Tiki Kai is an amazing restaurant! Their drinks are all spectacular! Very flavorful, and they have a list of drinks that are "stronger" too, which is neat. Food was all great, don't even remember what we ordered since we ordered a bunch of different things. Service was also on point from beginning to end. I would ask to sit inside because it's got some really cool decor. They killed it with the tiki vibes for sure.

This is such a cute little place. I haven't been to Hermosa Beach in years but we came here to celebrate a friends bday, it was 9 of us. We had reservations for the indoor/outdoor fire pit at 6pm but we weren't seated until almost 630pm. The host said Saturday is one of their busiest nights so be prepared for that if you plan on being a walk-in. It was pretty packed. However, even with it being crowded the attentiveness of the servers was superb. Now the food. We got 2 pupu platters. You have the option of 5 items or 3 items. You have a wide variety of things you can put on the pupu platters which we appreciated. We had wings, shrimp, ribs, & crispy rice. We also ordered additional sides like fries, cucumbers, and garlic noodles. I also had the tuna bowl and another friend had a burger. All the food was good. Most everything on the menu is designed to be shared so that worked out for it being 9 of us. We also had drinks and they were good. For those who don't drink alcohol the mocktails are also really good. Something for everyone.

I went on a date here with my boyfriend, we had a reservation at 5pm. Arrived early to check in and was seated by 5pm. When we were seated we did not receive service for 15 minutes until we contacted a host about this issue, immediately he resolved this and got us our server. The drinks are tasty, the food was good. I was kind of expecting an edamame to be on the menu as an appetizer, might be a nice addition to add because the menu felt like it was missing some things. My sole whip drink was perfectly frozen and stayed cold long a the perfect consistency. The indoor dining room is decorated nicely. I wish the service was better in the beginning of our time here, we ended up having to extend our parking time due to the delay. I do appreciate the staff taking attention to our concern when we expressed our concerns, they were apologetic.

The most gorgeous interior. I really want to make a reservation next time, because I didn't get lucky with interior seating. We had three cocktails. Our first two were better and more balanced (ube your thirst & jet pilot). At $16, the last one (fisherman's son) my boyfriend got was disappointing. The huli huli chicken was tasty.

This is the newer place at the Hermosa pier I really like Hawaiian food. I wanted to check it out so the wife and I went. The inside of this place is really cool. Definitely different than any other place around town. We really like the interior and the ambience of the bar scene and the decor. They have a nice patio to eat outside. Would be very nice in the summertime to sit and have a drink. We tried a few things, I think the biggest point of this place is the drinks. They have a lot of interesting drinks that are really tasty. Definitely go there just to have a drink and check out the interior. Our bartender was great, suggested things and gave us good tips for ordering. She was very nice. She made our drinks really well, definitely helped us. We chose some food options that worked out. Everything here is alla-cart, so this place is definitely not cheap and you don't get a lot of food for the money. But quality is definitely good. We tried the huli huli chicken( kind of over priced for what you get but tasted ok ) , the garlic noodles, which were really good and the tuna bowl. All of our food was good, like I said before not a lot of food for the price, but the food is definitely well-made and very tasty. I'm not sure we would come back here all that often, just because of the cost, but it is a neat place and definitely worth going to.

Great new addition to the area! Loved the ambiance, tiki vibes to the max!! Definitely stop by and give it a try. We came in yesterday for some drinks and appetizers. They have tons of fun drink options, we all loved what we got! Our server was great and she gave us lots of details on all the drinks offered so we could all pick something we enjoyed. The mai tai is very strong so if you're looking for less of a tropical forward drink and stronger drink taste this is for you!! I recommend the Chief Lapu Lapu if you like more of a tangy fruity drink. The passion fruit and orange flavor definitely covered up the liquor in that one lol! Lychee martini was also really good if you want a sweet drink. We tried the 3 appetizer plate and it was great! We loved the dynamite shrimp and the chicken karaage! Definitely would order both of those again. The only item we didn't enjoy was the wings, very dry and flavorless. Would absolutely come back for a couple rounds of drinks and some more tasty bites:)

Incredible, immersive decor and fantastic location along the Manhattan Beach pier. Review is mainly for the drinks, which were overly sweet and weren't as balanced as at the drinks at the best tiki bars (e.g., Strongwater) - though it may have just been an off night. Food was solid though not standout. Friendly and attentive service.

