Was out in Hermosa meeting people for brunch, and Tiki Kai was literally across the street, so I made a quick reservation and we headed over after brunch to indulge in some tiki culture and libations. First, there is indoor and outdoor seating, so where you sit is up to you. But unsure is where all the decor and gives are, so I'd say drink indoors and enjoy the whole ambiance. If you choose to sit at the bar, some of the drinks come with a show, like a fire show, so if you're into that, or want fun videos to put on IG or Tik Tok, the bar may be the way to go. The drinks were, as tiki drinks tend to be, delicious. Great mixture of spirits with tropical juices, with other ingredients. They also just added the Monkey Pod Mai Tai, which the Money Pod is a restaurant bar in Maui known for their Mai Tai, which is topped with a lilikoi (passion fruit) foam. The PK HB is their version of a Painkiller, also very good. And the Ube Your Thirst, which I'm not really an Uber person, was very good, much better then I thought it would be. We also tried other cocktails, ask tasty and we'll balanced. Overall, if you're into tiki drinks, or just a fan of quality cocktails, and around Hermosa Beach, definitely stop by and grab a drink

It was our first time here while visiting hermosa beach. The vibe was cool, lots of skulls and decor as if your in Hawaii....great service as well. The appetizers were mid and very pricy, the food itself was very good. It's a family style menu and the portions are regular, for the cost they should give larger portions. It was overall a good experience but $18 drinks $50 appetizers, I wouldn't come back but would recommend for the experience

Ambiance - ok so have to say this is one of the coolest looking spot on the pier . The theme is amazing and they didn't skimp on the decor the whole tiki bar/lounge feel was spot on . Food- I actually didn't expect allot and thought it was more of a gimmick but boy was I surprised the food was amazing . The pupu platter we picked wings, crab raggon and shrimp . We also had French toast and garlic noodles which were probably some of the tastiest ever . Drinks - the drinks were really good . For drinks with cinnamon ask for no cinnamon or easy since they kind of go heavy on that . But other than that the drinks didn't disappoint . Over all the total experience was amazing

    Enjoy a drink!

If you want an experience, come here! I thoroughly enjoyed coming here. It was for a girlfriend's birthday and we loved the ambiance. The menu was delectable with a lot of different options. We started with pupus with the crispy rice with a slight spice taste, hamachi crudo, chicken karage, and firecracker shrimp. Then we had the garlic noodles with chicken, fried rice with shrimp and miso black cod. The drinks were super fun. I got the Hawaiian coffee and it was strong and nice with a bit of a kick. The food was good, drinks were fun, and ambiance is great! Christian and Rafa were really accommodating and helpful! Who doesn't love sitting outside with great service? Remember life is short, so make the most of every moment!!!

Huge tiki fan here and I've had Tiki Kai on my list for a bit. This is the prettiest, newest looking tiki bar I've ever been to. The attention to detail is beyond comparable - from the fixtures hanging above the bar, to the little details decorating the dining area and the lights behind the bar. Everything is so well thought out and fully instagrammable. The place is huge too with plenty of seating outside and in but you must at least sit inside once to appreciate all the effort put into the decor. We ordered a tiki drink, beer and the Crab Rangoon appetizer and the service was quick and friendly. The tiki drink, the Jet Pilot, was a rum drink that came out on fire. So fun! And the crab rangoons came out swimming in a sweet chili sauce that was perfect. We will come back for dinner next time. Parking is tough because you are at the pier but there is a free garage right behind the restaurant that you might get lucky enough to find a spot in. Otherwise, it's streets parking sweetie, but worth it in this case.

Angelna customer service as my waiter was superior. Any questions I asked was given a thorough answer as well as recommendations on the options I asked. She handled herself professionally around the crowd of ambiance and the food came out fast.

This is such a cute little place. I haven't been to Hermosa Beach in years but we came here to celebrate a friends bday, it was 9 of us. We had reservations for the indoor/outdoor fire pit at 6pm but we weren't seated until almost 630pm. The host said Saturday is one of their busiest nights so be prepared for that if you plan on being a walk-in. It was pretty packed. However, even with it being crowded the attentiveness of the servers was superb. Now the food. We got 2 pupu platters. You have the option of 5 items or 3 items. You have a wide variety of things you can put on the pupu platters which we appreciated. We had wings, shrimp, ribs, & crispy rice. We also ordered additional sides like fries, cucumbers, and garlic noodles. I also had the tuna bowl and another friend had a burger. All the food was good. Most everything on the menu is designed to be shared so that worked out for it being 9 of us. We also had drinks and they were good. For those who don't drink alcohol the mocktails are also really good. Something for everyone.

For the names but they were good

The most gorgeous interior. I really want to make a reservation next time, because I didn't get lucky with interior seating. We had three cocktails. Our first two were better and more balanced (ube your thirst & jet pilot). At $16, the last one (fisherman's son) my boyfriend got was disappointing. The huli huli chicken was tasty.

