At first I was a bit skeptical especially since I live far away from this place and would be sending my memory card there by mail instead of actually going in person but I called the place and spoke to I believe Larry who explained the whole process to me and made me feel reassured. Excellent service! My hard drive suddenly stopped working (I wasn't able to access my files) and it had my entire life on there. I was desperate for a company to recovery my files, and I came across Data Recovery New Jersey. What set them apart from other companies is that they fix hard drives IN HOUSE, meaning they do not ship it out elsewhere to get fixed. I wanted to hand deliver my hard drive directly to the source, and I was able to do that. Larry was great to speak with, he's super knowledgeable and helped me understand the possible issues & how they'd go about repairing it. From speaking via email to meeting in person, he was very thorough and made me feel like my hard drive was in good hands. The repair took around 2 weeks (I wasn't in a rush to get it repaired, I told him it can be put on the back burner as long as it got done). 5 stars all the way .. My external hard drive with all my priceless photos of my son had completely stopped working. It could not locate the drive when connected to my laptop. I'm confused by all of these 5 star reviews. I had the opposite experience. I sent in my drive and never heard back from them. So I sent emails inquiring about my drive. I always received the same response that they were working on my drive but need 140.00 for parts after a month of no communication. Then I wouldn't hear anything for another month until I'd email them again and the process would repeat. The third time I emailed I was just tired of the same story and this time they said that nothing could be recovered, which is what I expected them to say. With all of the hype on their website about levels of data recovery and all of these amazing reviews, I'm not convinced this is the accurate. I still have the original email communications with Larry telling me the drive isn't very bad bc it is still running and it's 95% retrievable. Then I hear nothing and months later it's not retrievable. Sounds suspicious to me. Where are the real reviews? Has anyone else had this issue here? I'm still not convinced they did anything with my drive. They certainly weren't concerned with customer service or communication with me. I did take my drive elsewhere and recovered the data. Not sure what's going on here, sounds like the BBB needs a look. read more

Data Recovery went above and beyond to help our Near-Space Team recover data from an SD card that was included in our high altitude balloon launch in June 2018. The balloon and payload landed in the Long Island Sound where it floated for 27 hours. A few months ago, the unthinkable happened to me. My computer fried and I lost everything. Years of my photography, all my music and videos and crucial documents were all lost. I had great intentions of backing up but stupidly kept putting it off. It was beyond devastating. This place was AMAZING and Larry was thorough, knowledgeable and professional. He did the impossible... he recovered all of my data and I'm so happy I could cry. Larry is lifesaver! I was working on video art project for past 4 months and saved all files on an external hard drive. On last Friday night, suddenly all of my 3 computers stopped recognizing this. I tried to reach out some recovery places in NYC since I live in Brooklyn. But it was the weekend so most of places just wrote me back saying bringing hard drive to their shop. But Larry at data recovery NJ wrote me clear explanations that made me understand what's going on my external hard drive on Saturday morning while they are not open over the weekends. My husband took it at one of those computer repairing stores in Manhattan. They told that it would cost about $1000, takes 10 days at least and not guarantee. (They were planning to send it to somewhere else to fix it) Larry told me range of prices from minor case to more serious cases. It sounded fair to me and Larry wrote me back very quickly whenever I asked some questions over the weekends. (Although they close on the weekends). I went to drop my HD off on Monday morning although I don't have a car to drive up there, I took a bus (1hr ride from port authority 42st and 5min walk) that normally I wouldn't do that but just because Larry sounded very trustworthy to me. He checked out inside and told me it was reading data bad but he would try his best. The estimated price was definitely less than 1/2 price compared to other places. So I left my HD. On same day, he told me my disc inside of HD box is very rare kind so he said he would order it for me without charge. But it might take extra few days. Then Wednesday (remember I dropped it off on Monday!) they emailed me and told me it's ready to pick up or ship. He said few of files were damaged (I didn't need those and I mentioned it when I went to drop off my HD) but everything what I needed were all recovered. So over 99% successful!! I bought a new computer. Put all the pictures, files etc etc from the old computer on a flash drive. Everything was good to go. But, I was called away & when I returned to the old computer, I just flipped it over to start taking plugs out. I totally forgot about the flash drive still inserted and it jammed into the computer; a piece of plastic broke off into the drive. I got the piece of plastic out, got the new computer set up-it didn't recognize the flash drive. Tried it on several other computers...still no luck. I contacted several computer fix it places - no one works on flash drives. When I found the website for Data Recovery it was exactly what I was looking for.
