The cafe also offers alcoholic ice creams and if you want to try multiple flavors then you can order a flight. I did not like the alcoholic ice creams. This place was truly amazing. The owners are the second best thing in this Ice Cream Parlor because the ice cream is freaking amazing. Don't waste your time on the strip in Helen for store bought ice cream and head over to DAS. They have ADULT ice cream, yes boozy ice cream! They have kid stuff too!!! I had the Honey Bourbon vanilla and my wife had the Rudesheimer and both were very delicious. Fiancé ordered the Reese's cup ice cream in a waffle cone, and I ordered the Mint To Be in a waffle cone. They also offer sugar cones. At first I thought Mint to Be was a mint chocolate chip flavor, but it turns out it was a blending of Peppermint patties mixed in with the ice cream. They had unique flavors, such as a 'spaghetti' flavor, and they have alcohol-infused flavors as well. I always appreciate freshly handcrafted and churned ice cream, and the mint ice cream was tasty and unique. read more

Das Ice Cream ist wunderbar! For sure the best joint in town. It is hidden a little bit in the back from the main downtown scene of Helen but it is located behind a motel and is next to spice 55. They have so many flavors to choose from half of the menu is regulars flavors (not sure that regular works to describe them though because they all sounded unique and equally as mouthwatering) and the other half of the board is alcohol infused flavors! I tried the "Naughty Otter" which was a mocha infused with Irish cream and it was so spot on. You could really taste every note. My friends I went with also tried some of the regular flavors, letting me have a lick and I must say this is some of the best ice cream I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. Next time I will be most defiantly trying a flight of ice cream to get in more flavor sampling and the best part is they give out stamp cards to save up for a free large ice cream, shake, float, or sundae after 10 visits. It might be two hours from Atlanta but it is sooo worth it! I am very much wishing we had one of these closer. read more

Would have liked to try this place, but they closed an hour early. All their hours on the website says they are open until 7:00 PM and their door says the same thing, but they had left for the day. They need to update hours for customers on Facebook and on their store front. read more

The people who own this establishment are wonderful and take pride in their product. We were there a few minutes after they closed and sadly walked away but the owner came out and insisted that we come in! We didnt want to impose but I am glad we did. We had a chance to visit this delightful shop this week. It's located in Helen, GA and is very special. They make their own ice cream on the premises with recipes being created, tweaked and fine tuned. It is actually churned there in the shop with an extremely innovative system. There are many flavor choices from the good old standards to wonderful fun flavors to "adult flavors" that include liquor. ( but not overpowering) What's not to like?? The owners are a great couple, very helpful and answered the many questions about their products. They are very hardworking to make this shop a hit in an extremely busy town with many other choices. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I walked in to get ice cream for myself and my two boys. I stood at the counter and the lady never even made eye contact with me to acknowledge my presence. She did not say "I'll be with you a moment" or "hello we're running behind". Nothing, did not say a word, I waited for 10 minutes at the counter as my boys were getting restless and the Owner made a rude comment to me about my children but never even offered to get our order. Then a customer came in behind us and said oh they were first and the lady helped the customer behind us before she ever acklowdeging us. I ended up waiting for 15 minutes with no one ever acknowledging my presence except for the rude owner who commented on my children and I walked out without getting any ice cream at all. Instead we went to scoops and had a wonderful experience. I will never go to DAS ice cream again I will always go to alternate place in Helen where customer service is valued. ---Dr. Heid Beck Just because you are short staffed does not mean you and your crew have to be RUDE. Perhaps in the future if you see children getting restless because they have been waiting for 17 minutes with no one offering to assist them, YOU should get off of your ass and take an order, rather than criticize a family. So that way the children can get their ice cream and eat it outside of your store, without causing disruption. I am guessing your tables got ruined by UNRULY children in the past because no one was offering to assist them with an order! read more