I went on a date here with my boyfriend, we had a reservation at 5pm. Arrived early to check in and was seated by 5pm. When we were seated we did not receive service for 15 minutes until we contacted a host about this issue, immediately he resolved this and got us our server. The drinks are tasty, the food was good. I was kind of expecting an edamame to be on the menu as an appetizer, might be a nice addition to add because the menu felt like it was missing some things. My sole whip drink was perfectly frozen and stayed cold long a the perfect consistency. The indoor dining room is decorated nicely. I wish the service was better in the beginning of our time here, we ended up having to extend our parking time due to the delay. I do appreciate the staff taking attention to our concern when we expressed our concerns, they were apologetic.

Drove out to my friends and we walked to tiki Kai which is right next to the pier. Wow what a cool vibe and the place is so well decorated too. My friend got an old fashion and loved it. We both got the steak and eggs and it was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly. Service was attentive and friendly. Can't wait to go back and try their dinner menu next time.

    Love the ladies restroom!

Came here for dinner. Huge party going on outside so we were happy to be seated inside--- so gorgeously decorated, like at Disney but better!! Our server was amazing!!! Super attentive and just very pleasant, just like the rest of the staff who brought out our food.( sorry I forgot her name.. it's 2 days later :( ) Cool music played in the background too. As we had eaten a large lunch ( here earlier, long story!!) we were still full and didn't want to cancel our second reservation -and wanted to experience more. We ordered the miso black cod-- omg, so light and tender and delicious!!!! To compliment that we had the veggie fried rice- so so good too!! Amazing food and service here. Hubby purchased a cool tiki mug for his collection, but returned it after he saw the charge-$85 way overpriced no matter how detailed it was --even Disney charges $55 but at least you get a drink inside! ( this was our only issue).

    Courtney B.

Ummm just want to say the absolute best tiki bar ever!!! Love the staff here, Angela was my waitress and she was literally the sweetest most angelic person ever the food is also soooo delicious!! I got the garlic noodles, crab rangoons and Huli huli chicken skewers, all of them are 10/10 Parking is in the lot by chase bank Will def be coming back!

When we arrived, the entrance was constantly blocked by the hostess and security chatting. One staff member told me to head to the bar to order, but security then acted like I was doing something wrong. A little communication between staff would go a long way. At the bar, I was skipped twice while waiting to order. When I pointed it out, the bartender told me to "hold on" while assisting a 3rd walk up after me. I asked if we could move to an open table with table service as there were many empty for ghe hour we had already been there and was told no because they were too busy. Fair enough, but that's exactly when management should be visible, coordinating staff and helping guests. Instead, when I spoke with a manager, the response was essentially that he was focused on the bar area. Good management oversees the entire operation, especially during peak periods. I was one of 5 people in our party who spent around $100 on food and drinks (apx $500 spent in total), yet the service was a mess. If it's self-service, that's fine...but make it clear and make it work. Instead, I was skipped at the bar while ordering, staff gave conflicting directions, and there was virtually no support once we had our food. We found ourselves constantly going back and forth to the bar for drinks, utensils, soy sauce, and anything else we needed. No one checked in, and getting help from staff or management was nearly impossible. The food was decent, but the customer experience wasn't. Venice Beach is always busy. This shouldn't come as a surprise. If you're going to market yourself as part of that vibrant community, you need the operational standards to match.

I also loved the inner circle drink, it was coconutty and had fruity elements like apricot in it. There are so many drinks on their menu, we wish we could try them all! We'll have to come back next time to try more. They also have food but we didn't have time to try any dishes this time.

Please stop it with the gimmicky flare, smoke and song and focus on making better tasting drinks. I ordered a Painkiller and it was stuffed with charred cinnamon sticks and a lime on fire that made my drink taste awful. They staff were nice enough to comp my drink, but to be honest the drinks are never good or balanced. There are much better tiki bars in LA, and I recommend you go elsewhere for a really good cocktail.