My watered down skinny spicy Margarita and fire shrimp app.

3 stars for the Tiki bar decor, atmosphere and vibe. Food and drinks were overpriced, for what you get !! Speaking of drinks, our drinks were not strong. Very watered down. Service was good however. I won't be back ! !

Riptide Revenant ($18) - Rhum, Cognac, Grapefruit, Clove, Cinnamon & Spices - Dangerously delicious...will likely be a go-to

Another fantastic experience at Tiki Kai! The boy and I had 4pm dinner reservations yesterday and were seated at a high top right across the middle of the magnificent bar; perfect seats and another time being serviced by the amazing Kelly who is super helpful, kind and super attentive. The boy ordered a virgin Wavemaker (Blue Hawaii) and I had a Navy Grog and Revenant (my go-to even if more of a Speakeasy drink but amazing). Great drinks and as always, incredible replenishment of water and we drink a lot of water! For dinner, we shared the crispy rice with spicy tuna appetizer ($23 and awesome) and the Oahu Burger ($19) with fermented gochu aioli & grilled pineapple on a brioche bun. We ordered the burger rare and it was really, really good. The boy and I felt there could have been a little more pineapple and gochu aioli on it but it was freakin delicious all the same. Maybe make sure to ask for extra aioli. We certainly had enough to eat but maybe I could have used a french fry or two also...the burger does not come with them. Burgers need fries, amiright? The staff was amazing as mentioned and even the manager Ronnie remembered us from prior visits (I mean, I was wearing a Fez so...) and Raphael was awesome. Long live the amazing Tiki Kai!

First off, make a reservation. It was packed when we arrived. We waited maybe 20ish minutes after we checked in for our reservation. We had a lovely outdoor table. The decorations are nice and the inside is crazy cool. Next time I'll request inside seating. Food was outstanding. We ordered the appetizer sampler with 3 options, the garlic noodles, and the pork chop. For the 3 "pupus" we got crispy rice (YUM) sticky ribs (YUMM) and firecracker shrimp (YUUMM) I could eat the whole thing by myself. I might actually next time I go. Order the Dole Whip and the Puca Punch for a good time.

I came with my partner for our anniversary dinner on 4/19/26. The experience was a 10/10 from start to finish. Host staff was attentive and friendly, and our Server was professional and knowledgeable on the menu. I wish I remembered her name! We sat in the corner 2top facing the bar. The bartender was also friendly and recommended the Navy Grog! The indoor decor is breathtaking. There is intention in every detail and we felt transported to Hawaii. It is so difficult for a restaurant to hit every mark, food, ambiance and service, but these guys have it down! Can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu :)

The ambiance is very cool with fabulous decor. Our server Savannah was really sweet and provided good service. Their giant tiki drink "mates and crew" is delicious and perfectly balanced between alcohol and flavor. Food however is not great. While the octopus was tender, the hummus was gritty and watery and the seasoning just wasn't there. I've had something similar at other restaurants, but Tiki Kai missed the mark. The rice lacks flavor other than a cheap butter substitute, this felt as though it had been boxed. The fries were good, but fries are difficult to get wrong. I think this is a good place for drinks and vibes, get dinner before elsewhere.

Tiki Kai absolutely ruined normal restaurants for us. This place is less "dinner" and more "tropical fever dream with incredible cocktails." Alex set the tone the second we arrived. You pass through the ultimate beachy outdoor vibe, pull open the oversized doors, and suddenly you're swallowed into this dark, immersive tiki escape where the rum flows freely and responsibilities quietly die in the corner. The cocktails were phenomenal -- the kind of drinks that arrive on fire and make you think buying a boat is financially responsible. The Hawaiian-inspired food was outstanding, with mains and shareable sides that paired perfectly. And Koby? Absolute legend. She guided us through the menu flawlessly with recommendations that never missed. Trust her completely. Tiki Kai exceeds expectations in every way. Amazing atmosphere, killer food, unforgettable drinks, and a vibe so good you'll keep chasing it like a surfer looking for the perfect endless wave.

