This is a my neighborhood go-to joint for Greek takeout. They are quick and efficient at getting your meal ready. Sometimes they even have a sweet Groupon deal, which is how I first decided to give this place a try. I like the falafel gyro, lamb gyro, mixed souvlaki kabobs plate, spanakopita, hummus, dolmathes, and fried zucchini sticks. Any of the plates come with a choice of 2 sides. I always get the Greek salad and then it's a toss up between fries or lemon rice. They make a decent Dask's burger too. This place isn't the most stellar Greek place that I have visited. Sometimes the falafel can be crumbly and the souvlaki may be a bit dry. However, they are closest Greek place to my house and they are fast and affordable. Ordered without onions, yet it tasted like it had been doused in onions as it cooked. The meat in the burger was rather tough. Somewhat of a regular here, mainly because it's close. The reviews that mention the over cooked or dried out meat are correct. They really could use some improvement on that. Gyro meat and hamburger meat especially. The bread, and slalds are good and fresh and I quite like their fries when I allow myself to have some. I've now ordered food a few times from here on uber eats. One, because I'm a big fan of gyros, and two, because it is relatively fast, and cheap all things considered. I don't love it. I don't even think I'd really recommend it. The gyro is just mediocre. I find it to be a bit too dry, and while the flavor is good, the dryness is just a huge turnoff. I'm a fan of succulent, delicious, melt in your mouth gyro meat, and I wanted so badly for this to be it....I have to come to terms that it is not. Lemon rice is bomb though, and perhaps that's why I've looked past the subpar gyros. I like it a lot, and they are quite generous with serving sizes. It's hard...but Dasks just really isn't for me. I can get some truly knockout lunch specials on uber eats, and so I've officially retired this as an option. read more

Dasks offers decent quality though is lacking an authentic "Greek" taste. If you want Greek food in cottonwood then it's your only option. They state they are "run by a Greek guy" though you really cannot tell from the results produced by the kitchen. For example: Don't use bagged iceberg salad mix for a Greek salad and then soak it in dressing. Take a bit more time to do it right and include the ingredients you would expect to find in one, like olives, tomatoes, and onions. The pork souvlaki was inconsistent at best. Two skewers each with chunks of pork that were either cooked dry or half cooked. Left half on the plate... Real Tzatziki sauce doesn't have carrots in it, unlike what they served here, with no real flavor at all. Burger and fries "platter" for almost $11 was a poor value. Maybe there are more authentic options available, but we didn't find them. read more

What a sad sad pastrami burger. Dry old bun, tiny amount of pastrami, dry patty, little no sauce. I literally had to eat the burger and chase it with cola to swallow the dryness. If this was my first time having a pastrami burger at Greek spot, I would have stopped. Luckily I've had amazing ones at other local similar spots. read more

Dasks was my first intro to Greek food back in the early 80's when they had the place at crossroads plaza, so I was ecstatic when I moved back to Salt Lake last year and found one just down the road from my house. The food is always consistently good! Great Lemon rice, great Gyros that might have too much yogurt sauce but that's quick to fix and better than not having enough. I love the Greek salad with tons of feta. I love how lady from Michigan was going to give this place 5 stars but since this place caters to the Utah palate with modest flavors she went 4 star... I'd say this is a high three. Big salads and good burgers. The gyro burger and salad are pretty good. The meat was a little dry but overall it's a good meal. Clean place and friendly service. Not quite enough to give it a 4 but still worth eating if you're in the area. There isn't much else to talk about so I'll keep it short. Dask's was everything I expected it to be. Nothing more, nothing less. The lamb gyro was good. Quality Kronos deal I'd expect from any Greek Joint in the states. The tzadziki was decent. Again, nothing I'm going to yell from a rooftop about, but this is Utah after all. The pita was soft and fluffy, nicely prepared. I also had a slice of their homemade spanikopita, which was excellent. They make it sheet pan style, which I like. The filling is done right, the flavour spot on. It's moist and creamy on the inside, with a nice crunch of golden filo on the exterior. I really wish they had mousaka or pastitsio on their menu, because if the quality of the spanikopita is any indicator, I have a feeling they would be fantastic. One thing that struck me as a bit odd, was they asked if I wanted red or white sauce on my gyro. What? No full blooded greek would dream of putting any "red sauce" (ok, there was that roxani rose fad a few years ago,) on a gyro... Then again, don't get me started on the "gyros" served in the states... I didn't think to ask for a taste of the red sauce (wtf?) but next time I'm back I think I'll have to find out more. read more

I have to disagree with Bani (mostly because I know him and want to give him a hard time). I like DASKS - and it's not just my personal affection for the owner, Jorge (who, like Bani, happens to be a very likable and congenial fellow). I would recommend steering clear of the chicken gyro. Go with the falafel gyro, the grilled chicken salad or the Dasks's Burger. Jorge will even put feta cheese on the burger for you to keep it Greek. read more

