My wife and I found out about Dating Yummy a few years ago when our friend who lived in Shanghai China before who was visiting and wanted to find authentic Chinese food and dumplings. We loved this restaurant particularly the YuShsn Eggplant and MaPo tofu. We had noticed that the restaurant had changed names and the menu had removed these items a month or so ago and were disappointed. Tonight we were looking to get takeout and noticed the name and old menu had been restored. We were excited to have our favorites again but were quickly disappointed. First when I picked up the food I was told that they did not have a lot of MaPo tofu but that they gave me what they had and gave me a $5 bill back...weird. Then I got home and looked at the food and could tell right away that it was not right. The MaPo tofu had peas and carrots that were obviously from frozen and def not in traditional Chinese MaPo tofu. The eggplant was mostly bell pepper and odd pickled vegetables with very little actual eggplant. The crab cheese wantons were dry and flavorless. We were very upset after spending $50 on food that we could not stomach to finish after a few bites. I threw the food away. I decided to call and request a refund. The new owner was very hostile. I tried to be nice and just said the food was not what we expected and that we could not eat it as it did not taste right that we would like a refund. He raised his voice and was angry and kept insisting the recipes had not changed and asking when was the last time we ate there. He insisted that I drive the food back so he could look at it and maybe he would give a refund. I told him I threw the food away and would not spend another 30 minutes total in the car to drive back there. Even if I was in the wrong, the new owner was insulting and never made any attempt to listen to my concerns. I stated that MaPo tofu does not have peas and carrots. He responded stating "this is traditional Chinese, not Americanized." The man is gaslighting me because I knew this is not true as I have had this dish at other restaurants for years and it never included vegetables. I looked it up apparently ONLY Americanized versions of this dish have peas and carrots. I will be filing a dispute with my credit card company for a chargeback. It is completely unacceptable to treat customers this way. Two thumbs down. read more

Really great experience and relaxed atmosphere. I played tennis with some friends at Utah Park Tennis Courts and we were all starving after. This place was really close by and honestly I saw a tiktok about it so I just had to try it for myself. They share a parking lot with the surrounding businesses but there was plenty of space. The server was quick to seat us and bring us menus. My sister was with us and she is gluten free. They said they could do some dishes :) I got the sweet and sour chicken! I always get the sauce on the side so my chicken doesn't get soggy. It was tasteful! I tried my sisters gluten free sesame beef and it was really good as well! I came here based on many recommendations from over a year ago and should have paid more attention to the current ratings. We came on a Friday around 6pm and were the only patrons until just before 7:30pm. The decor was plain and nondescript but definitely didn't hint of your normal (even lower-scale) Asian restaurants. The biggest things of note were the fake flowers displayed in vases of water (!?!), and multiple wall hangings about lemonade (yet my son was served a can of lemonade and a cup of ice). We ordered four dishes and an appetizer (most of which were my son's choice). The crab cheese wontons were not properly sealed (as shown in the photos), and the filling was dried out because of that. At first I thought they tasted funny because they were saturated with oil, but then realized the weird flavor was from the sweet and sour sauce. Next we received sesame chicken and orange chicken (the only way to differentiate the two was that one had fried noodles and sesame seeds on it and the other one had dried red peppers and orange peels). Flavor-wise they were identical unless you chewed a piece of the dried orange peel with the chicken. After that we received what we were told was sesame chicken again (but was General Tso's) and looked identical to the other two except it was served with a bit of broccoli. It also tasted exactly like the other two with the addition of a bit of vinegar. Lastly I received my Mapo Tofu. This has always been my go to order at Chinese restaurants...even those not listing it on their menus. This one tasted slightly sweet, but otherwise lacked depth, seasoning, spice, and proper flavor profiles just like everything else we tried. Overall we were less than impressed. My son said next time he wanted me to buy the frozen Harts or Innovasian brand and cook that for him instead. And I doubt I will even eat the leftover Mapo Tofu unless I add a whole bunch of flavor and spice to it. Pretty disappointed, especially with a $90 price tag. read more

