Firstly, I am not one to leave negative reviews all willy-nilly. Reviews are very important to restaurants and I also understand that occasionally things don't always taste exactly the same as they may have before due to various circumstances. Since this restaurant's original owners have gone there has been a MASSIVE decline in the quality of food served here. My family and I have given the benefit of doubt however and repeatedly eaten here or had them delivered hoping whatever was going on was temporary. That has not been the case. Whichever direction this restaurant has taken seems permanent. For three of us, we ordered spaghetti w/meatballs, meat lasagna and chicken Jerusalem. We also ordered sautéed mushrooms. We had it delivered via the Slice app. Aside from the lettuce in the salad, these meals had not one redeeming quality among them. Every single thing was vinegary and tasteless. Even the salad dressing was terrible. It was so watery that it was useless to even have on a salad. The bread was awful. The spaghetti actually made one of us ill. Thankfully the issue was lower GI versus upper. The meal was almost $100.00 which under normal circumstances I would expect to pay Dattilo's for but that meal wasn't worth one cent (well, five cents since they stopped making pennies) and the fact that all of it went in the trash and one of us became ill says everything. Unless there's some hidden secret on how to get a good meal here and you are aware of it, do not even chance this place. We started with the freshly toasted bread which was tasty and followed with the soup of the day which was a broccoli soup, it was pretty good. I'd maybe try something else next time though. Of the 4 of us, 1 loved it and other two thought it was just okay. We ordered a 10" pizza, eggplant parm and a fettuccine Alfredo. Pizza and pasta were great and eggplant parm was just okay. Our server was pleasant and funny. The restaurant vibe was pretty quiet and only 1 other group, cool paintings and old style deco with lots of real plants and the place was clean. Parking upfront was weird but there is parking in the rear of the restaurant. Tried this restaurant with my boyfriend the pizza was amazing! The service was very good, very attentive! Nice relaxing atmosphere!

This plate was good. The salmon cooked to perfection with a yummy creamy sauce on top. The noodles lacked some flavor and sauce I had to ask for extra sauce on the side (which they charge more for) it was good I would rate it a 7.5 Also don't expect quick service, food and servers take their time. read more

Have been craving a vegetarian lasagna for a while and was recommended by another Italian food restaurant in the area to go to Dattilo. I checked and their menus on yelp or outdated. A vegetarian lasagna was about 20.00. Service was great. The price would have been worth it if the quality of food was there. I was gravely disappointed in the bread because for me a good bread to go with spaghetti or lasagna is important. The lasagna was also disappointing. The lasagna was not made of lasagna pasta but of strings of pasta. Looked my fettuccine pasta. The spinach did not taste fresh in the lasagna and the sauce left much to desire. I would. It return for the lasagna. The ambiance is very nice. The place has some beautiful art on the walls and ceilings. The workers were very nice and respectful. read more

I'm giving this five stars for taste, service and overall experience. I'm new to hemet from San Diego and have been craving Italian food. Low and behold I listened to yelp and made my way here. I went in this past week with an ADA small dog Medical/hearing. We were discriminated against by making us sit on the other side away from everyone else. We heard it stated by a waitress to another waitress. Sit them on the other side so no one can see the dog. We could hardly finish our food took it to go we were so upset. Tonight I had a wonderful dinner with my father, uncle and my wife. Sarah was our amazing server and so sweet and helpful. AJ assisted and the service was terrific. We started with Italian margaritas and beer with bruschetta and sautéed mushrooms. For our entrees my wife had the shrimp entree with vegetables and lentil soup. My father, uncle and I had pasta, two of us had salad with Papa having the soup. Everything was terrific. For dessert we had spumoni cake and ice cream with some fresh brewed coffee. We arrived and waited a long time to be seated, we were finally seated and asked for a drink order that never came and people that came in after we did were receiving appetizers and drinks, nobody came to our table so we finally got some ladies attention and she came over and informed us it wasn't her table but ok she will take our order, gee thanks! We mentioned the drinks and she confronted literally the girl who had taken the order right in front of us, which was awkward. The food arrived and it was ok, nothing special, I think people go because it's one of two Italian restaurants in the area besides pizza and they think because it has been there forever and the family is well know they act like it's way better than it is. This restaurant is probably the best Italian restaurant in Hemet, although there is another quite close to Dattilo that is also very good. We went with another couple and we were all quite happy with our meals, so that's a positive sign. I had the Dattilo ravioli, which was very good, not a big portion, but the rose (wine) sauce, is very rich, so with the bread, I had enough to eat. The salad was OK, because the dressing was very good, the salad itself was mostly lettuce. Not even close to say , Texas Roadhouse salad. My wife and her friend, had the prawns and fettuccine alfredo, which they both enjoyed very much. The other fellow had a baked spaghetti with marinara, that he liked. If you wondered why I didn't give it 5 stars, it wasn't the service, which was quite slow, it was the fee they added to the bill, because I used a debit card, so I reduced my tip accordingly. This place isn't exactly low cost, and this fee is totally inappropriate. Increase your prices, but don't add a fu-#$ng fee. read more

