I hired DAS Furniture Assembly & Installation to assemble a new wardrobe in my bedroom. Scheduling the appointment was fairly easy, and they were responsive at first. However, on the day of the service, they arrived later than the agreed time without much notice, which was a bit frustrating since I had planned my day around it. The wardrobe was eventually assembled and it looks fine overall, but I did notice that one of the doors wasn't properly aligned and didn't close as smoothly as it should. I had to point it out, and they made a small adjustment, but it still doesn't feel perfectly fitted. The job felt somewhat rushed toward the end.I wouldn't say the service was bad, but it also wasn't as polished as I expected. A bit more attention to detail and better time management would really improve the overall experience. Hopefully they take feedback positively and work on these areas moving forward. read more

I do not have enough space to express how impressed I am with the professionalism of Dean (owner of DAS). Suffice it to say that on this Thanksgiving holiday I give thanks for good and honest people such as him. To sum it up, the central metal support legs for a CalKing bedframe were so poorly designed that they broke off, leaving the center of the bed sagging and unsupported. I put in a work request via Yelp and Dean responded even on Thanksgiving, came over the very next day and efficiently fixed the problem. This required him to design a new frame within the original headboard and footboard, despite the side boards being of poor quality material. He carefully measured out the bedframe, estimated the cost, purchased the wood and created the frame all within 4 hours. The frame is so much more sturdy and high quality than before and provides excellent support. I highly recommend this company to anyone who m me at need a fantastic handyman at a fair price. Dean and his assistant Gabe worked on not only doing the assembly of our ikea wadrobe but added moulding trim, making it flush and fastened it to the wall. This is custom quality work there were no surprise fees. They checked in with us along the way to make sure they were creating our vision. I needed to remove some light fixtures and install others, hang 2 hanging chairs, and paint a piece of furniture. Dean and Derek were amazing, from start to finish. Dean came out quickly to look at the items and give an estimate, and his estimate came quickly. It was also very competitive with the other quotes we received. So we went with him, and he was available to do the job soon after. They did a great job - super meticulous. Dean even used lasers to make sure everything was perfectly straight. Dean and Derek stayed late since the job was a bit more complicated than they initially thought, and they even came back the next day briefly to finish up some things. For the swinging chairs, our designer found them and bought them on our behalf, but there were zero instructions. The metal attachments weren't even included - apparently the manufacturer's policy was "every house is different - your contractor will figure it out". So, given zero guidance, Dean did just that - he figured out exactly what we needed, bought it, and got it done. He then proceeded to hang from the attachment himself to show us how strong it was, before attaching the chairs to it. There was a time where I even felt a little bad, and as Dean was working on a detail that was very minor, I told him it didn't matter and he could move on. He said no, that he has standards for himself, and he's going to make sure to do it right. In hindsight, I'm glad that he said that, because we sure do appreciate the attention to detail he put into our home. He's the first contractor we've had out at our new home in Westchester, and I'm sure we'll keep using him for more projects in the future. read more

I read the other reviews for Dean and went with him, and I'm so glad that I did! I also cannot recommend him highly enough. My bathroom sink demounted from the counter, and it was a job that other contractors were refusing to do. The others told me that it wasn't worth the effort. They were either upcharging me a ridiculous amount or just flat out telling me they don't do jobs like this. Dean was quick to respond and came to fix my sink in the same week! He was fast and the job was done beautifully. You wouldn't know that it ever came off the counter. Not only that but he's also cleaned up after and came back the next day to check my sink's condition. His price was very reasonable for the quality of his work. After a power surge broke our dishwasher, we ordered a replacement from Home Depot and paid for the Home Depot pros to remove our old dishwasher and replace it with a new one. The soonest appointment we could schedule for was over a week away. When the dishwasher and pros finally arrived, the pros declared that the job was outside their scope, because the old dishwasher was resting on a platform. They left the new dishwasher sitting in our kitchen and the old, broken one still sitting installed. We had guests coming to stay with us shortly thereafter, and we were desperate to get the new dishwasher installed. I called a couple handymen I found on Yelp. Dean had a full day already, but when I explained the situation he said he would find a way to come help. Sure enough, Dean arrived with an assistant later that evening and installed our new dishwasher. This was a couple months ago, and I'm happy to report that the new dishwasher works great and was clearly installed correctly. Dean is immensely capable. Not only did he remove the old dishwasher and install the new one, he also diagnosed some other plumbing issues we had, leaving the rest of our kitchen better than he found it. The wiring of our old dishwasher was old fashioned, but it was no problem for him. His prices were reasonable, and he paid great attention to detail in making sure the dishwasher was level on its platform and wouldn't wobble. Dean is the man! First day in my new studio apartment and dean turned my vision for my space into something even more awesome. There was a ton of wall shelving, curtain rods brackets, and there was a tv mounting. Dean even created me a custome support bracket for my closet rod to support all my clothes. My closet rod was bending under the weight of my clothes, buts that's fixed. Literally step outside my apartment drilled and cut a piece of wood into that support bracket. Genius!!.
