisters and a friend. We were looking for a chill and quick drink cause we just finished watching a movie late at night. We went on a Sunday night at 11pm. There were just 2 couples and 1 group so it wasn't that busy. There was 1 bartender at that time. The vibe was really nice since it's small and intimate space. We ordered dole whip and some aloha rita. Not really into drinking alcohol, I usually get the fruity drink where I barely taste the alcohol. So I had the dole whip, I had 2 of those since it was really good. We spent maybe an hour to an hour and half just chilling and vibing in there. Would definitely wanna go back to try some more of their drinks and just to chill as well.

I really enjoyed the Hula Hot Buttered Rum from the seasonal menu. It came with a fun surprise snickerdoodle. My boyfriend ordered the Makahiki Mua, classic tasting tiki drink. I also loved the souvenir mug and keep thinking about how fun it would be to own one. I'll give it another week before deciding if it's worth a return trip just for that. Customer service was good, with the same level of attentiveness to detail I've come to expect here.

JC was our bartender. I ordered the Scorpion and my wife ordered the Espresso Martini. Both drinks were very delicious. The atmosphere here is very relaxed and easy on the eyes. It's definitely not the most theatrical tiki bar I've been to, but I enjoyed myself there. The had a lot of drinks that I wish I could try one after the other. Check them out!

Very friendly staff any welcoming. Love the interior decor and lots of seating. The menu is extensive and selection of rums is as well. I am glad this place exists as we need more upscale-ish cocktail lounges in the South Bay. Plenty of parking too!

Exec summary: 1- Ambiance: This is a narrow bar, curated very well in the tiki theme. It's dark. Really dark. Giligans Island was playing 2- food None. But it's surround by 3 great Japanese restaurants in the same strip mall 3- drinks That's what this place is about. Alas, I went on a trainee night and the concoctions weren't up to their previous standard Tiki Kai (same owners) in Hermosa makes a better Mai Tai 4- service I will say that the bartenders are super friendly It gets crowded on Fridays and weekends, if you go early in a weekday you do get happy hour. I still like it. It's a cool vibe and , you know, sometimes you just need a drink in a weird cup with an umbrella

The Hula Hula Room is a (as the name suggests) a tiki bar located in strip mall (in the old Zebra Room space). It has the feel of a dive bar, with very dim lighting and one long bar running along the length of the room. Drinks: The Hula Hula Room offers your standard tiki bar drinks (and no food). I've tried the Mai Tai, Navy Grog (rum, honey, grapefruit, lime, and soda), and Painkiller (rum, coconut, orange, pineapple, and bitters). All were okay drinks ... neither bad nor special. Service: On each of my visits (around 6:00 pm) during the week and on a Sunday, there was only a single bartender working, so was somewhat slow. Bottom Line: Passable tiki bar that hits the spot when you want a tropical drink.

This place exudes Aloha spirit! It is a relatively darkly lit Hawaiian vibe and totally chill. Liz greeted us the moment we stepped into the room. Happy Hour goes from opening to six and offers you $3 off any menu cocktail. The Mai Tais are quite good. On Liz's recommendation, I tried Three Dots and a Dash. Beautiful! We will put this in our regular HH rotation. Cheers!

Cute, casual, intimate tiki bar in Torrance with a very mixed, eclectic crowd. I think I saw people from ages 21-80 while I was there! It was dim-lit, lively, and loud inside. It's not really a romantic date vibe. It's more like fun vibes for a small group of friends and a nice happy hour environment. However, it was a tad bit understaffed on a Friday night towards the end of happy hour. My husband and I came and sat at the bar and had to wait a while before any of the bartenders were able to take our order. They have a quite extensive cocktail menu with a lot of unique, fun tropical drinks. We tried the following: - Torrance Bird: comes in a cute flamingo cup. I didn't quite love the flavors in this one though (mix of rum, campari, blood orange, pineapple, and lime). Wouldn't get this again. - El Diablo: came in a skull-shaped mug. It sounded like a tequila-based moscow mule but there was a lot of ginger and lime in there and the acidity/sourness really packed a punch! - Tropical Espresso Martini: delicious! I loved the tropical twist on the espresso martini with subtle coconut and pineapple flavors. I really enjoyed this one but I don't recommend it if you're trying to get a good night's sleep. It had me awake until 2 AM. LOL - The South Blue: this one was very well balanced and tasty. I would get this one again. It was a blend of white rum, corn whiskey, nixta elote liqueur, coconut, cinnamon, blue curacao, and pineapple. A male bartender made this one as well as the tropical espresso martini and those were the two that I liked better. Parking: free in plaza lot

Such great service here. It gets VERY packed. We ordered Pali Highway Sunset, Zombie Far Eastern Sour, Luau Scorpion, and a couple of shots. They make great drinks here. Pricing is fair. No food served here. Cute quaint place. Fun atmosphere. Lots of parking.

