I have been to spitz before and love it but had never tried this location. I was very excited when some people at work asked me to go here. I got my usual: street cart fries with sweet potatoes. It was as good as ever. Their sweet potato fries are my favorite. It comes with a lot of food, so I ended up getting two meals out of it. This location has gorgeous mountain views with good seating options both inside and outside. I would recommend checking it out! read more

Spitz is a tasty fast casual Mediterranean spot at the mouth of the Big Cottonwood Canyon. It was a no-brainer for picking up food after a day of skiing without having to drive anywhere. The beer selection was good too. The sauces are a highlight: both the aloi and the hot sauces are super flavorful, and the hottest wasn't too hot so I could really taste it. read more

This was our first--and definitely last--visit. To be fair, part of the blame is on me. I ignored the obvious red flags. First: no greeting from the woman working there--unless you count the near-contemptuous look she gave us as we approached the door. Second: a guy sitting at a nearby table bumped me with his chair on his way out and didn't say a word. No "excuse me," no "sorry"--nothing. Third: after we sat down, the same woman didn't tell us we had to go to the counter to order. After I placed the order, she brought the food, but never checked in to see if we were enjoying it or needed anything else. As for the food, the ideas behind the menu choices are quite good. Unfortunately, the food itself was quite mediocre. We were in town for work. We're from Las Vegas and eat out a lot. We've never felt more unwelcome in any restaurant than we did at Spitz Cottonwood. My advice? Skip it and eat next door at Bandit's Grill and Bar. Friendly staff, great service and terrific food. read more

Came out to Salt Lake City for a trip and stopped by this restaurant because it had some good reviews, safe to say those reviews were accurate! I got their fries that are loaded with all their toppings, as well as a wrap and they were both super delicious. The food was fresh and I loved that the French fries were crunchy so it didn't get soggy. The staff was also super nice and friendly and they had great seating options. This was a very nice restaurant that we chose based on the reviews and proximity to where we were staying. I have not had any dinner dishes before and this was a pleasant change. I enjoyed the remix bowl and the sauces were very tasty. The portions were very sufficient and probably you might have a little left overs. You enter the restaurant and place the order and pay for it and you will be served. Since the weather was good we sat outside and the staff were really excellent. Nice atmosphere, great service. Had really high expectations going in due to their 4.5 star average Yelp rating. But I didn't enjoy my food nearly enough to justify the price... I had their Doner Basket, which sounds amazing on paper but when you mix gyro meat, fried pita, fried garbanzo, lettuce, hummus, and french fries all together... they don't mesh all that well. The fries being on the bottom, they were kinda soggy by the time I got to them. The amount of meat in the basket was disappointly low when compared to the price as well. For $14, I can get like triple the amount of meat from the Halal Guys in NYC. And considering the ridiculously high cost of everything in NYC, to be paying just as much but getting less meat in Utah is sad to me. read more

For anyone who has been to Cava, this feels very similar but it's a bit fancier and more comforting. One thing I love about this place is all the sauces. I'm a sauce person and loved having so much variety. The portions are deceptively large and filling, and all the dishes are delicious in different ways. Another thing I like is that it's all very fresh and you don't walk out feeling sluggish. The ambiance is also very cool. Upon entering, we were greeted by vibrant, colorful decor, ample seating (outdoor seating also available) and a station with an array of enticing sauces. I've eaten here several times as Spitz is one of those reliable go-to meals for the family when cooking is not an option. The wraps here are delicious, and the street car wrap is a particular family favorite. Although the rest of my crew likes the chicken, I prefer it with the beef and gyro meat mix, along with a side of their delicious fries and extra aioli sauce--that stuff is so, so good! My nose senses are definitely something I need yo listen to. I did not like the smell of this place, it smelled like dead fish. Nice outdoor area , nice dining area. I ordered the sweet potato fries loaded I think. The fires were pretty much cold, the toppings were cold but I don't they chilled the fries down that much. Over all flavor kinda blah... I only ate half of them . The sauce was okay but not a wow for me. Hot fries may have helped. I don't think I would go back. Maybe the other food is good but it's not for me . The help was not the most friendly or inviting just okay felt like I was a bother. I gave a three stars because fries were cold - flavor okay , the fry had good crunch. read more

I've been here a couple of times, and my experiences were similar: the staff was very service-oriented, the food was tasty, and the dining room was decent. It was mostly a good experience. So why not four stars? Because of a rookie oversight for a restauranteur--it's very difficult to leave the restroom with clean hands. Many hand-washing setups make sense to me, but I can only think of one that doesn't, and this restaurant has it. If a restaurant uses an air-dyer and offers no paper towels, the door should either push open, have a way to grab a handle with your wrist or arm, or have a foot pull on it. Otherwise, you are grabbing a dirty and wet bathroom knob, which soils your hands as you leave the restroom. read more