Finding a place that serves near perfect hot and sour soup is somewhat difficult these days. I enjoy the MSG laden version with all the flavoring. Dating Yummy does an excellent job with it! The soup comes out hot AND flavorful. I ordered the chili wontons and also scallion pancakes as well. I would pass on the chili wontons next time. They were good but for some reason it just didn't strike a chord with me. The scallion pancakes needed to be cooked a bit longer but I would definitely order those again. My overall experience was great. Super fast service and down to earth waitstaff. The Chinese television shows were fun to watch. I never really followed any shows but it was nice to hear one of the languages I grew up with that made the experience far more familiar than anything. I would certainly return for many reasons. So far this place has the best soup dumplings I've found in Colorado. The hot & sour soup was also really good. I also tried the chili oil pork dumplings & the pan fried pork dumplings which were good- 4 star quality. Ultimately, I would absolutely come back for the soup dumplings & beyond that I would try some other options on their menu. I was happy with my experience here, the place is a nice clean Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. The service was good, overall no complaints. He went with the kung pao beef and I chose the salt and pepper prawns. Comes with white rice. The pork wontons were delish! I like the sauce in rice so I saved the bowl once we ate the dumplings. The kung pao beef was not bad. Lots of peanuts which I ate. :) : Salt and pepper prawns are never fried crispy enough for me but I like prawns so I guess I'll keep ordering them. Best Xiao long bao (soup dumplings) in Denver! I tried this spot out last night, I love that they are open until 9:30 for late night eats. The service was great, although it wasn't too busy. There are a lot of tables in a casual atmosphere. Everything I had was delicious. We got Xiao long bao, fried pork buns, Mapo tofu, and small egg drop soup and hot and sour soup (soup not pictured). The soup tasted super fresh. Definitely come here for the dumplings and buns! The soup dumplings were juicy and came with a side of pickled ginger. The pork buns had an awesome, homemade dough. Everything tasted really fresh. This is my first time trying Mapo tofu. I didn't realize there is a Szechuan peppercorn that tingles your mouth and numbs your tongue as you eat. The Szechuan peppercorn tastes like a clove. Mapo tofu is an experience in itself. If you've never tried, definitely get this!! Overall, this is a great place to have a casual dinner with friends or a loved one. The food is really tasty and prices are reasonable. Takeout Review. About thirty minutes away from Dating Yumy we decided to order take out which was ready when we got there. The packaging was neat and thoughtful for those driving home with food. With an online order of $25 or more you get a free order of crab cheese wontons. I'm always in for free food! I like that they aren't skimpy on the filling like some other places. Pork Soup Dumplings. Not the best I've had, but were still good. There was plenty of filling, but not a lot of gushing soup. And the dough was quite thick and chewy. Kung Pao Chicken. A hit for sure. The heat level wasn't unbearably spicy, but it had a nice kick. Really flavorful with a good amount of tasty veggies. Chicken Lo Mein. Dating Yummy was my husband and I's all time favorite Chinese restaurant in town. We ordered all of our usual favorites tonight for take out and were extremely disappointed. The crab cheese wontons were so dry and flavorless and the other dishes weren't remotely close to what they once were. We both took a few bites and had to toss the rest, which we NEVER do. We absolutely hate wasting food, but there was no way we could force ourselves to eat these. We called the owner to let him know and ask for a refund, and he said they were the exact same recipes as before the change in ownership and he would no refund. There aren't many places to get soup dumplings in Denver, and this is one of them. We were super excited to try Dating Yumy after we found out that they have both Xiao Long Bao & fried pork buns! We have been lucky enough to enjoy the Xiao Long Bao at Din Tai Fung in both LA and Seattle, as well as the pork fried buns at Dough Zone in Seattle. Both of those restaurants blew our minds with how good they were...so needless to say our expectations were very high. Dating Yumy was good! This used to be our favorite restaurant in the area, but they recently switched owners and it is horrible. We think our fave server was fired based on the conversation we had with them on their last day. The egg drop soup was luke warm at best, the new owners no longer make chili oil, the sesame shrimp had good flavor but was horribly caky, and the veggie lo mein and fried rice lacked flavor. The veggie lo mein was probably one of the biggest let downs. It used to be our favorite with soft, chunky, bouncy noodles, now it's thin undercooked, sad and flavorless. They also removed two of our favorite items from the menu: the soup dumplings and pork wontons in chili oil. This was a devastating loss of a great restaurant. We ended up ordering the Fried Pork Wontons, Pork Soup Dumplings, Sesame Chicken and House Chow Mein. We also got a free order of the Crab Cheese Fried Wontons through a promotion they have online. I loved the Crab Cheese Wontons! It was so creamy and had a hint of crab in it. Their house chow mein was slightly on the saltier than I would have liked but not bad! Its definitely very authentic. Sesame Chicken was delicious and sweet. It still had a slight crunch to it when we got home! XLB/Pork Soup Dumplings were pretty good. Dating yummy is a newer Chinese restaurant located near challengers off Iliff and Peoria. This restaurant is in a nice center with ample parking options. The wait staff and owner were very helpful. There is large dining area with plenty of seating arrangements available even during the dinner rush. They serve a healthy mix of popular American Chinese favorites and more authentic Chinese dishes. I will say they cater towards an American palate with their spice levels, which is fine and desirable for most. Let's start off with the gem of the dating yummy, the xiao long baos. The meat was tender, and the dumpling wrap was soft but strong enough to grab without breaking off the steamed paper. There was a large volume of flavorful