If you don't feel like a tiki drink they also have a few beers on tap or canned. PAINKILLER: Pussers navy rum, Pussers gunpowder rum, Goslings 151, coconut, pineapple, orange, bitters. And Hubbers suggested this place for a late-ish lunch because he's been here before and had a positive experience. Outdoor seating only since we had the furballs. We had our choice of where since we were the only customers on a late lunch hour. Servers were so patient with our pups (even when they were moody - my apologies!) and were even nice enough to bring them water bowls! It was a cool and cloudy day, but that didn't damper anything. In fact, we appreciated it coming off the heat wave from the last couple of weeks! Everything on their menu looked so good, it took me awhile to decide. But Hubbers and I agreed on the Kayak Tide Tray (+4 extra oysters) and the charred watermelon salad. In the meanwhile, I battled between lobster pasta and five dragon pastrami. (The pasta won out.) Hubbers went for the cedar planked Ora king salmon. And a couple of cocktails to wash it all down! KAYAK TIDE TRAY: The seasoned scallops were my favorites, hands down. The sauce was fantastic and didn't overpower the scallops' main essence. The oysters were shucked fresh and the sauces elevated the flavors a bit. Shrimps were chilled tender and had a nice chew. Cocktail sauce added flavor. The mussels? Sad to say, but half of them were served still frozen hard. So we took our time with it and let it thaw out which didn't happen until we were halfway our meal. Overall: excellent. CHARRED WATERMELON: This plate was so well put together! And not only is it pleasing to the eyes (nice touch with the micros!), it was the same with the palate. Watermelon was fresh. Charred only on one side (I'm curious what it would be like if they charred ALL the sides - will make this request - only if possible - next time!) Taking bites from each component of this salad makes all the difference: the acidity of the tomatoes are tempered by the burrata and the cucumbers, and the freshness of the watermelon makes it all refreshing. The onions added a bit of tart, as did the pomegranates. Didn't notice any macadamia nuts, but no matter! This is a must have! LOBSTER PASTA: Didn't happen... see below. LOBSTER ROLL: Served along with Hubbers' salmon plate (more on that later.) We had a different server at this point (our first one told us he was going on his break.) I thought Hubbers put in an order of this too, so I moved the plate to his side. Our server noticed this and said, "Are you sharing? Would you like an extra plate?" Hubbers confirmed he didn't other this. And that neither did I, but we are waiting on the lobster pasta. He then explained they are out of that dish, "was this not related to you?" Long story short, I told him I'd take the roll, no biggie. He offered to comp it, and if I like, I can put in another order. So I went for the pastrami. And as we waited for that, Hubbers and I split this and WOW. Bread was toasted and buttered perfect, generous with the amount of lobster, plating was a delight to the eyes, and overall delicious. I appreciated the aroma of the tarragon. Yum! FIVE DRAGON PASTRAMI: This is a generous serving, plenty to share with another. Lots of flavors with each bite but the well-seasoned and flavored pastrami dominates them all. The slaw was strong but the subtleness of the lappi balanced it out. Sourdough was perfectly toasted. I thought about not ordering this since I knew the lobster roll might have been enough, but I'm sure glad I went for it! Delish! Hubbers let me have a couple of bites off his salmon plate and O.M.G.!!! He sure picked a good one! Skin was seasoned crispy and the fish was so moist! This is probably one of the best versions of salmon I've had. (For the record, I rarely order anything salmon since 90-95% of the time, they're served dry, but this one here, I'd highly recommend.) FOOD: 4.75. SERVICE: 5. They were AMAZING!!! VALUE: 4. Given the location, pricing is understandable. But worth it. PARKING: Street/Structure only. All metered. And getting here will require a bit of a walk depending on where you parked. OVERALL: 4.5. Plans on coming back here with more people is now in the works. Looking forward to doing that soon!