We stopped by late Saturday night and were able to snag an immediate walk-in at the bar at Hao Peng You, which is the intimate speakeasy portion of Midnight Oil. The decor definitely reminded me of my grandparents' house in Taiwan, with vintage, ornate wooden chairs, dragon/lion statue carvings, and even a historic century old marital bed that had been repurposed into a booth. The drinks were also VERY unique, with my favorite being Hua sheng (literally meaning peanut), which was crafted from a nostalgic childhood peanut milk drink. All our cocktails were crafted very well, to the point where I thought they were a bit on the lighter side since I couldn't really taste the alcohol. This section does get really busy though and only had one bartender who is making/serving drinks and taking orders, so do expect a bit of a wait. Overall, highly recommend checking out this vibey vintage Taiwanese-inspired speakeasy (that my inner history nerd was so excited about), and I'll definitely be back to try their food items as well as their two other bar/restaurant concepts!

I love everything about it--the nostalgia, the worn carpet, the old solid wood chairs, the smell, the smiles, the conversations, and even those seagulls waiting for food at the windows. Every bit of the atmosphere has its own charm. Give me all of it! That said, I want to focus on two things: the food and the service. Food The menu is classic and dependable, with a few daily specials mixed in. I get it...it may not be the most unforgettable meal you'll ever have, but it's consistently solid. The steaks come out with beautiful grill marks and great flavor. The baked potatoes are a 10/10and those giant Idaho russets are divine! The house salad is another winner, topped with house dressing, egg, and bay shrimp. Honestly, can I get all larger portion of this, please! The lobster has always been one of my dad's favorites. It's his go-to order, and he loves dipping every bite into that melted butter. Overall, I'd rate the food a 7.5/10. Good, satisfying, and exactly what I expect when I come here. Service Now let's talk about the service. In the dozen or more times I've dined here, I've never had a bad experience. But this last visit was truly unforgettable. Our waitress, Lora, was amazing in every way. Her smile, genuine care, and attention to detail didn't feel rehearsed or taught...it all came so naturally. She has a rare ability to make people feel welcomed and appreciated. Her kindness was so genuine that you wanted her to pull up a chair and join the conversation. She's that great. In all my years of dining out, I can honestly say she's in my top three servers of all time. Because of experiences like this, I'll continue to patronize Old Tony's despite any flaws it may have. For me, the positives far outweigh the negatives. A big thank you to Lora and the entire staff. Keep up the great work!

We parked in the multi-story parking garage behind Hamburger Mary's. Secret Island is a little over a block away. You can make reservations on OpenTable. It has a bit of a speakeasy entrance, as it is not plainly marked. Look for the staircase going down with greenery around it and the Secret Island sign downstairs. Go right at the bottom of the stairs and there is a little walkway where you see a very cool tiki display. It you stay there long enough, the lights will flash and you will hear thunder. Walk a little further and go through the door to enter. I was blown away by the atmosphere and build. Kudos to Bamboo Ben! It is dimly lit with a ton of cave wall, bamboo, thatch, netting, tiki lights, floats, skulls, tikis, and other décor. The bar is loaded with bottles and looks great with dark blue and green backlighting. The bar top is wood with deep cutouts that are filled with clear epoxy. The booths in the main dining area are little tiki huts and even have clouds overhead. There was great tiki music playing the whole time. A few times an hour a thunderstorm hits. The lights dim, lightning flashes with thunder sound effects, and red lights illuminate cracks in the floor that looks like lava veins. There is also a photo-op "Pele's Throne" which is a big lava rock surrounded chair. We sat at the bar and had the coconut shrimp appetizer ($12). The shrimp were breaded and cooked well, and had a coconut sprinkle on top. The spicy dipping sauce complemented the shrimp well. I started out with the Drunken Monkey (Makers Mark 46, Jamaican rum, banana liqueur, cinnamon, allspice, Angostura bitters, normally $19, $17 during happy hour). It was somewhat bourbon forward with a little funk from the Jamaican rum. I definitely got the cinnamon notes with a little banana and allspice in the background. She started out with the El Capitan Hook (Del Maguey mezcal, pineapple, banana liqueur, Luxardo cherry liqueur, lime, $17, $15 during happy hour). This was smoke forward with light pineapple and banana flavor. I had the Hula burger ($18) which was very good with a lot of different flavors from the various toppings. It came with a decent amount of fries, and was a filling plate. She had the pineapple bowl fried rice and added with BBQ pork ($17 + $5 for pork add-on). It is served in half of a scooped out pineapple and had a good amount of rice with pork and green onions on top. It had a good mix of teriyaki sauce on the rice and BBQ sauce on the pork. Next, I had the Rum Runner (coconut and blended dark rums, banana liqueur, raspberry, grenadine, pineapple, orange, lime, $18, $15 during happy hour). It was very pineapple and coconut forward which overpowered all of the other ingredients. She also had the Let That ManGo (white rhum agricole, coconut, mango, lemon, $18, $16 during happy hour). The primary flavors here were mango with some grassiness from the agricole. We were here from about 6pm to 8pm on a Wednesday night and it was pretty dead with only a few other people in the place the whole time. They do have a stage in the back with live music acts, so it is probably busier when there is entertainment and on weekends. Our first bartender was Alex who was nice but we barely talked with him. Manager Pedro took over the bartender duties later on and we had a great time chatting with him. Service was great from both of them. The drinks are a few dollars above average, but if you come during happy hour, the drinks are several dollars off. Happy hour is currently all day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, and Thursday through Saturday from 5pm to 8pm. The food was good, the drinks were ok to good, and the atmosphere was great. Normally, this would probably be a one and done, but I really liked the build and would like to come back when it is busier, maybe on a weekend.