soup when paired with their sauce. From here the rest of the food doesn't shine as well. Nothing about the food was bad except the flavors were lacking and did not provide a great punch. My friends and family did enjoy this place much more than me. The steamed pork buns were good. The meat inside was tasty. The buns were soft and provided a great bite or it was easy to rip off a chunk to eat instead. The filling didn't spill out which is a plus for me. Solid pork bun. The bottom did not stick to the steamed rice paper. The mapo tofu was missing the ma and la, sparse minced meat. You can tell there is spice in it but there is very little. The sauce is a very mild chili sauce, which is something my parents actually preferred, so spice level definitely to each their own. Tofu was soft and delicious. I would say this dish is a fantastic introduction to mapo tofu for those who tend to avoid the full on hit of Chinese five spice. The beef fried rice was very plain but not bland. A generous amount of beef was at the bottom of the plate so first looks was deceptive! Seasoned heavily with soy sauce and very oily and salty. Good portion size. If you need extra spice the restaurant does provide chili oil on the side (might be Lao gan ma). This chili oil helps provide a bit of extra kick their food is missing. If you're looking to elevate your Chinese options from Panda Express then this restaurant is a incredibly natural step forward. You'll have the safety with your favorite options while being able to sample newer cuisines that won't destroy your tongue. For people looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant I would say this place still provides that to people who like to control their spice levels. read more

The soup dumplings were what drew us in, but the sesame chicken was the real showstopper! We enjoyed our meal but after visiting 3 other Aurora/Centennial Chinese restaurants in the same week we may not venture back any time soon. It's had some new menu changes and ownership and we liked the previous dishes from the previous owners/management before so we wanted to go and support. This location has been many restaurants and we always try to support. The service was friendly but food was just ok for us. We did enjoy the General Tso chicken and beef lo mein with black pepper noodles but all the other items like the some of the dumplings, won ton in chili (too much PB flavor for my guests) and appetizers did not excite us. The ingredients were fresh but the flavor and spice was just not right for us. We really wanted to love it since it's close to our neighborhood. I was driving through and found the reviews to be good for me to try this. I got 3 dishes and split it with my dad, which still proved to be a lot for us to finish. The portions are big! We were shopping at POM so decided to try this restaurant since they offered soup pork dumplings which my kids like. But for some reason, they didn't like their soup dumplings... for me, it did lack flavor, I think it was too meaty with no other balance. I think it would've had a bit more flavor with herbs like green onions, cilantro or something. If you like all meat though, you may enjoy it more. We also ordered popular Chinese entrees such as salted pepper prawns which was my favorite dish, Mongolian beef, and orange chicken! The batter of the salted pepper prawns was yummy and prawns tasted fresh. Mongolian beef also lacked flavor and the meat was a bit tough. I figured I should try a few things and ended up getting 1. Pork Wonton In Red Chili 2. Pork Soup Dumpling 3. Pork Buns I have never actually had anything but wontons before and it was all delicious. I feel like realistically you can't go wrong with anything you order but I'd 1000% recommend getting the soup dumplings. Also note they do sell out of dumplings, this happened the first time I wanted to try this place out. If you're like me and hoping this is the same quality as the place before it (uncle zoe's) then sadly we'll both need to keep looking. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't call this "bad" Chinese food but I will say it's overpriced for what it is. We ordered the pork dumplings, broccoli beef, pork buns, green beans, and the sesame chicken. Overall the flavors were lackluster. The dumplings were tiny which was surprising and tasted like frozen ones. The pork buns truly had no flavor to them so dousing them in dumpling sauce was the only way to eat them. The green beans had better flavor but were either overcooked or undercooked depending on which one you bit into. The chicken and beef were decent and pretty standard for Chinese food we've had in the area. When a Resturant is right around the corner, but you don't pass it directly, you don't know it is there. That is what happened for us and Dating Yumy. Located on the northeast section of Iliff and Peoria, all you can see is a long row of restaurants. When this place passed through my Facebook feed yesterday and the mention of pork soup dumplings was made, I knew we should go there. In China, this soup dumpling is called Xiao Long Bao. We have grown very fond of this wonderful soup dumpling, but there are not many places that serve them. They were served with shreds of fresh ginger and the fragrant dark vinegar for dipping. Having them available now within 10 minutes of our home is wonderful. It was a night for soup, also. I got the egg drop and my husband got Hot and Sour Soup. That one has a bit of a kick to it, so beware. The egg drop soup was smooth and flavorful. Not too thick and not too thin. For main course, we shared chicken lo mein. The sauce on this noodle dish was pleasantly seasoned with garlic, but not overpowering. A brisk take out business was occurring while we were seated.