I loved their lamb gyro with white sauce, & everyone during my ordering was super friendly, which is why I didn't give them 1 star. The reason for the bad review was I also ordered a Spanakopota which was warmed up on a Styrofoam plate... The Styrofoam actually melted onto my Spanakopota, to which I accidentally ate part of. Dasks was too busy to hear my complaint at the time of my visit, & at the time of this review there was no contact email to notify the owner. Never disappointed here. I usually get the lamb gyro combo but this time I got the falafel gyro combo. Good choice. More overflowing than the lamb gyro and a lot more vegetables too. Diced cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce and I got the hummus instead of the white sauce. They top it off with a bit of Greek salad dressing which adds to the fresh taste. Again, good choice. For the basics of Greek food, this place gets it. This place is in the little strip mall area behind Zion's Bank on 3300 East. The place is a counter that you order at plus seating. They deliver your ordered food to your table and remove it when you're done. I had a lamb gyro in a combo. The salad dressing wasn't the most flavorful, but the gyro was great. They close at 7:00pm and not open on weekends. Tried to order to go, not only will they not answer the phone. Their voice mail message states that they are too busy to answer the phone. I'd almost give this 5 stars, except it seems to lean towards accomodating the 'utah palate' a bit (flavors are modest), which is a bit disappointing when searching out authentic Greek food. But you can't please 'em all. If Lonestar Taqueria is known for their Fish Tacos, Dasks outta be known for their Lamb Gyros. The lamb gyro is delicious. The lamb is absolutely the most tender, slow roasted thinly sliced pieces I've ever had. For comparison the City Greek Express (rated great here on yelp) serves 'gyro meat' gyros with only 20% lamb, the rest is beef. The lamb is also quite generous, which instantly deserves a good rating since most restaurants are so skimpy with meat. The sauce is very good on it, though I'm not sure if it should have had more cucumber (it is tsatsiki), since I couldn't really detect it. The pita dough was soft and warm and delicious, and its served with fresh tomato and onion in it too. The rice is very good - a nice savory lemony, non bitter flavor. The fries are tasty and crisp just like the other reviewer here said. Also tried one of the 'house specailties': the spanakopita, which was good (but not as good as the gyro) - the filo dough was delicious and light and flaky, the spinach maybe overpowering the cheese a bit inside (this could be my American palate speaking though, wanting more cheese). Overall my impressions is that its a non-assertive very good Greek food and the prices are fair (about $8 for a plate of salad, rice/fries, and a gyro). Not bad. It is more suited for lunch and quick meals, rather than focusing on authentic large meals or fancy sit-down dining. If you find their menu online, everything has since changed to be about $2 more. If I want a quick yummy gyro, I won't bother driving downtown for one, this place suits that need. They have numerous newspaper articles hung about the place praising their gyros and food in general as well. In my own opinion I'd love to see it a little more fun personality inside, (a little more fun, it seems a bit sterile) to help it be the dive the newspaper clippings claim it to be. But that is mostly beside the point as long as the food is good and the quality, personal service and friendliness more than make up for it! read more

i went here on a whim because i love greek food and the menu looked delicious. I ordered the falafel rice bowl and was really bummed when i got it and it was literally only rice and falafel. For 9 dollars i was hoping it would at least have some yummy veggies as well as a sauce of some sort. not worth the money in my opinion but willing to try other menu items next time! Dasks is my lunch time go-to if I'm craving Greek. It's conveniently located within walking distance of the Cottonwood Corporate center. If you're expectations are not too high, they don't disappoint. They offer simple Greek fare that is tasty and fresh. Some of my favorites include their falafel and gyro with white sauce, but for salads I prefer Greek City Grill - just a short (and beautiful) drive down Big Cottonwood Road. I feel that the prices are a bit high for what you get, but what you pay for is the convenience of their location. I usually call in my order and pick it up. If you order in-store it can be a long wait if they're busy. Order delivery only at your own risk. I've had coworkers waiting upwards of an hour for their food. read more

The souvlaki is pretty standard and the burgers are about on par with most of the local joints. This is a great step-up from "fast food" greek. The gyros are delicious, with no weird flavor you can't explain. The fries are thick, served with fry sauce. The rice and salad are exceptionally greek. They use authentic sauces, dressings, seasonings, and olives. The white cucumber/yogurt sauce is particularly good. Tomatoes are fresh. The burgers are big and fairly good. This location's seating arrangement is probably the only bad thing I have to say about it. It's just a big square with tables spread out. I can tell I'm never the only one who feels like they're on display while they're eating. But I suppose it's worth it since I keep going back when I have a hankering for a gyro or a good hamburger in the area. Other locations I've been to are similar food-wise, but better layout wise. read more

The food is good, if you can actually get it. Wait time is long and it's closed during the weekend. For a family run business it's not very welcoming, I go there often, their system was down and after 30 minutes of waiting with the food right in front of me I had to leave and find another Greek restaurant. Honestly feel like they should have given me the food for free after waiting for so long. Now I don't feel like going back because I found a friendly Greek restaurant. However, I was very surprised at how poorly cooked, like to the point of hard to chew the chicken was in my salad and the pita was like card board.