I've been to Dattilo's twice so far because of the rave reviews I've heard from Yelp and from others. I won't lie, my first time trying their food, we did takeout and were not impressed. I ordered a spaghetti carbonara to go with some shrimp, and the dish was very oily and the ratios a bit off. I had some friends recommend us to eat here after a few months, and I decided to give it another shot. Wow, am I happy that we did. It must have been an off day when we had ordered because the quality of the food was far better this time around! My friend ordered a pizza and it had a good ratio of ingredients for a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth bite. I ordered the chicken Jerusalem and was very happy with how hearty the sauce felt, meshing with the mushroom and sautéed chicken. I also got a small bite of my friend's ravioli, and the sauce is to die for! Our server was extremely attentive and kind. She made sure we got everything we needed and got us a nice, long table for our large party. Order 2 pizzas and a salad . Received a tiny Chinese container with a 1/4 cup of lettece? WTF! Both pizzas were cold. My wife and son waited 73 - minutes past the 25- minutes they were told it would be ready. No apologies or offer of compensation for their time wasted. So disappointed and they will not go back. It was very empty going inside and yet one still had to wait for the waiters to arrive to seat you. Even though they make their pasta from scratch the dishes are very bland not very appetizing once they arrive at the table. Make sure you ask prior to ordering as some of their dishes are not what one thinks like the lasagna are noodles sauce and the filling this authentic Italian dish is made. My wife lived in Hemet growing up and mentioned this was a place she had always wanted to try. I'm glad we did. Food was so good, and I don't say that lightly. The focaccia bread was insane. I could have eaten just that and been good. And then the entrees were largely portioned, we took home for later. Our servers were great, we loved their humor and they too our experience from good to great. The interior paintings and ambiance are very inviting, my wife said it has that true Italian feel. 1st time to Datillos, we were excited about going, it turned out to be a terrible experience. We Arri.\nVed at 5:10 PM. did not receive our food until 6:30 pm. Two parties that arrived after us received their meals. Nobody approached us and it felt as if they were avoiding us. All we wanted was some communication if they had an issue in the kitchen. They could have let us know , and we could have decided on staying or going and getting something else for dinner. After we asked to speak to a manager , it took fifteen minutes for a manager to come over. I feel that from the servers to the owners , they all need to brush up on their customer service. When we did get our food, the Pizza was burnt.The others in my party thought the food was good , but overpriced. They didn't even offer to discount our meal. Sautéed Mushrooms were delicious. I do not recommend the Spaghetti Bolognese. This restaurant uses thin over cooked spaghetti. it tasted terrible (like yeast). They have removed beef, salmon, and pork. You cannot order the bread for the table until you've started your order? WTH? I've been going to this restaurant for 20+ years. What's up? I'm going to fill up on the bread and not place an order? That's Italian? I ordered the chicken picatta because they no longer serve veal. It was like they didn't even try. The chicken was dry without any flavor. Our waitress acted as if we should know already about the changes &was snooty about it. Amazing food, great service (hard to find in 2023) and charming ambiance. If you love great red sauce, homemade breads and soups, you'll love this place. First time there, you might want to stick to the pasta or pizza, both of which are Dattillo signature dishes and well-beloved in the community. It was my first time here, but other people I know in Hemet rave about their seafood creations. I'll try those next time. I lucked out and one of the owners was there, sharing stories with me at the bar. (*try the "Italian Margarita."- delicious.) Fascinating to know that Hemet used to be a pretty upscale place. I brought home spaghetti and meatballs for 2 and ate nearly all of it myself. That's how great the marinara was. I did save a few bites for my husband, who enjoyed the meatballs. Our dog got to lick the plate and he approved as well. The side portion of soup (lentil) was also tasty. There wasn't enough for 2, so I ate all of it. My husband will just have to take me out to dinner here sometime if he wants to try it. Atmosphere is very laid back and mellow. Great place for a family gathering or after-church lunch. This place has only gotten better!! Everything was delicious and they even have gluten free options (for people like me!). I had the gluten free raviolis in rose sauce (my favorite sauce) and my mom had the lasagna which wasn't really lasagna but was delicious. Both came with soup or salad and all of their salad dressings are really good (and gluten free). My mom also said the bread was amazing. Our waitress was so helpful (she is gf too!!) and it was just a wonderful experience. I will be back here once a week as it's the best restaurant in Hemet! Let's get right to it shall we? So my family and I just moved here to San Jacinto from Moreno Valley so we have/had no clue whats good to eat and where to go. All we knew was that we were craving Italian food after a fast and exhausting move. I turned to google and came across Dattilo Ristorante and it was very close to our new home so we decided to order plus the pictures looked promising and the descriptions of the food made our mouths water. Here's how it went: Service- husband went inside to pick up the food (we ordered online) and he said that the staff was friendly, helpful and looked him in the eyes which, as a black male, is important to him. He felt very welcomed. Ambiance: He reports that it was a quaint cozy place. A bit cheesy looking and old school but cute nonetheless. Food: So here's where the disappointment starts creeping in... We spent around $67 (including tip) for four items. A lot of money but we don't mind if the food is worth it. In my opinion it was not. To be clear it wasn't horrible but definitely not the authentic Italian delight I thought it would be. We ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese, Lasagne Al Forno, side of sausage and Tiramisu. SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE: straight up lacked a lot of flavor even with the extra sauce we requested. My husband said it was just ok but I thought it was pretty gross. Noodles were tender but again no seasoning or flavor. LASAGNE AL FORNO: was wayyy better than the Bolognese but needed more sauce (was dry) and again the noodles were tender and nice but lacked much needed seasoning. TIRAMISU: almost delicious but was missing ...something. Can't put my finger on it. But the portion size was extremely small for $8. If it had been creamy and delicious then I would've minded but since it wasn't then that $8 was a waste. I might try it again but in person. We think the quality might be better if we dined in and to be fare we did order food about an hour before closing so we will try it again and maybe that will make a difference. Well see. read more