She's Belles Beach House! Each dish arriving at our table was presented in a beautiful way, flavor upon flavor with every bite, and the atmosphere was very inviting, including excellent customer service!

I have always loved tiki bars because I love themed experiences. But recently, that love has ramped…read moreup a notch. I've been going to them more and more, and The Lucky Tiki was one I definitely had to try out. First off, I have to praise 1933 group because I have loved every single bar they have revitalized and this one is no different. In keeping with their MO, The Lucky Tiki is a speakeasy with a vintage vibe. I won't give away how to get in but let's just say, it's near the front of Highland Park Bowl. My husband and I didn't have a reservation, but we were able to put our name in and got seated about an hour or so later. I was amazed as soon as I walked in the door! It's just floor to ceiling decorated with everything tiki. So many fun details and even interactive elements that turn on when a particular drink was ordered. That was probably my favorite part honestly. We ordered the Tiki Diablo, which is a large tiki drink with a flaming volcano. And yes it does have an interactive element. It was really good. Very fruity and strong, but not overly so. Service was excellent. Our waitress was on it and even waited to make sure my husband was back from the bathroom before lighting our drink on fire. We didn't try any food this time, but a lot of people were ordering the Hawaiian pizza. Do with that what you may. Will definitely be back ti try more drinks and food. Was the perfect spot for a lively date night!

We attended a special Chartreuse tasting event at Strong Water which was being held in honor of…read moreChartreuse week and Chartreuse Day 1605 (May 16), the annual celebration of Chartreuse's origins and history. The tasting featured a great lineup of green and yellow Chartreuse paired with small bites. It concluded with a complementary Chartreuse-based cocktail from one of five recipes. Brand ambassador Taylor guided the event and began by telling us about the unique history of Chartreuse. The tasting started out with a small spoonful of Vegetal Elixir Chartreuse to warm up the palate. This is the base spirit of both green and yellow Chartreuse and clocks in at 138 proof. It was surprisingly not harsh, but immediately kicked my salivary glands into overdrive. I didn't even know that vintages of Chartreuse was a thing, but Taylor walked us through tasting three different vintages of both yellow and green Chartreuse, and it was surprising how different they were. The lineup concluded with more rare varietals of the green elixir 1605 and yellow cuvee. Great job, thanks Taylor! Chef Kling presented each small bite which included a crispy Icelandic cod, a roasted beet crostino, and a lamb slider. All of them had a five star list of ingredients and were delicious. Strong Water is known for their excellent cocktails, but their food is also great. For my cocktail at the end of the event, I had the Bar Flower (Green Chartreuse, Crème de Cacao, Pineapple, Lime). This was so good, with the herbal and chocolate flavors perfectly balanced. It was served with a flaming lime half. This was such a great event! Chartreuse retails for around $100 a bottle, and the higher-end varieties cost even more. At just $45 per person, this event was an amazing bargain. Strong Water frequently hosts great events, so keep an eye on their social media for upcoming dates. I really love Chartreuse, so I went back a few days later on the last day of Chartreuse week to try a few of the other limited time cocktails. I started out with their twist on a Grasshopper (Chartreuse, Crème de Menthe, Chili Liqueur, Crème de Cacao, Cream, Cane, $22). This was a great classic Grasshopper, but the Chartreuse added a herbal complexity, and there is a dash of heat on the finish from the chili liqueur. Next I had the Flare Gun (Yellow Chartreuse, Overproof Rum, Italian Bitter, Lime, Cane, $20). The yellow Chartreuse definitely comes through, but it's softer and has a light sweetness, unlike the green variety. Even though it contains overproof rum, it is perfectly balanced and not boozy at all. I usually don't like bitter drinks, but the bitterness was at a perfect light level. I finished off with the Tales from the Black Lagoon which is my favorite drink here, and it's also a favorite of many of the bartenders. All three cocktails were a home run. Chartreuse is an expensive spirit, so those drinks cost a little more than average. Shout out to Karen, Joey, Edgar, Jordan, and Ying for excellent hospitality, as always. Strong Water is our favorite place. We can't wait to go back!