After our party of six chatted over cocktails and preyed on pupus, we moved to a "secret" room tucked in the back of Stowaway and walked into a Belly Of The Beast. The founders and co-owners of Stowaway, Leonard Chan and Dominic Iapello, created this extension to the tiki bar with a wildly interesting Pinocchio theme and the famed encounter with Monstro the whale all the while serving the same offerings in Stowaway but with also an exclusive limited menu just for this adventure. With its proximity to Disneyland and its Enchanted Tiki Room, with the very niche underground-like society of tiki culture they found a consistent customer base and the thrill of island escapism through colorful cocktails, pleasurable pupus, tropical trimmings, and nostalgic know-how. How would my belly handle the beastly drinks concocted here!? PURCHASE(S) Gepetto's Last Words ($16.00): Intrigued by the cocktail's name, this elixir was crafted with Fid Street Gin, tangerine, creme de violette, lemon, and cucumber, it was a citrusy refreshing sweet drink that was decorated with bright yellow petals. It was nice, but for whatever reason it just didn't quite hit the spot. [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 4.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($9.00): A decent portion with rings of medium to large sizes, these were hot, dark golden browned, crunchy, and had a slight tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (sweet Maui!) rarely pulled out at times. They were lightly oily while the catsup wasn't needed but used. SERVICE While in Stowaway, we informed our male server to let us know when we were allowed to enter the belly. Once inside and situated, we had the place and bartender to ourselves. After we all perused the menu, we placed our orders, and everything arrived within ten minutes. The rest of the time was spent chatting, picture taking, and our bartender checked in on us also giving a Dole Whip taster. All was casual, chill, and somewhat on island time - aloha and mahalo! PARKING (FREE): They shared a medium-sized private lot with several other businesses who were closed at this time with plenty of spots - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE "Hidden" inside Stowaway which was located within a strip mall, the entire theme was based on the Pinocchio story, the interlude in time spent inside Monstro, and as we entered it felt like the beginning of the Disneyland "Storybook" ride as you road a canal boat into the mouth and sharp teet of a whale. There were several marionettes (appropriate and non-appropriate) that hung from the ceiling and belly walls, along with other Disneyesque memorabilia, a few sitting booths, and a tiny bar at the end of the roo. No natural lighting whatsoever while an assortment of extremely low-lit electric lights and table candles glowed. There were no TVs while I couldn't recall any background music. ATTIRE Although I was actually dressed appropriately for the occasion in an aloha shirt, linen pants, and flip-flops, this place was totally casual, so a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops would suffice. OVERALL Belly Of The Beast was an adventurous fun evening with friends, it left me feeling childlike with the need to watch "Pinocchio", and I couldn't wait to return to try more of their awesome-soundling elixirs. I generally loved all-things Disneyana, and this new wrinkle, albeit probably not approved by the mouse ears brass, caught my fancy. My one drink was tasty but just didn't hit the right spot, the onion rings were very good, the prices were a tad elevated, the atmosphere was awesome, and the service was friendly and professional. They had an extremely limited menu, and there was some doubt whether or not ordering from the Stowaway menu was an option. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $27.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Drinks: Really, really good. My absolute favorite was the boat drink with foam on top, but we split several others and I liked everything we tried. Vibe: Unmatched. There are several drinks on the menu with a theatrical presentation that gets the whole bar involved. The space is small, so you'll inevitably have your conversation interrupted by an alluring siren's call or some ceremonial rowers. This is a crucial part of the tiki experience for me. The bartenders all have their different spin and clearly are in it for the love of the game. We had a lot of fun chatting with the staff. Food: I ate 2 orders of soup dumplings and probably could have bodied down 5 more. They were ridiculously good, but prohibitively expensive.

I didn't fancy the flavor and this is a very popular drink so it stinks up the place every time it gets served to someone. Dark Magic $18 - Objectively not a bad drink but too tart for my partner and I didn't prefer the flavor. Service 5/5 Standard service. Our waitress got us some free shots, very kind. :) Ambiance 4/5 I love the vibes, the darkness, the decor. It's just too stinky and smokey whenever they serve the Painkiller.

I love everything about it--the nostalgia, the worn carpet, the old solid wood chairs, the smell, the smiles, the conversations, and even those seagulls waiting for food at the windows. Every bit of the atmosphere has its own charm. Give me all of it! That said, I want to focus on two things: the food and the service. Food The menu is classic and dependable, with a few daily specials mixed in. I get it...it may not be the most unforgettable meal you'll ever have, but it's consistently solid. The steaks come out with beautiful grill marks and great flavor. The baked potatoes are a 10/10and those giant Idaho russets are divine! The house salad is another winner, topped with house dressing, egg, and bay shrimp. Honestly, can I get all larger portion of this, please! The lobster has always been one of my dad's favorites. It's his go-to order, and he loves dipping every bite into that melted butter. Overall, I'd rate the food a 7.5/10. Good, satisfying, and exactly what I expect when I come here. Service Now let's talk about the service. In the dozen or more times I've dined here, I've never had a bad experience. But this last visit was truly unforgettable. Our waitress, Lora, was amazing in every way. Her smile, genuine care, and attention to detail didn't feel rehearsed or taught...it all came so naturally. She has a rare ability to make people feel welcomed and appreciated. Her kindness was so genuine that you wanted her to pull up a chair and join the conversation. She's that great. In all my years of dining out, I can honestly say she's in my top three servers of all time. Because of experiences like this, I'll continue to patronize Old Tony's despite any flaws it may have. For me, the positives far outweigh the negatives. A big thank you to Lora and the entire staff. Keep up the great work!

The best part of Strong Water is the immersive experience you feel sitting inside. We sat in the Captain's quarters which was an intimate spot for great conversation. Our waiter was very friendly and gave plenty of options. We opted for the Crispy Tuna Appetizer which unfortunately was not good at all. The tuna and toppings were okay but the crispy rice tasted like fried fair food almost with the texture of a rice cake. Hopefully, their other dishes are better. For drinks, the waiter helped select the Banana Batida for me which was very lovely! I love how customized the recommendations were. My partner ordered a rum drink which he enjoyed as well. We finished off with a brownie dessert. I really enjoyed the passion fruit puree and kiwi topping. The brownie tasted good but was very dense which isn't my preference. Overall, would recommend.
